Chapter 120 - So Many D In The World

Devon slid down in the tub, her lips sinking while staring at nothingness. She felt hot. Even the water in the tub couldn't cool her body down.

'I can still feel his firm grip around my waist,' she thought, thinking of what just happened between her and Lewis. 'Strange… how I love his hunger.'

Her cheek flushed in red as she recalled what happened earlier. This was what happened…

"Scram!" yelled Lewis as soon as he threw the pillow. Her breath hitched, froze underneath him as realization snapped her awake.

"Tch." Lewis clicked his tongue in irritation as he breathed out, stretching his neck in a circular motion. "I should've locked the door."

Lewis quirked a brow as he gazed down at her, seeing her shocked expression. "Awake now?"

"I —" She pursed her lips, staring back at him as he got off of her. He hooked her legs up and sat down, letting her feet rest on his lap.

"You should shower, love. I feel like I shot my foot instead of teaching you a lesson." He sighed, scratching his temple in annoyance. "I'm really losing my mind."

Devon slowly assisted herself up, her eyes on him. It seemed he misunderstood her expression just now.

"Why?" she asked, making him turn his head to her. "I think it was me who lost my mind… I don't want you to stop."

"What?"

She raised her head to him, eyes clear with intention. "I like it."

Devon never surrendered her heart to anyone. Her brother might've taken her body forcefully, but never her heart. She didn't think there would be a day she would want to be touched by anyone, ever. But if it was Lewis… she didn't mind.

"I told you, Miss Lin Devon." Lewis' eyes darkened as he faced her squarely. "Once you're sober, we can do anything you want, but not now. I don't want to give you the excuse that you're under the influence of alcohol."

That answer, though, was just what she wanted to hear. Words of a man who didn't want to take advantage of her. The weight of his sincerity and genuine love… she felt them all. She had known for a long time he was a sincere man, but it never ceased to amaze her.

"I'm sober now." She raised a hand and clipped her fingers on his unbuttoned collar. "Take me."

He froze as soon as that last remark caressed his ear. Was that a request or an order? Either way, it brought this conflict to his heart.

"You…" Lewis murmured as he tilted his head, leaning in for a kiss. "… really know how to pull my heartstrings."

Devon closed her eyes, sliding her arms over his shoulder. This time, his kiss was restrained, but passionate. His lips parted, sliding his tongue in while his arm wrapped around her waist. He lifted her and yank her to his lap, cupping her jaw with his fingers on the side of her neck.

"No," He panted for air as he broke the kiss reluctantly, her forehead resting against his. "Not this way, love."

Lewis gritted his teeth, grinding it because one more push and he would snap. He would eat all his words and just indulge in his desire to make her his.

"Don't you want me?" she asked under her breath, also gasping for air, inhaling his hot breaths.

"I do." He leaned in and placed a peck on her soft lips. "You don't have any idea, love, how much I want you… but not this way. You can say you're sober, but that's not enough."

"Those words you utter are what makes me lose my mind, Lu." Devon slowly withdrew her head back, cupping his jaw as her eyes softened. "For refusing something just because you think you are taking advantage of it, and even having the ability to own something, but don't… you make me want to give you my all."

"Owning… I had too many properties. I can't even count. But owning you is not what I want, Dev," He corrected and cupped her jaw, stroking her cheek with his thumb. "Loving you and being loved back is what I want and if I'm going to take you, I'd rather do it during our wedding night."

His remarks made her chuckle. For a man who wanted it to make it feel right and legal despite her consent, it was a new concept for her. Men in her world weren't as obstinate as this. They just take everything they desire; lands, women, lives. Just everything.

"Go shower first. Derek is waiting and I have to talk to Dion and Mike." He clicked his tongue and lifted his head for another kiss.

She frowned, as there was just this sexual frustration that lingered in her heart. "Can't I stay here and kiss you until they come?"

"Goodness, what should I do with you?" he sighed and cupped both her cheeks. How was he supposed to let her go? He must be a deity for putting her first before his own selfish wants and needs.

"Go. It won't be long, hmm?" Lewis raised his brows, his eyes screaming for her to listen.

Devon still had her frown, feeling a bit dejected, as she had missed him because of the party. "Fine."

[Present time]

"Wedding night…" Devon murmured as she smiled, blushing. Did that mean he had always thought of marrying her? It was nice to date someone who had the mentality of marriage.

"This is not my first marriage, but…" she trailed off as her eyes softened, biting her lower lip. "… if it's him, I don't mind, I guess."

"Wow, Devon, Wow." Devon jumped slightly when Ghost Lin's voice suddenly came to her side. She turned her head just to see Ghost Lin squatting down beside the tub.

"Ghost Lin?!" she exclaimed, patting her bare chest as she nearly had a heart attack. "Can you stop startling me? I will have a heart problem if you keep doing that."

Ghost Lin clicked her tongue as she was being wrong. "I didn't mean to startle you."

"Goodness… I think I'm totally sober now." Devon sighed, shaking her head before casting Ghost Lin a look. "Where have you been, by the way? You just disappeared without a word earlier."

"I didn't." Ghost Lin raised a brow and cocked her head to the side.

"What do you mean, you didn't? I didn't see you. Do you even know what happened?"

"Of course I know that you and Dion are married in the eyes of the many." Ghost Lin nodded and spoke as a matter of fact. "I didn't go anywhere, after all."

"Then, where have you been?"

Ghost Lin raised a brow. "Beside you?"

"Huh?" Devon frowned, as there was no way Ghost Lin was telling the truth. If Ghost Lin didn't disappear, she must have had wandered around as an actual ghost does.

Ghost Lin, however, pursed her lips and refrained from explaining it to her. If she said, Devon just suddenly couldn't hear or see her, it would surely alarm her. Thus, Ghost Lin was better off not telling her about this.

"Anyway, are you thinking of marrying that guy? No other choices?" Ghost Lin asked, changing the subject away from her.

Devon pressed her lips, smiling. "Well, if he proposed… I think I will."

"You don't want to experiment?"

"Huh?"

"I mean, you just got into this world. You haven't met many people yet! Tying yourself down in marriage is a little… impulsive?" Ghost Lin explained. "Not that I am against it, as Mature Qin is one of the best options. But still, there's so many dicks in the world, you know what I mean?"

"No, I do not understand what you mean." Devon frowned. "You sound like Bella, my new friend. She also said 'experimenting', and I dislike it."

"You're old fashion, of course, you won't like it." Ghost Lin sighed. What did she expect? That Devon would fool around with men? Just because Ghost Lin regretted not getting laid before becoming a ghost?

"I'm not saying this… experiments are terrible. I think they have their perks, but it is just not my style." Devon shook her head, sighing as she cast Ghost Lin a look. "What this party told me is that I dislike other men other than Lu."

"You depend on him too much, Lin Devon." Ghost Lin commented, feeling a little worried about this.

"I know… is it bad?" this time, Devon didn't argue as her voice lowered.

"Maybe? Maybe not?" the ghost shrugged as she cocked her head. "I'm just concerned that you depend on him so much you're not thinking straight."

"What do you mean I'm not thinking straight?"

"Girl, did I tell you about my ex? My previous lover?"

Devon pursed her lips as it reminded her of Ghost Lin's previous lover, Quentin. She looked at the ghost straight in the eye, waiting for her next words.

"It's all nice that you like or love that rich Qin, but don't make anyone your world." Ghost Lin clicked her tongue as she felt like a mother imparting her wisdom to her silly child. "Because if you make someone your world, you will end up suffocating them — worse, ruining your relationship.. If I were you, instead of thinking about marriage this soon, have some goal and create your own world that you can share with him."
