Shen Tiantian looked helpless, stopped in her tracks, turned to face Shan Yi, and mimicked her actions, pinching both sides of her face with her hands, looking serious as she confirmed, “I’m really not angry.”
Hmm, indeed she didn’t seem angry at all, which reassured Shan Yi.
“Really not watching the movie anymore?”
“Yes, really not watching anymore.” Shen Tiantian nodded solemnly, then leaned in to kiss her wife’s cheek. “Let’s go home.”
Shan Yi smiled, opened the back door of the car, placed the cake inside, then went around to the other side, got into the car, slowly started it, and drove towards the direction of their home.
Mother Shan, seeing her daughter holding the cake, asked why she bought such a big cake. After asking, she suddenly remembered, and patted her own head. “Look at my memory, today is Xiao Yue’s birthday,,…”
Shen Tiantian leaned closer and asked, “So it’s your little aunt’s birthday?”
“Do you think I would buy such a big cake for you?” Shan Yi chuckled. “Eating too much can make you sick, and once you’re sick, you’ll vomit.”
Shen Tiantian:…..
Just a while ago, she didn’t feel annoyed when she saw her rival, but now she felt a bit inexplicably irritated.
She didn’t feel like talking to her, so she took her phone and went upstairs.
“Call little aunt and ask if she’s coming back tonight” Shan Yi persisted, following behind.
Shen Tiantian, as if in a huff, replied, “I’m not calling her. I want to look at photos.”
Shan Yi glanced at her wife askew, a mysterious color flashing across her face. “But I reckon she won’t be coming back tonight.”
At her words, Shen Tiantian’s attention was indeed diverted. She stopped in her tracks, turned her head, and asked why.
Shan Yi’s smile grew even more mysterious. It wasn’t until Shen Tiantian pushed her impatiently, urging her on, that she leisurely said: “She’s probably staying with Manager Tian tonight.”
“Ah?” Shen Tiantian exclaimed, surprised, then somewhat delighted. “They made up?”
Shan Yi shrugged indifferently. “I don’t know.”
“Argh, tell me quickly!”
Shan Yi chuckled and darted into the room. Shen Tiantian chased after her, pouncing on her and pushing her onto the bed, then straddling her. “Hurry, tell me.”
“Compared to this, I prefer it when you’re being cute and cuddly,” Shan Yi laughed.
Shen Tiantian’s expression turned serious, but the next moment, she buried her face in Shan Yi’s chest. “Tell me, okay?”
Shan Yi quickly surrendered. “I can only tell you that little aunt hasn’t come home for the past few days. Even if they haven’t made up, it should be about time.”
The information in the answer exceeded her expectations. Shen Tiantian thought that being a doctor might keep her busy, so she didn’t return home early, and she didn’t pay much attention. She hadn’t realized that Shan Yue hadn’t been home for several days.
Though they seemed to have a big fallout not long ago, suddenly they’ve made up? She’s very curious what methods her aunt used to bring her back home so quickly. But if they’ve reconciled, she’s happy for them.
“If little aunt isn’t coming back, what should we do about the cake?” Shen Tiantian asked, unconsciously licking her lips.
Shan Yi was amused by her greedy expression. “You want to eat it?”
“Yes.”
“You really don’t have to force yourself,” Shan Yi teased.
Shen Tiantian glared at her and ignored her. She logged into WeChat and messaged Liu Wanjun, asking if she wanted to join a prenatal yoga class.
Liu Wanjun replied: “Sure, I’m free at home anyway.”
Shen Tiantian: “Okay, let’s do it. When are you available?”
Liu Wanjun: “Anytime is fine. I’ll tell my husband to drop us off.”
Shen Tiantian: “I can ask my wife to drop us off too.”
Unable to join the conversation, Kang Jiaya sent a string of ellipses…
Kang Jiaya: “Should I leave the group since I’m not pregnant?”
Shen Tiantian: “Hahaha”
Liu Wanjun: “Hahaha”
Shen Tiantian: “Then you better hurry up too. Who would’ve thought someone was worried I wouldn’t get married before?”
Kang Jiaya: “…..Goodbye.”
Liu Wanjun: “Seriously, Yaya, when are you getting married?”
Kang Jiaya sent a voice message, “I’m not getting married anymore.”
At this news, the other two were surprised. Kang Jiaya wouldn’t joke about this unless something serious had happened. Why would she say something like that unless something had gone wrong?
“That scumbag, cheating on me behind my back. I found out,” Kang Jiaya sent another voice message, the sound of a car faintly audible in the background.
Shan Yi, who was nearby, heard it and turned to look at her wife. Seeing her grim expression, she knew something was wrong.
Shen Tiantian and Liu Wanjun both ranted in the group chat before asking Kang Jiaya if she had broken up with the scumbag.
Kang Jiaya: “Yes, we broke up. I’m coming back next week.”
Shen Tiantian: “That’s good then. No need to be sad over such a scumbag.”
Liu Wanjun: “Right, when you come back, we’ll go out for drinks together. We love you.”
Shen Tiantian: “Right.”
Kang Jiaya: “…..Both of you pregnant ladies, can you really accompany me to drink instead of just watching me drink?!”
Liu Wanjun: “My husband will drink on my behalf.”
Shen Tiantian stole a glance at her wife sitting next to her, then turned away and typed a message: “My wife will drink on my behalf.”
Kang Jiaya: “Both of you just get lost.”
And so, the atmosphere in the group returned to its relaxed state. After confirming the time again with Liu Wanjun, Shen Tiantian finally put down her phone.
“What are you doing?” Shen Tiantian hugged Shan Yi’s waist, her chin resting on her shoulder. She slowly turned her gaze towards the screen, her pupils gradually widening. “Why didn’t you call me?”
Shan Yi looked innocent. She did call her, right when she was in the middle of a good rant.
Shen Tiantian snatched the tablet away with a pout, lightly swiping her fingertips across the screen. Unconsciously biting her lip to suppress a laugh.
So good-looking!!!
For the first time, she realized that she could also look beautiful and standing next to Shan Yi wouldn’t make her seem out of place. In fact, she felt a bit narcissistic and it suited her well.
Shan Yi looked at her with a fond gaze, pressing her face against her wife’s. “The photographer said this is a masterpiece. They only retouched the excess dirt and background, but barely made any modifications to the portraits, so they appear more authentic.”
The studio emphasized quality, but there were only two or three technical staff members. They had at least two hundred photos to edit, but they managed to finish them in such a short time, which was quite impressive.
Shen Tiantian also noticed that with each photo she looked at, she could vividly recall the actions and expressions she had made during the shoot that didn’t quite meet the mark…..
“I’ll send them over.” Shen Tiantian picked up her phone, took a few shots of the screen, and sent them to the group chat.
Shen Tiantian: “My bridal photos.”
Liu Wanjun: “Our Tiantian looks stunning.”
Kang Jiaya: “Absolutely gorgeous!!!”
Shen Tiantian chuckled, feeling immensely satisfied. She snapped a few more shots and sent them over.
Kang Jiaya couldn’t help but tease her: “I meant your partner is good-looking.”
Liu Wanjun: “Tiantian looks great too.”
Kang Jiaya: “Yeah, especially if there isn’t a CEO next to her.”
Although she knew her friends were joking, Shen Tiantian pursed her lips and gave Shan Yi an unhappy look. The latter looked at her in confusion and asked, “What’s wrong now?”
Shen Tiantian sighed, “Because of you, my beauty is being questioned.”
Although she had never considered herself attractive, as a woman, why did Shan Yi always seem so captivating? Even her rivals looked particularly outstanding. She felt like crying.
Shan Yi looked puzzled. “Huh?”
Shen Tiantian snorted softly through her nose and continued looking at the photos.
There was a knock at the door, and both of them looked up simultaneously. Then they exchanged a glance before Shan Yi went to answer it.
“What are you two doing in the room? Come downstairs for dinner,” Mother Shan’s voice came through.
“Mom.” Upon hearing her mother-in-law’s voice, Shen Tiantian jumped off the bed, grabbed the tablet, and dashed over. “We’re looking at photos. Come and see.”
Mother Shan’s eyes lit up, and she hurried over to take a look.
Shen Tiantian had already reached the last set of photos, the ones they took wearing wedding dresses by the beach.
“They look so beautiful,” Mother Shan said, smiling as she looked at the photos. “Both of my daughters are so lovely.”
As she spoke, Mother Shan continued flipping through the photos, offering comments on each one. She got so engrossed that she forgot she had come to call them for dinner. Eventually, she had to ask Shan Xu to come up and fetch them.
So, Mother Shan stopped commenting and just couldn’t bring herself to put down the tablet. She restarted from the beginning and went through them all over again.
She clapped her hands, smiling contentedly: “Let’s eat, let’s eat.”
Shen Tiantian chuckled, then glanced over at Shan Yi, who suddenly had a dark expression on her face. She asked: “What’s wrong?”
Shan Yi stared at her feet intently.
Shen Tiantian’s expression turned evasive, and she nervously shrunk her neck, carefully turned around to go back to the room, obediently put on her slippers, and said, “Let’s go, let’s go downstairs to eat.”
Shan Yi couldn’t do anything with her, so she took her hand and led her downstairs.
As soon as they sat down, Father Shan asked how the wedding venue was coming along.
These matters were indeed delegated to Shen Tiantian in terms of significance, but in reality, Shan Yi was also following up on them. Most of the staff would ask her about things, so Shen Tiantian felt more relaxed; she only needed to choose colors and some designs.
She only said it was handed over to her, not entirely handed over, so these things didn’t count as deception, right? Shan Yi thought smugly.
Before Shen Tiantian could speak, Shan Yi spoke for her: “The venue has been set up. As for the date, Tiantian said you could decide.”
Father Shan clasped his hands together and rested his fists under his chin, emitting a long “Hmm,” as if pondering. After a while, he said: “How about August 2nd?”
“That works,” Shen Tiantian quickly replied.
It was late June now, so by August 2nd, she would be about four and a half months pregnant, with a belly that might be a bit bigger than Liu Wanjun’s at this time. The wedding dress might not be able to cover it up anymore, but since Father Shan chose that day, he must have had his reasons and thoughts.
Shan Yi was somewhat surprised at how quickly her wife agreed. She had expected her to at least consider it for a moment, but with no hesitation from Shen Tiantian, she felt there was no need to say anything.
“Then it’s settled for that day,” Father Shan said.
Shen Tiantian nodded and glanced over to where Shan Yue should have been, but the spot was empty.
She leaned in close to her wife’s ear and whispered, “Is little aunt really not planning to come back?”
Shan Yi chuckled. “Want to send her a message?”
Shen Tiantian pursed her lips. “Forget it, let’s not disturb her date with Manager Tian.”
Shan Yi smiled but said nothing.
“What are you two whispering about?” Mother Shan said. “Tiantian, come try this. It’s a soup I stewed this morning, simmered for a full three hours, so it should be rich in flavor.”
It was pigeon soup again.
Suddenly, she remembered Shan Yi telling her about rescuing a pigeon in Italy, and she couldn’t help but find the irony amusing.
Shan Yi saved one pigeon and ended up eating another, and quite a few of them at that.
Shen Tiantian thanked her with a smile.
Shan Yue suddenly returned, looking somewhat disoriented, and went straight upstairs as if she hadn’t seen them.
Shen Tiantian and Shan Yi exchanged a glance.
What’s going on?
Wasn’t little aunt supposed to be with Manager Tian today? Why did she come back?!
