Chapter 179 - [Bonus ]I'm Sorry, Dion.

Lewis's plans for the night were ruined. Instead of working tirelessly to forget, he had to go with Marshall and rest in the old Qin residence. To his surprise, all his other brothers had also come one after another. They didn't talk about visiting the old residence. It was just a pure 'coincidence' that they all decided to stay in Marshall's home tonight.

Or rather, it was just the hobby of the Qin brothers to stay in the old residence whenever they wanted to feel at home. It was something that no one admitted verbally, but during sad times, they always found themselves in the old residence.

Marshall let out a deep sigh, scanning the faces of his grandson around the dining table. Not a single one of them was talking; from Lewis who was eating slowly to Dion who was just staring at his food, the youngest who was playing with his food, then Rio who had broken the record of how many sighs he already let out in a short time, and then Kai who looked pissed at something.

"These punks... why did you even come home if you will just fill my house with negativity?" the Old man grumbled while shaking his head. "You punks are breaking your old man's frail heart."

Rio glanced at his grandfather as the latter continued to eat with a heavy heart. He was the only one who didn't ignore their grandfather. It was not that his brothers intentionally ignored Marshall, they just had many things in mind.

"I'm sorry, grandpa," he apologized in his brothers' stead and looked around. "It's just... being home is all we needed."

A bitter smile appeared on the fourth young master of the Qin as he stared at his steak. What Julian did devastate them, especially Ansel, who was closest to him. It was already a shock to them and it still baffled them why Julian did that to Devon. No one explained it to them. What they only knew was Julian was obsessed with her — that's all.

It just saddened them that Devon died. Even though Rio, Kai, and Ansel didn't have a strong attachment to Devon just like Dion and Lewis, they were still worried. Lewis was devastated and Dion as well. They had never seen these two hit rock bottom.

"Grandpa." Suddenly, Dion raised his head and set his vacant eyes on Marshall. "Can I get admitted to the hospital? I think it's better for me to stay there."

Everyone aside from Lewis cast Dion a look. They were aware he was attached to Devon, but not to this extent.

"I want to stay beside her," Dion continued in the same dead tone before shifting his eyes to Lewis. "Ge, I was wrong. I think we should hold on to her for as long as we can."

His visit today with Devon somehow changed Dion's mind. He wasn't ready as well. It may sound crazy, but by this, he could still stay with her a bit more.

"What... are you out of your fucking mind?" Kai voiced out in disbelief, scoffing as he stared at Dion's side profile. But the latter fixated his eyes on Lewis.

"Dion, son," called Marshall, shaking his head when Dion glanced at him briefly. "You are not helping."

"I am not trying to help anyone, grandpa. I'm just saying what I think is... what I think we should do as her family."

"Big brother Dion," Rio breathed out helplessly, but Dion ignored him.

"Ge is not wrong. She will be fine for sure." Dion asserted while rocking his head before repeating, "She will be fine."

After some time, Lewis raised his head and set them to Dion. He didn't speak for a long time and just studied his brother. Just this morning, Dion was trying to convince him to let her go. But now... his brother found it harder to do that as well.

This was because the longer she was with them, the more they could see her, and the more they could hold her, the harder it was to let go. Lewis' eyes flickered with bitterness, realizing how he was prolonging everyone's pain. Now, Dion was suffering even more. They both knew holding on to her was not the right thing to do, and it was only their selfishness.

"Dion." After some time, Lewis finally broke his silence. It still sounded cold, but the depressing aura it gave was clear. Lewis looked at his brothers and then at Marshall before setting them back to Dion.

"I will take off the life support tomorrow."

There was a long silence that followed after Dion dropped his cutlery. He looked at Lewis, wide-eyed. Just when he was supporting Lewis' madness, his brother was telling him he would take away her life support? Dion felt cheated.

"Why...?" Dion asked under his breath. "Why would you do that?"

Lewis sported a pained look. "Because it's the right thing to do, brother. I know you love her, and I love her too, but Devon... she will be devastated if we lose our mind because of her."

"No." Dion chuckled in ridicule, leaning back as he looked at his other brothers. "Ge, we're fine up until now. A little sad, yes, but not to the point of madness."

"Dion..."

"Ge, did you really love sister? I mean, how can you not visit her in the past three days? I always tell myself you're not just ready yet, but now that I think about it, it still doesn't make sense. For the past three days, I am always with her. How can you take my sister away from me?"

"Dion." This time, Marshall called and waited for Dion to look at him before he shook his head. "That's enough, son. You've all been exhausted mentally, emotionally, and physically. I understand your pain. But we should all take this time to rest."

Lewis stared at Dion straight in the eye. "I'm sorry, Dion. I failed you and Devon."

Dion opened his mouth, but no words came out. Instead, his eyes sweltered as he hastily got up from his seat and walked away. Lewis just stared at him before letting out a sigh. The dinner ended in silence, with each one of them with a heavy heart.

Just before Marshall could leave, Lewis spoke again. "Grandpa, I have a request."

Marshall listened to Lewis's request, which made his eyes grow wide, but then they softened. A bitter smile appeared on his lips before he nodded.

"If that is what you want, let's do that."
