Chapter 96 - Had he found someone with the same condition as him? (1)
Du Ruo simply continued walking down the main path.
After the end of the world, Du Ruo hadn't been able to be so relaxed while outside. The air smelled fresh and lovely. He took a couple of deep breaths. Every breath he took brought him close to death. This was probably going to be his last moments before death.
Would he have a consciousness after mutating, or would he simply be a walking corpse as depicted in movies?
Something suddenly rushed out from the side and slammed into Du Ruo headfirst.
It was a girl. She had long hair that went past her shoulders. She was wearing shorts and had a backpack. She looked quite pretty.
Unfortunately, there was no expression on her face, and her bloodshot gaze was blank.
Du Ruo didn't want to be bitten into pieces seconds before he would turn into a zombie. He only hesitated for a moment before deciding to punch her and run away.
To his surprise, the girl treated him as if he was nothing. She walked around him and left.
She left?
Du Ruo took out his phone to look at himself.
His eyes were bloodshot. He looked quite similar to a zombie.
He immediately fell into deep self-doubt.
Du Ruo thought hard. Am I still a person? Or have I already changed into a zombie, and I still don't know it?
Du Ruo quickly asked himself a question; what was 432 times 654? It was definitely impossible for zombies to figure out that answer. The one's place must be 8, what about the ten's place? Was it 2? What about the hundred's place? He couldn't figure that out.
While he was racking his brains to figure out that answer, he suddenly saw a person flitting through the shadow of the trees.
Du Ruo was sure that it was a human instead of a zombie because of the person's fluid movements.
It was a tall and thin man that looked to be in his 30's. He was carrying a huge bag on his back and holding another bag with his hand. He was in a rush and scanning his surroundings from time to time, looking quite wary.
Du Ruo suddenly realized that the movements of humans and zombies were different.
Du Ruo quickened his pace to match that man's, and he also followed him in turning his head left and right.
Du Ruo looked at his shadow. His tall figure cast a long shadow under the moonlight. His shadow's motion couldn't look more stupid as he looked left and right. He looked more like a zombie than a human.
That tall and thin man was still walking furtively, and he had reached an intersection.
Du Ruo was in the middle of the path, and he saw two male zombies coming towards him.
Just as Du Ruo was about to warn the man, he saw that the man had also seen the zombies over there. But surprisingly, the man didn't seem to care and walked across the intersection anyway.
More importantly, those two male zombies passed by that man as if they didn't see him.
Du Ruo: ???
Had he found someone with the same condition as him?
The man continued to stealthily walk forward under the covers of the roadside shadows and paid no attention to the zombies, so it was humans that he was wary of, not zombies.
While Du Ruo was conflicted between rushing forward to recognize his new friend or continuing to follow him, he saw that man crossing the tree-lined path and turn a corner to go into a building.
Du Ruo followed him. The door was closed and had a place to press a key card to open. The tall and thin man took out a small square thing from his bag and placed it against that place.
There was a middle-aged zombie dressed in a dorm manager uniform walking over here.
This time, Du Ruo had experience. He didn't have to warn that guy. Zombies wouldn't attack him.
The zombie passed by Du Ruo and suddenly stopped and slowly turned its head as if it was adjusting a radar to receive a signal. Target acquired; it was the man at the entrance of the building. It darted forward.
The tall and thin man was preoccupied with tinkering with his gadget and didn't have his guard up at all.
Du Ruo instinctively blurted out, "Watch out!"
