Chapter 97 - Had he found someone with the same condition as him? (2)
Du Ruo hadn't spoken in a while, and his throat was still sore. His voice came out hoarse.
The tall and thin man was startled by Du Ruo. Noticing the zombie rushing towards him, he curiously asked, "Why did it stop working again?"
He actually ignored the zombie, lowered his head, and rummaged through his bag.
Du Ruo thought; dude, you're about to become zombie food! What good thing is in your bag that you have to look for it now?
Du Ruo wasn't scared of the zombie at all. He couldn't stand by and do nothing. He strode over and punched the zombie.
He didn't have to worry about getting infected and could freely attack with his bare hands. The middle-aged dorm manager zombie's physique was no match for Du Ruo and was easily beaten up.
The tall and thin man finally took out a small box from his box. He opened it and took out a syringe.
Du Ruo wanted to mock him; your needle is too thin to kill zombies. It can only be used to give them acupuncture.
And then, he saw the tall and thin man pull up his sleeve and intrepidly place the needle on his arm.
Even if the middle-aged zombie had been beaten up and was lying on its stomach, it didn't give up. It struggled to get up and madly rushed over again. Just like last time, it ignored Du Ruo and beelined to the tall and thin man.
The tall and thin man didn't pay attention to the zombie. His focus was all on Du Ruo. His eyes were full of interest.
"Please punch that zombie again, thank you," he said to Du Ruo while injecting the needle. His tone was calm and polite.
Du Ruo was baffled, but he still punched the zombie.
Once again, the zombie fell to the ground.
Du Ruo's vision suddenly went dark, and he didn't know what happened after that.
After an unknown time had passed, Du Ruo woke up and saw fluorescent white lights. His vision was a bit blurry from the sudden brightness. He was lying back on an office swivel chair, and his right sleeve was rolled up.
He quickly noticed that there was another needle mark on his arm in addition to the one from when Jiang Xu drew his blood.
"Awake?" The tall and thin man turned from a laboratory table to face him.
Under the bright fluorescent lights, the man's skin was cold and pale without any trace of blood, but he had a head of thick black hair, and his pupils were almost as dark as his hair.
Du Ruo was a bit helpless. "If you want to draw my blood, can you please draw from the other arm?" His voice wasn't as hoarse as before.
"Oh." The man walked over and calmly responded, "I drew blood from both of your arms."
Du Ruo: "..."
The man smiled. "Your condition is very special. It's very interesting. You still have your consciousness, but zombies don't attack you. I've traveled so far, but I've never seen a person like you."
Du Ruo retorted, "Aren't you the same? I followed you here. They didn't try to bite you either."
The man gently shook his head. "I'm different. I injected something to get that effect. You naturally have that. What you have works better than the drug I made to make myself invisible to zombies, so I want to see what's going on. Who knows? I might find something to improve my drug."
"So did you find anything?" Du Ruo wanted to sit up, but the strength was gone from his body.
"No, I didn't have time. I only took blood samples."
The man walked to a cabinet by the wall, rummaged through it, and complained in a quiet voice, "Why is Shui University's virology laboratory so poor? Is this a slum? I can't find anything I need."
Du Ruo looked around. It really looked like a laboratory.
There were several rows of fluorescent lights on the ceiling. There was a row of large stainless steel laboratory tables in the middle of the room. There was also a sink, a fume hood, and an oven along one of the walls. On the other side of the room, there were tables and several big cabinets.
This man called this place a virology laboratory. It should be the laboratory that Jiang Xu was part of.
"Did you come here to find something?" Du Ruo tried to strike up a conversation.
