Chapter 55 - I'll Be The Best Wingman

"Brother…" Out of words, Dion could only stare at Lewis for a moment. It seemed he finally understood the dilemma, and it wasn't that simple to solve!

Lewis let out a faint sigh as he fixed his eyes on Devon, while the clerk assisted her to the fitting room. He knew his situation was more problematic since they'd been sleeping together.

Sleeping for months, Devon was immune to his charms. So even if he was being too obvious, she wouldn't take it to the heart. He couldn't also just confess his feelings, afraid it would make things awkward between them.

"So, what do you think?" he asked and looked at Dion squarely. "Is there some hope?"

Dion opened and closed his mouth like a fish. "Of course!" he exclaimed, clearing his throat as he shook his head. "But brother, I need more information about Miss Lin's taste in men first."

"I'm afraid you have to rely on your observation skills for that."

"What?" Dion frowned, furrowing his brows before he said, "Why not? Can't we just ask her?"

'She'll probably say someone who will be her accomplice in a crime,' Lewis thought internally, but mentally shrug his head. 'Maybe not. She lost her memory, after all.'

"If you think Miss Lin is not aware of this matter yet, then we just need to make her aware, right?" Dion suggested while scratching his chin.

It was rare… or no, this was the first time Lewis asked for his help in anything. So, Dion wanted to do his best to resolve this dilemma and to break their family's curse.

'That's right! I'm the only hope for our other brothers!' The corner of Dion's lips stretched from ear to ear, not realizing Lewis was staring at him emotionlessly.

Even though Dion wouldn't say it, Lewis could accurately tell what his little brother was thinking. Dion's thoughts were clearly showing on his face.

"To make her aware, huh?" Lewis murmured, before glancing up at the approaching Devon. She was wearing a white puff sleeve mini dress with frills and drawstrings in detail, blending in with her fair skin and dark hair.

"My friend!" she called, holding the skirt as she turned around. His eyes were drawn to how the fabric gently wrapped around her legs as she twirled.

A grin turned on her face as she looked thrilled at how she blushed. She asked, "What do you think?"

Slowly, Lewis raised his gaze, mesmerized. It was his first time seeing her in a dress; she only wore long sweatpants or pajamas matched with a loose shirt and messy bun. So seeing her like this was like a breath of fresh air.

"Lovely," he whispered, making her smile brightly, before she asked, "Do you think it suits me?" Devon tucked her hair behind her ear, pursing her lips as her eyes glimmered.

Her expression made his eyes narrowed as he stood up, facing her squarely.

"My friend?" she called out as she raised her head, blinking innocently.

When their eyes met, Lewis shoved his hands inside his pocket as he bent over. Devon instinctively looked away, her ears burning and her heart drumming.

"You're even more dazzling up close." Lewis nodded, convinced. "But, can I ask why are you suddenly asking for my opinion?" Lewis asked, having a gut feeling that she had a reason.

Devon cleared her throat, as this was purely a coincidence. She actually planned to buy some clothes as per Ghost Lin's instruction since she had to drop by in the Lin family. But they were here, so Devon decided to shop before Ghost Lin comes back.

"I'm actually planning to meet my family," Devon answered, avoiding his gaze. "Even though I lost my memory, I thought it'll be nice to meet them. Maybe, I can remember even just a little."

Lewis furrowed his brows, recalling those proofs (Devon's personal notes), telling him how bad her relationship with them was. A sigh slipped past his lips.

"Do you want me to accompany you?" He asked, tilting his head. "I can't stop you, but I can accompany you… just in case."

Just in case, so she could return to him as a law-abiding citizen. Anything can happen, after all.

"No, it's alright." Devon smiled subtly, as she knew she'd be fine since Ghost Lin would be with her. "Anyway, I'll try more clothes!"

Devon scurried away as if a mouse running away from the cat. Lewis cocked his head and smacked his lips, thinking about how she ended up having that decision to meet her family.

Not that he was against it… or he was a little. Devon didn't have a good relationship with her family, except with her bedridden grandfather. Not to mention her current condition. So, obviously, this worried him.

"Brother," Dion called out with a furrowed brow. "The more I watch you, you two look like a couple already."

Dion's comments made Lewis glanced at him before the latter plopped down next to him. His leg rested on the other, crossing his arm as he rocked his head lightly.

"I think so too," Lewis answered as he gazed in the direction she scurried away. "Although I'm satisfied with what we are now, I can't lower my guards. The thought of 'what if she ends up liking someone else?' makes my blood boil."

If this happened in the past, Lewis wouldn't mind since the two of them had discussed this possibility. Well, they even discussed the possibility of falling in love with each other.

Dion swallowed as he felt a sense of dread crawled up in his spine upon sensing his brother's aura.

"Honestly, I think Miss Lin also likes you," Dion murmured, but Lewis just ignored it. Dion shook his head as he didn't let negativity get into him.

After he let out a deep exhale, he patted his chest. "Believe me, brother! I will surely be the best wingman ever!"

Lewis only glanced at him with an air of nonchalance. Honestly, Dion didn't seem that reliable, but he could be a little help. Even if he ended up being useless in making Devon realize Lewis' charms as a man, someone like Dion could cheer her up.

"Mhm, I'll trust you, then," Lewis hummed, nodding ever so slowly.
