Three days had passed since the incident, and Lewis was finally discharged. His brothers had taken great care of him, but they were frustrated that Lewis did nothing in the past three days but work in his hospital bed. He didn't even visit Devon in the ICU.
But no one in those past three days urged him to see her. They understood that Lewis wasn't ready to see her like that. Also, since the accident was big, it had been everywhere. So, Lewis was working to keep it down while dealing with the right papers for the other problem Julian caused him.
"Ge," called Dion, watching Lewis fix his tie while he stood on the side of the bed. "About sis..."
He trailed off when Lewis raised his gaze to him. It was no doubt. The cold and emotionless Lewis was back. The latter didn't speak as he continued to fix his cufflinks.
"The doctor said we should bid our farewells to her." Lewis froze when Dion murmured, reminding him of his talk with the doctor a day ago. "She is only breathing because of the machines. Even if you want to keep sis in life support, she will..."
"Shut up." Lewis interfered coldly, staring at Dion without a trace of human emotion. "If you have nothing good to say, keep your mouth shut, Dion."
Dion pressed his lips into a thin line and frowned. Even when his big brother was being too cold, he only felt sorry for him. The doctor advised them to let her go since it was futile. Devon was already dead and was just breathing through life support. Once they took that out, her heart would stop.
In a situation like this, the family or guardian of the patient should let them go. Not only it was expensive but also, for the sake of the patient. Over time, Devon would be nothing but skin and bones. It would also prolong the grieving.
But Lewis made his orders clear. He didn't want to take away her life support. They had respected that. Even so, every one of them also wanted to respect Devon by holding a proper funeral.
"She is not dead, Dion," Lewis muttered after fixing his cufflinks, setting his eyes back at his brother. "She will wake up. I just need to be patient."
"Ge..."
"Enough." Lewis waved as he looked away when Derek entered the room. "Assistant Wang, how is Mister De Luca?"
Dion frowned with eyes full of bitterness. His gaze remained on Lewis's back as he conversed with Derek formally. This scene was something he was used to seeing. Before Devon and Lewis became a couple, Dion would always watch his big brother talk to his assistant about business.
It felt like they just returned to the past. The only difference was that Lewis was working tirelessly to forget his pain.
"Is that so?" Lewis nodded while scrolling the tablet in his hand, checking his schedule. "I'll meet him then."
"Young Master, about Miss Lin." Derek immediately put a hold on his sentence when Lewis raised a brow and glanced at him coldly. "It's nothing, Young Master. Mister De Luca is waiting for you. We can drop by in his room before we leave."
"Sure. Let's do that. I owe him, after all." Lewis nodded as he handed the tablet back to him. He looked back at Dion with nonchalance in his eyes.
"You should go home and rest, Dion. You've been exhausted."
'Not as exhausted as you,' were the words Dion held back on saying.
"Can I come with you?" Dion inquired, as he pushed himself up from his seat. "I also want to thank Mister De Luca for saving you."
Lewis remained silent for a second before rocking his head. "Up to you."
With that being said, Derek led the way and Lewis followed. Dion idled for a second as he watched the two men depart the hospital room. A shallow breath slipped past his lips, shaking his head dejectedly.
"No doubt. He is back to being the Ge I know," Dion murmured bitterly before dragging his feet to follow the two of them.
Since Quentin was in the same building and his room was just a level below Lewis' hospital room, it didn't take long when they reach his room. Derek gazed at Lewis and Dion before he knocked on the door. They heard a woman's voice telling them to "come in," before Derek opened the door slowly.
Gabriella, who was nursing her brother back to health, shifted her eyes towards the door. By now, she was already familiar with Derek.
On the reclined bed was Quentin. He also turned his head in the entrance and his gaze instantly caught Lewis's stoic face.
"You came?" he smiled as his three visitors stood on the side of his bed. "CEO Qin, I appreciate that you are visiting me personally, but the person I want to talk to is the third young master."
Lewis, Derek, and Dion raised their brows in confusion. But Quentin didn't speak immediately as he turned to Gabriella and smiled.
"Can you give us a moment?" he asked.
Although Gabriella was hesitant, she sported a forced smile and nodded. "Of course." She didn't idle and cast the three men a smile before departing the room.
Once Gabriella was out of the room, Quentin wince as he took a deep breath. "I know you want to thank me for my heroic action, but you don't have to waste your time on that, CEO Qin. If you want to express your sincerity, I'd rather talk to the third young master."
"Why would you want to talk to him?" asked Lewis coldly, furrowing his brows.
Quentin let out a weak chuckle. "It's something... personal."
"Mister De Luca, if you are angry about my rude behavior towards your sister, I will apologize to her." Dion voiced out, thinking this was the only reason Quentin wanted to talk to him.
"It's not that..." Quentin let out a sigh and weakly shook his head. "... I'm talking about her. Devon. You're her lover, correct?"
Dion nearly gasped as he shivered. "What? Why do people always assume my sis and I are a couple?"
Quentin knitted his brows upon seeing Dion's reaction. Derek hadn't told him, despite visiting him twice in the past three days. So, he still didn't have an idea who was Devon's actual lover. He simply believed that Lewis was there in the incident because of his brothers.
"I am her fiance," Lewis spoke after a moment of silence, making Quentin's brow crease even more. "Not Dion, but me."
"What?"
