Chapter 104 - Recharge

After that matter was resolved, Devon and Ghost Lin waited for Lewis to arrive, but there's still no sign of him.

"Girl, you can always wait in the living room," Ghost Lin grumbled as she gazed at Devon, who was now slumped on the floor.

"But I want to welcome him as soon as he opens the door."

"Wow… you're crazy." Ghost Lin scrunched her nose up in dismay. "I've been in love before, but I never did that."

"Well, I guess you never love someone like I do." Devon shrugged her shoulder, making Ghost Lin cringe. "Oh! Right, can I ask you something?"

"Aren't you asking me right now?"

Devon clicked her tongue, as she couldn't believe how this ghost recovered so quickly. "I was wondering about something. Lu is such a gentleman. Did you not really fall in love with him? No matter how I think about it, it doesn't make sense."

"What gave you the impression I didn't like him at some point?"

Her response rendered Devon speechless momentarily. Her eyes dilated a little, blinking as she covered her lips to cover her gaped mouth.

"Haist. This girl." Ghost Lin clicked her tongue as Devon was so pure not to hop into conclusion. "Girl, let me tell you. Handsome Qin and I fell in love at first sight."

"Pardon?"

"Do you think Sleepy Qin will allow me to sleep with him if he wasn't attracted to me? And do you also think I will sleep with him?" Ghost Lin questioned in a knowing tone.

"Well, considering you live a comfortable life sleeping with a gentleman, I think you will."

"Wow, Devon! Wow!" Ghost Lin gasped and clapped slowly, as Devon really exposed her. "Even if that's the case, do you think that short-tempered young master will suck up living with me?"

That truly hit the point in Devon's head. Ghost Lin seemed she wasn't the best person to live with unless you find her character amiable in some ways.

"To be honest, I really like him at first. So I drew the line before I fall in love with him." Ghost Lin rubbed her chin, as she didn't feel the need to lie to Devon.

"Why?" Devon frowned. "If you like him and he likes you back, why did you draw the line? You can be a bit happier if you give yourself a chance."

Ghost Lin took a deep breath and exhaled it sharply, giving her a look of pity. "Girl, look at me."

Devon blinked, seeing that Ghost Lin moved closer to her while pointing at herself. She furrowed her brows and cocked her head while listening to Ghost Lin's orders.

Ghost Lin continued, "I think I also asked you this, but do you think I am the type of person who can sincerely tell him, 'I will love you even if you're the poorest man on earth?'" she waited for Devon's response as the latter mulled over her question.

"No." Devon shook her head after careful consideration. Ghost Lin was a bit materialistic and too blunt to the point she could be rude.

"Exactly! That guy only likes people who are sincere. Also…" Ghost Lin trailed off as she leaned back with her palm on the floor. "Our relationship won't last since we're both fire elements."

"Fire elements? Are you perhaps a magician?"

"Oh, dear. What I'm saying is, if one is fire, the other should be water. However, we're both like ticking time bombs, and if one explodes, the other will explode as well. I don't think my personality and his personality will find an equilibrium." Ghost Lin explained with a shrug. "I think he also knew that deep down, so he kept his distance."

"How can you say all that when you haven't even tried?" Devon murmured, as those were just speculations. "You might've had a change of heart once you tried to open up your heart."

"Girl, let me ask you. Do you think you will fall for that third young master?" Ghost Lin raised a brow and bat her eyes ever so slowly.

"You mean Dion?" Devon asked and Ghost Lin nodded. She pursed her lips as all the hairs of her body raised with the sheer thought of it.

"See? I'll ask you the same question. How do you know you two won't work if you don't open up your heart?"

"Alright!" Devon exclaimed, surrendering to Ghost Lin's way of explaining things. "Dion is a great man, but I don't see him that way. He is more like a brother to me."

Ghost Lin clicked her tongue continuously and shook her head. "So am I. Lewis is a great man, but I learned not to look at him that way and got used to it."

"You really have the strangest way of explaining things, Ghost Lin," Devon murmured with a pout.

"Well, you'll be surprised with how I deal with things."

"I don't think I will." Devon shook her head as she had mentally prepared for the worst regarding Ghost Lin's past. "Anyway, about that girl we met in Dion's company… "

"Who? The one who likes that superstar? I mean, they all like him, but which one?"

Devon tried to recall her name until her eyes brightened up. "Avah! It seems she bore a hidden grudge against you. What did you do to her?"

"Who the fuck is that Aha girl?"

"You didn't know her? She said you went into the same school!" Devon frowned, as it didn't seem Ghost Lin was feigning ignorance. "Also, her name is Avah, nor Aha."

Ghost Lin pondered for a moment, recalling all the faces around that table at that time. "Ahh… that girl. I think we did."

"I thought you were friends?"

"Girl, I was very popular. Just look in the mirror." Ghost Lin let out a sigh as she stared at Devon. "I won't be surprised if tardy Qin isn't worried about having a long list of love rivals."

"You praise your face so much," Devon murmured, not taking her words to the heart. "I'm not saying this face is bad, but I don't think Lu will be so petty to worry about those things."

"Love can make…" Ghost Lin trailed off as Devon suddenly sprung up on her feet, and dashed towards the door as soon as the sound of the door unlocking reached their ear.

"Lu~!" Devon sweetly welcomed him. She hopped to him with her arms spread wide before melting into his embrace.

Her warmth and excitement that slowly enveloped his heart made him smile. Lewis slowly wrapped his arms around her, recharging himself with her embrace.

"I'm home. I missed you," He whispered as all his stress and worries magically vanished.

"Wow…" Ghost Lin covered her lips in dismay, floating and left in a rush while yelling, "I can't take this dog food. I'm no masochist! I'll come back later!"
