Shen Tiantian’s refusal caught Shan Yi off guard. She thought her wife would agree. After all, staying at home with her mother all day and staring at the walls would be boring, right?
Before she could speak, Shen Tiantian touched her belly and added, “Didn’t little aunt just say I need more exercise? So I want to join a prenatal yoga class.”
Shan Yi’s gaze fell on her belly, a softness emerging in her eyes. “Alright, I’ll accompany you.”
“You’ll accompany me?”
“Mm-hmm, I’ll take you there and bring you back home.”
Shen Tiantian smiled, “Worried?”
Shan Yi hugged her, “Of course, your situation is different now.”
Shen Tiantian pouted discontentedly, “Just because I’m pregnant, there’s no need to make such a fuss.”
Shan Yi just quietly looked at her without saying a word.
Knowing that this expression on her wife’s face was a sign of impending anger, Shen Tiantian shrank her neck and took the initiative to hold her hand, trying to please her: “Alright, alright, will you accompany me then? Shall we start our date?”
Shan Yi looked at her indulgently and somewhat helplessly, finding it increasingly difficult to deal with her, “By the way, our wedding photos have been mailed over and will arrive tomorrow.”
Shen Tiantian widened her eyes, “Really?”
“Yeah, do you want to see the proofs first?” Shan Yi smiled.
Shen Tiantian nodded heavily.
After waiting for so long, eagerly anticipating them, of course, she had to see them first.
Shan Yi was amused by her expression and raised an eyebrow: “So, no more date?”
Seemingly caught off guard by her question, Shen Tiantian was silent for a few seconds, weighing between the date and seeing the photos. After a while, she lifted her eyes weakly and said: “Can’t we do both?”
“You silly.” Shan Yi pinched her cheek, “Do you know that when you look like this, it makes me want to do something naughty.”
Shen Tiantian blushed, “You…”
Shan Yi couldn’t help but laugh, “That’s true, but not now. Besides, you’ve been walking for a while and must be tired. Let’s find a place to sit first.”
“Okay, I want to eat cake,” Shen Tiantian said stubbornly.
“Although you shouldn’t eat too much of this, but if my wife wants it, then we’ll go have cake.”
Shen Tiantian grinned widely, then glanced down at their tightly held hands, feeling a fullness of contentment and happiness in her heart.
How lucky she was to be loved by such a good woman.
Compared to usual, today, just after the rain, it was relatively cool. The air conditioning in the cake shop was set low. As they stepped inside, a cold gust of wind greeted them, making Shen Tiantian shiver.
Shan Yi wrapped his arm around her waist, “Cold?”
Shen Tiantian shook her head: “It was a bit cold when we came in, but I’m almost used to it now.”
Shan Yi felt relieved, “What cake do you want? They’re all freshly made here, so the taste should be better.”
Shen Tiantian ordered a coconut chestnut mini cake. Shan Yi paid, then led her wife upstairs to the second floor seating area. They sat by a transparent railing, where they could see people coming and going downstairs just by lowering their eyes.
At this time, everyone’s footsteps seemed a bit hurried, as if they were rushing back to work. Besides a few young couples, they were the only ones on the second floor.
At first, she thought the cake would be quite large, but when it was served, Shen Tiantian was completely stunned.
This tiny thing costs over eighty…..
She had no idea it would be this small, so she only ordered one. The piece in front of her wasn’t even enough for her to eat, what would her wife do?
They had to buy another one.
“Should we buy another one?”
“You shouldn’t eat too much.” There was too much cream on the cake, and if Shen Tiantian ate too much, she would vomit again.
“No, it’s for you,” Shen Tian Tian explained.
Shan Yi flashed a rare greedy smile, “Eating one cake together is romantic.”
Shen Tiantian: …..
Shan Yi suppressed a laugh, “Hurry and eat.”
“Do you want some?”
“Feed me.”
Shen Tiantian glanced around and saw that no one had noticed them. She scooped up a small bite with a spoon and brought it to her wife’s lips.
Shan Yi didn’t hesitate to open her mouth and take the spoon, but her gaze was fixed on Shen Tiantian’s face, with a slight upward tilt at the corners of her eyes, as if she were smiling.
Another blush swept over her face.
After feeding her a bite, Shen Tiantian ignored her and let her watch her with a face full of grievance.
The cake quickly diminished to just one corner, when suddenly Shan Yi stood up, “I’ll be back in a moment. Wait for me here.”
“Okay,” Shen Tiantian licked the crumbs from the corner of her mouth, not bothering to ask where she was going or what she was going to do. Her eyes unconsciously followed her downstairs.
She saw Shan Yi walk up to the counter, not knowing what she was doing. Since they were far from the front desk, she couldn’t hear what was being said. Before long, she saw Shan Yi scan a QR code and make a payment on her phone.
Shan Yi returned upstairs, and the cake on the table remained untouched. Shen Tiantian scooped up another bite and stuffed it into her mouth, then redirected her gaze as she watched her wife sit across from her again.
“What did you go do?” Shen Tiantian asked, not mentioning seeing her make the payment, but teasing, “Did you buy another one for me?”
“Yeah,” Shan Yi didn’t deny it, pausing before adding, “Bought one for little Auntie too.”
Alright, Shen Tiantian didn’t say anything, continuing to dig into the cake unhappily.
After finishing the cake, her mouth was left with a cloying sweetness.
Before going to the postpartum care center, she had a bowl of rice with toppings and a cup of fruit tea. She rubbed her belly, feeling like she wouldn’t be too full. Indeed, when tired, she could eat a bit more. Shen Tiantian licked the corner of her mouth, savoring the taste of the cake.
She wanted to have another one, but she knew Shan Yi definitely wouldn’t allow it. With a hint of grievance, she stared at her belly and said: “After getting rid of this little thing, I’ll come here and eat until I’m full.”
Shan Yi chuckled again, “You’re treating our daughter like merchandise, saying you’ll just get rid of her?”
“She’s just a stumbling block on my path to eating now,” Shen Tiantian said with a light snort.
Who describes their daughter like that? Shan Yi shook her head helplessly, “Alright, alright, let’s go. After she’s born, we won’t let her eat.”
Shen Tiantian hurriedly said: “No, no, no, I mean both my daughter and I will eat together.”
“In that case, you two might eat us out of house and home,” Shan Yi chuckled.
Shen Tiantian laughed heartily: “We’ll eat until we’re broke.”
They went downstairs together, and Shan Yi picked up a cake box at the front desk, which seemed to be about eight inches in size.
Now, Shen Tiantian could hardly contain her excitement.
It was so big, she could eat until she was full.
Recently, there had been some changes in her diet. She used to rarely eat cake, finding it too rich, but today after having a piece, she actually wanted more. Seeing the large cake made her mouth water a bit…..
She attributed this change to the little thing in her belly.
As they stepped out of the doorway, Shan Yi glanced at her watch. It was already half past three. “Head home?”
“Can we walk a little longer?” Shen Tiantian pouted, reluctant to go back home after coming out for a rare occasion. “I want to watch a movie.”
Before Shan Yi could respond, they suddenly heard someone calling her name. Turning their heads, they saw a figure in white swiftly approaching them. Shen Tiantian instinctively protected herself.
“Adele~”
The sweet English voice sent shivers down Shen Tiantian’s spine, as she immediately knew who it was even before seeing the person.
In China, only one person called her wife by her English name—Celia.
It had been so long since she last appeared that Shen Tiantian had almost forgotten about her existence.
Celia glanced at Shen Tiantian indifferently. “Do you also like the cakes from this place? What a coincidence.”
Shan Yi pulled her hand away from hers. “My wife likes them.”
“Huh?” Celia looked surprised. “Wife? Are you two married?”
“Yes, so please don’t contact me again in the future. It would bother me,” Shan Yi’s tone was very cold.
Shan Yi had already explained Celia’s situation to her and had made it clear that she didn’t have any feelings for her, but Shen Tiantian still felt a looming sense of threat.
Shen Tiantian subconsciously tightened her grip on her wife’s hand and greeted Celia, “Hello, I’m Shen Tiantian.”
Celia reached out her hand. “I’m Celia, nice to meet you.”
As Shen Tiantian looked at her fair hand, she hesitated for a few seconds before offering a faint smile. “Nice to meet you too. What brings you here, Miss Celia?”
“Someone recommended that the cakes here are delicious, so I came to try them out. It’s quite a coincidence to run into you two,” Celia said.
“Yeah, they’re quite good,” Shen Tiantian smiled: “But we’ve finished eating, so please take your time, Celia.”
“Would you like to have more? My treat.” Celia’s personality was very generous, living up to her Western heritage. “I’ve been in China for so long and haven’t had a chance to catch up with Adele properly. Since we’ve bumped into each other today, why not have a meal together?”
Shen Tiantian naturally refused. How could she let her wife have a meal with such a beautiful rival? Even if she were present, it wouldn’t be acceptable.
But before she could speak, Shan Yi spoke first, “I don’t think that’s necessary.”
Celia’s smile didn’t falter. “Ah, that’s alright. How about I visit your company next time? That assistant lady seems quite cute.”
Shan Yi frowned.
Celia had been to her company before, and Shen Tiantian was aware of it. Assistant Yang had mentioned it to her, and judging from her expression, she seemed distressed about it more than once.
Ignoring Celia was the most feasible approach to deal with her. The more attention given, the more interested she became—this was the experience Shen Tiantian had accumulated over time.
Schools could be changed, but companies were different. It wasn’t as easy as simply switching. Despite wearing a sweet smile on her face and appearing to be joking, Shen Tiantian knew Celia wasn’t kidding—she was serious.
Moreover, continually avoiding wasn’t a solution either. She wasn’t the same person she used to be. Shan Yi smirked and retorted: “That’s okay. I think the police will be happy to have a chat with you then.”
Celia looked crestfallen. “Adele, are you still so heartless?”
“We’ll take our leave now. Don’t come back,” Shan Yi tightened her grip on her wife’s hand, moving away from her. As they left, she left her with one final remark, “Hurry back to England.”
Seeing her wife unmoved, Shen Tiantian breathed a sigh of relief silently.
“Wait a moment,” Celia approached again. “Could you give me an invitation for your wedding?”
“No,” Shan Yi refused without hesitation.
Shen Tiantian felt a moment of softness, almost about to agree, but luckily Shan Yi’s words snapped her out of it.
“Even if it’s just in the name of being classmates?” Celia persisted.
“That’s right.”
Shen Tiantian thought Celia should be angry by now, but she wasn’t. She was still smiling, unexpectedly nodding. “Okay then.”
Shan Yi didn’t linger any longer, pulling her wife towards the parking area.
Once in the car, Shan Yi turned on the air conditioning, acting as if nothing had happened. “What movie do you want to watch?”
Shen Tiantian lost interest because of Celia’s sudden appearance. “Let’s not watch anymore, let’s go home.”
Shan Yi put down her phone and looked at her. “Are you angry?”
“No, I’m not. I just suddenly don’t feel like watching anymore, and there’s no movie I particularly want to see anyway.”
“Are you really not angry?”
