Chapter 56 - Taste In Men

Three days had passed by in a blink of an eye. After Dion's nagging, he had finally convinced Lewis to give him their address, and it had been two days in a row that Dion would come by.

"Sis, Evalyn and Levi will air soon!" Dion yelled, which could be heard in the kitchen. "Come quick!"

Devon hastily picked up the bowl of popcorn. "My friend, can you bring the refreshments with you?" she asked, perking her chin towards the juice and empty glasses on the tray.

"Sure," Lewis replied, as he was still cooking another batch of popcorn. He glanced at her, who hurried back into the living room.

Dion and Devon didn't get along, nor they got along well at first. But because of the drama they were both engrossed watching, they got pretty close too quickly.

"I guess it's good that she's meeting more people," He muttered, knowing he'd return to work in two days. "How time flies and my one-week break will soon end."

Lewis never even considered having a vacation, as his work had been his life in the past. But now, he felt a little down just thinking he needed to go back to the office in two days.

'Dion is not that busy, he could keep her company,' he thought. That was his reason for giving the address to his brother and even told him about Devon and Lewis' setup.

"It should be fine," he mumbled, convincing himself he was worrying for nothing. "It should be."

Meanwhile, Devon hurriedly plopped down on the couch with the bowl of popcorn on her lap. She smiled when the show hadn't started yet.

"Sis," Dion called, meeting Devon's eyes when she turned her head to him. "Can I ask you a question while the drama hasn't started yet?"

"What is it?"

"Do you really sleep with my brother?" Dion asked. Until now, he couldn't believe that revelation. Thinking about it still rendered him speechless.

Dion knew his brother was receiving treatment so he could sleep, but no one knew the treatment was actually a person! Still, Dion wondered how Devon did it.

"Yes, I do." Devon nodded without a second hesitation. It was a decent job, after all.

"My friend is a good and gentle person, so it's easy to sleep with someone you like and trust."

'Gentle?' Dion furrowed his brows, but couldn't deny that his brother actually treated Devon differently. "You like my brother?"

"Mhm! He is my friend, after all."

"Friend…" Dion let out a defeated sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Sis, I'm curious…" he trailed off as he refocused his eyes on Devon. "What is the type of man do you like?"

"Type?" Devon tilted her head, furrowing her brows as his questions were too random.

"Yes! I mean, what kind of man will sister fall for? Sexy? Playful? Handsome? Smart-looking?" Dion clarified, figuring that Devon needed direct questions if he wanted clear answers.

Devon hummed for a while as she pondered about the answer. A man that she will fall for? She never thought about it before, as she believed a person could only feel it naturally.

"I'd say…" Devon raised her gaze and saw the actor in the commercial. "Like him." She pointed at the popular celebrity on the screen.

The expression on Dion's face instantly died down. "That guy?"

"He looks like a good person and very charming!" Devon nodded, as he was part of one drama she was watching. "I don't see any reason not to like him."

"Sis!" Dion gasped, making Devon jump in surprise. "I thought your standards are too high that even my big brother can't meet! Turns out they're too low!"

"Pardon?"

"That guy!" Dion pointed at the television, "had a terrible personality and is plagued by scandals!" he grumbled as if having a personal grudge against that celebrity.

Devon raised her brows, clueless. "Is that so?"

"Yes!"

"Are you, perhaps, acquainted with him?" Devon asked almost immediately, and Dion immediately answered with a firm, "Yes! We're even friends that's why I know he's trash!"

She frowned after hearing his last remarks. "It's not nice to badmouth someone, especially your friend behind their backs," she said, shaking her head as she glanced at the intro of the drama.

"I'm not badmouthing him. I am stating a fact!" Dion exclaimed. "That's why I'm saying this because I don't want my sis to get toyed with my friend."

A defeated sigh escaped Dion's mouth as he leaned back, having a headache as he got worked up so suddenly. He didn't mean to talk behind his friend's back, but that certain friend was a player.

This was Dion's way to protect Devon's innocence and his friend's career. He's a real hero without a cape… or what he thought.

She glanced at his distressed figure, smiling at his last remarks. She merely pointed at the actor, as she didn't have a proper answer to his question. Not that she lied. She truly thought the man was handsome.

"If that's the case, I don't like him then." Devon chuckled, shaking her head lightly. "I'm not planning on getting involved in courtship, anyway."

"Courtship, you mean dating?" Dion blinked, seeing Lewis' imaginary love meter take a huge crash.

"Dating?"

"Yes, dating! It's like seeing someone," he explained, keeping it short and simple.

"Oh." Devon nodded in understanding, "so that's how they call it," she mumbled before shifting her attention to him. "Yes, I'm not interested in dating."

"What? But why?" he frowned, feeling down every time he sensed that Lewis' chance meter decrease. "You should explore more while you're young, you know!"

"Explore…" Devon trailed off and frowned. She liked to explore, but not in that area, as she never had a need for that.

She sighed and spoke. "I'm too preoccupied with my friend and I want to keep it that way." Devon rubbed her chin and tilted her head, realizing something. "Now that I think about it, I prefer men like my friend."

"Wow…" Dion gasped as he raised his gaze, seeing Lewis, who just came and froze instantly when he heard Devon.
