Chapter 105 - Dog Food

"You have to eat more." Lewis placed a piece of broccoli on Devon's plate, making the latter frown.

"You just don't like it, do you?" Devon cast him a look, while Lewis cleared his throat as he averted his gaze. "Don't be picky, my lover. You have to eat well since you need a source of energy for tomorrow."

"My lover?"

"Are you not?" she cocked her head to the side, blinking cluelessly.

His mouth opened and closed, but no words came out as that title felt very sweet in his ear. He could listen to it every second of every day.

"Ahem! Yes, I will eat it, although I already have you as my source of energy." Lewis nodded and unhesitatingly ate something he wouldn't eat on normal days.

"This carrot too. Madame Agnes prepared us a healthy meal, so we have to eat everything." Devon pointed at the carrot and smiled brightly at him. How could he say no to her if she used her charms as her weapon?

Lewis let out a defeated sigh as he held his breath while swallowing down everything. Pleased, Devon ate every last piece on her plate.

"Right!" After swallowing her food down, Devon faced him. "Dion said he will pick me up tomorrow for the party."

"Oh? It's tomorrow?"

"Hmm!" Devon nodded as she stared at him. "Should I go?"

'You shouldn't.' Was the immediate answer that flashed in his head. However, Lewis couldn't be so selfish as to refrain her from going, right? Also, although he loved it when Devon was waiting for him to welcome him home, he wanted her to expand her horizon and simply grow on her own.

"If you ask me like that, I will tell you to stay in here." Lewis stroke her hair lovingly with a smile on his lips. "But, it's good that you can make friends and get to know people."

"That's also my thoughts since Mike is very kind, and Dion reassured me that his circle are kind people."

"Just don't forget about me, alright? Don't forget to spare me your time." He teased her, although that was his genuine worry. "I'll be really jealous if you forget about me once you have more friends."

"Really?" Devon perked up, batting her eyes coquettishly.

"You seem like you want me to get jealous." His eyes narrowed as he noticed the faint smirk that resurfaced on her lips briefly. "I guarantee you, you won't find it sweet if someone approaches you with malicious intent."

"I don't find it sweet, but I find it very reassuring." She giggled before perking up higher to give him a kiss on the cheek.

"I want more," Lewis requested as he plucked his lips, but Devon suddenly felt the urge to tease him.

"Finish up first."

A sigh slipped past his lips as he set his eyes on the vegetables on his plate. "Babe, it scares me at how fast you can take advantage of my weakness."

"Eat it, my lover," she giggled while poking his cheek, watching him eat everything with a heavy heart.

As usual, they spent their night watching dramas, Devon depriving Lewis of kisses, teasing each other, before sleeping in each other's embrace.

"How can these two be so obstinate?" Ghost Lin muttered as she stood above the two, who were sleeping soundly. "Now that I think about it, I died as a vir… gin."

Her mouth slowly fell down as her breath hitched. Ghost Lin covered her lips as she realized she never experienced such pleasure in her life.

"Ughh!" she wept, dashing through the wall as never thought she missed too many things in life.

"Hey, Your Majesty!" Ghost Lin yelled as she barged into the Secret Garden bar and lounge where Kween and Marl were hanging out. She floated angrily towards the bar counter, ignoring everyone who was like mannequins.

Kween's face immediately distorted upon seeing the stubborn ghost after a while. Just when she visited the place after so long, Ghost Lin had come as well.

"How did you know I was here, huh?! Do you have some tracking device or something?!" Kween grumbled as she clicked her tongue in irritation.

"Give me a body right now!" Ghost Lin slammed her hand against the bar counter with her eyes glinting with determination. "I need a body tonight!"

"What…" Kween was so speechless at this sudden request she could only scoff for a moment. "Who do you think I am, huh?! I am a hardworking freelance angel! Not a genie who fulfills three wishes!"

"Goodness… I didn't know genies are more useful than angels." Ghost Lin clicked her tongue in dismay, gazing at Kween with utter disdain. "What did I expect? Of all bodies you can occupy, you chose a homeless instead of a socialite."

Kween ground her teeth as her grip around the glass tightened. How dare this ghost insult her like that? Didn't she listen when Kween told her she had restrictions because Kween was a fallen angel?

"Haha!" Marl chuckled in a low tone before sliding a glass of beverage towards the ghost. "On the house."

"Wow… Marl! You've improved!" Ghost Lin clapped happily as this was the first time Marl offered her a drink first. "Thank you very much!"

Ghost Lin tried to grab the glass but frowned when her hand passed through. "Fuck."

"Kween can't grant you a body because that is out of her jurisdiction and task," Marl explained kindly, glancing at the infuriated Kween, who chugged down her drinks out of frustration.

"I suppose a grim reaper can't do that as well, since your job is to pick up souls," Ghost Lin murmured, and Marl nodded with the same smile on his face. "I thought since you're not humans, you're great people. It turns out you're just slaves with your works as well."

Marl chuckled once again, as he couldn't argue with her about that. "Anyway, why are you so eager to have a body tonight? It seemed urgent."

Ghost Lin pursed her lips as she darted her eyes from Kween to Marl. She hesitated to tell the reason at first, but she thought honesty was the best policy won over her.

"I want to have a one-night stand." She cleared her throat and averted her gaze. "You took away my life too soon. If only I know I would die that day, I should've taken anyone to sleep with me."

"Just when I thought there are more important reasons. It turns out it's something so unimportant." Kween shook her head sideways, sighing heavily before looking up to Marl.

Marl was quick to notice what Kween wanted. So he smiled and made her another beverage and left the conversation for now.

"You will not understand, Chacha." Ghost Lin lamented as she bent over and rested her head on the bar counter. "I died as a virgin."

"What gave you the impression I won't understand?"

"Duh? Gurl, do you even know what sex is?" Ghost Lin scoffed at Kween in disdain but furrowed her brows when Kween tilted her head to the side. She slowly assisted herself to sit up and faced Kween, bobbing her face to inspect her.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" asked Kween as she drew back a little.

"You… why do you look like you're experienced in that field?" Ghost Lin questioned, wide-eye. "Don't tell me you're actually a devil and not an angel?"

Kween's lips parted, but no words came out immediately. "Well, I worked under Lucy's management for some time, but I'm freelancing now." She scratched her cheek as her story was longer than that, but well, she didn't want to detail it.

"So you're saying even an angel knows that… pleasure?" Ghost Lin's heart sank as she placed her palm across her chest.

"Unlike you, I am the real epitome of not having regrets." Kween shrugged proudly and turned to Marl when he slid another glass towards her.

"Marl will surely question his inventory again." Marl reminded her, stroking Kween's cheek with his thumb. "This is the last one, alright?"

"Yes~!" Kween smiled sweetly as if she was the most beautiful woman who ever existed.

Seeing how these two act so lovey-dovey in front of her made Ghost Lin cringe. Just what sort of scene was she witnessing? Her eyes slowly dilated as she darted her gaze from Kween to Marl aggressively.

"You two! Don't tell me!" Ghost Lin's breath hitched as she gasped.

"What?" Kween cast her an annoyed look. "Is there something wrong with acting sweetly with my lover?"

"Lover?! What the!"

Marl chuckled in a low tone as he bent over, resting his arms against the bar counter. "It's a long story, but that's what we are. And also, just to be clear, we don't use Marl and Kween's body to satisfy our worldly desire."

"That's right~! My lover is more handsome than everyone, anyway~! Kyah~!" Kween fangirled as they stared at each other lovingly.

Ghost Lin let out a scoff in disbelief at how cruel this world was. "I'm not a dog… so, why do people keep feeding me dog food?"
