Chapter 115 - Save The World

In the end, Devon just had to see Bella flaunting her hourglass body as she walked towards the pool. Whistles from their friends who remained at the party resonated in the air.

"Swimsuit… that is a swimsuit," she muttered while Bella smiled at her from a distance. "Is this world fancy wearing less clothes?"

Devon turned her head to Dion, who was on the other chaise lounge chair with a bottle of beer in his hand. While his other hand was behind his head, slowly turning it in her direction.

"Well, its preference, sis. Some find their confidence by showing more skin, while some were more confident in revealing less. Either way, this world offers more freedom."

"Freedom… I see." She nodded in understanding, jolting when someone suddenly jumped towards the pool.

"Haha! You're like a grandma, sis!" Dion teased, as Devon was always so jumpy.

"It startled me." She patted her chest, ignoring his teasing as the others started returning after changing their clothes for a pool party.

Dion stared at her for a moment with a smile on his face. "Sis," he called to get her attention.

When his eyes met hers, he smacked his lips. "Thank you."

"For, what?"

"For… being stubborn." He chortled as he peeled his eyes away from her and onto his friends around the pool. "When you asked if I was running away, yes, I was. I know that deep down, just like always, I'm running away. If you didn't stop me, I wouldn't know that my friends would rather party than care about what's going on outside."

"You look very free-spirited, but you're quite sensitive." Devon chuckled as she stared at his side profile, relieved that Dion had calmed down. "Not everyone is out there to get you, my little brother. You have to open up a bit more and see the people around you."

From her observation throughout the night, Dion was like a popular loner. Like this certain circle, everyone was close to each other, but Dion was just barely linking. Bella, for example, admired Dion. Although Bella had this impression that her infatuation was love, she was still willing to have a strong relationship/friendship with him.

It was just that Dion couldn't open up completely. If he wanted to create a bond just like how his relationship with Mike, Dion had to exert the same effort as them.

"People come and go, and it'll be a shame if you missed a friendship just because you can't completely open up your heart to people," Devon muttered as she sipped her glass of juice.

"But what if they ended up just using me? Worse, hurt me?"

"If they hurt you, then heal and move on. It is difficult, but we can't always live trapped in our own fears." She arched a brow and cocked her head at him. "Some people enter our lives and give us a lesson, while others stay. What matters the most is the experience because… that is life."

"You're like some kind of sage, sis."

"I just picked up the habit of observing people by being surrounded by different kinds of people." She smiled, gazing up at the night sky full of stars. "Back in my world, people just don't come and go. Their head will either roll or get dismembered."

Dion's froze suddenly as he felt a chill ran down his spine, wide eye. He tried to humor her earlier, but what was this she was saying? His eyes fell to her drink, furrowing his brows before raising his head to see her reddening cheek.

"I noticed that in here, if one betrays another, death is not the only option. It is quite a peaceful life." Devon chuckled as she sipped another drink and snapped her eyes at him. "Although words can be hurtful, the schemes in the imperial palace are quite a different caliber. It makes me miss my sword sometimes."

"Sis, are you drunk?" Dion gasped as he jolted from his seat, flinging his legs to the side as he snatched her drink away. He didn't waste a second as took a sip on it.

Devon covered her lips, staring at him in disbelief. "How… why… are you kissing me?"

"Ahhhh???" His eyes went wider as he raised his head. "Sis, what are you talking about?! I'm testing if your drink had some alcohol!"

"But you drank where I was drinking!"

He gasped in distress as her eyes were screaming 'how dare you to defile me?!' How could she think like that?! Was she like this whenever she was drunk? How could she accuse him of doing such a scary thing?

"If I was in my world, I would've had you decapitated," she murmured and Dion, thankfully, didn't hear her properly. "Such insolence… how am I supposed to face your brother now?"

"Sis… goodness. I should've gotten you milk instead. I should have known the only safe drinks here is water." Dion sighed heavily as he thought of the right words to explain everything to Lewis. His issue was one thing, but this… Dion was screwed.

"Dev~!" Bella called as she ran towards them, hair wet, body drenched. "Don't you really want to swim? It's fun!"

"Bella, my dearest." Devon reached for Bella's hand as she sighed. "Please save me from my little brother. He is a pervert."

Bella knitted her brows as she shifted her eyes towards Dion. The latter, however, nearly choked on his own saliva, as this accusation was too much!

"Sis! I didn't — don't believe her! I just sipped from her drink to check if she's drunk!" he explained in urgency as Bella's eyes glinted with caution.

"Brother Di, you know all drinks here are mixed with alcohols," Bella uttered in a low tone, not knowing what to do. She liked Dion, even now, she still does, but Bella liked Devon even more.

"Aish! Sis! Do you hate me? Why would you slander me?!"

Devon let out a sigh as her eyes fluttered ever so slowly. "Was it called a slander when I feel violated regardless of whether it's the norm in this world? Shall I slit your throat and say it was a norm in my world?"

"What?! You really hate me?!" he gasped in distress, thinking she was merely telling him a harmless example. Little did he know, her words were real as back in her world, grave punishments leading to death would shock no one.

She didn't speak anymore as he wiped her lips, smearing her lipsticks. "How dare you… yes, I might hate you now."

"Ughh!!! Who the fuck put a fucking alcohol in every liquid in this place?!" Dion grumbled aloud, catching everyone's attention.

His friends swam near them, lining up with their arms above the pool. They darted their eyes, all equally drunk as they were swimming and drinking in between.

"It's a party, so no one is safe." Mike, who hadn't read the situation, happily raised his hand. "Only the water from the toilet is safe."

"You!" Dion's eyes darkened with rage, cracking his knuckles while stretching his neck from side to side. "Why would you get my angel-like sister drunk?"

"Ah! What did I do?!" Mike immediately floated back to where Dion couldn't reach him.

"Come here, Michael. I'll fucking end you."

"Why would I if you said so yourself that you'll be going to end me? No, I won't!"

"Hahaha! This guy is testing me."

Mike floated away, even more, yelling, "I still have trees to plant! Do you know that even this world relies on me to save it?! Don't kill me!"

"I will bury you in your tree planting project to use you as fertilizer." Dion took off his jacket as he would jump into the pool if Mike won't go to him. "Don't you worry, now come here."

"Tree planting?" While the two argued, Devon tilted her head and cast Bella a look.

"My senior started a campaign about planting trees so the world can breathe… he says," One man from the pool explained, catching Devon's attention.

Despite his explanation, Devon was still confused. "So the world can breathe?"

"He means to improve air quality by producing oxygen," Bella chimed in. "Because of the increasing population, this project is excellent."

"But, why would you plant trees?" Devon inquired, casting everyone a look as they all bore the same confusion in their eyes. "If the problem is the population, why not kill hundreds of thousands of people every day since it's the same?"

"…" How could she say that with such a straight serious face on her face? Even Dion and Mike had to stop as the former shifted his attention to her, wide-eyed.

"If you do that, the world can breathe." She nodded in agreement, as that just sounded plausible for her.

'She's joking. She's joking. She's joking.' Were the repeated chants in their head, but alas, no one could stop the chill running down their spine.

"Hah… Dev, do you really have to chase them away like that?" Bella chuckled awkwardly because even she was weirded out by her.

"Hmm?" Devon blinked innocently, tilting her head as she moved her gaze around them. "But I'm serious."

"Oh, my gosh…" Dion gasped as he pounded the bottom of his fist against his shoulder, feeling his blood pressure arising from pushing Devon to utter such weird, sadistic remarks. "Mike, come here.. You'll be the first in those hundreds of thousands of people."
