The red wine bottle shattered all over the floor, and the fragrant scent filled the air, but it made Xu Zhun’s eyes redden.
He Chengyang looked at the messy floor, his expression was slightly stunned and he averted his eyes uneasily: “What’s wrong with you, Xu Zhun? You can’t even hold a bottle of wine steadily. I’ve already said I won’t drink it, but you’re still bringing it to me? How dare you bring me all such crap? I really shouldn’t have come to this meal, I am so full of anger!”
He Chengyang cursed, his tone was unkind and his words were unforgiving.
Xu Zhun didn’t say a single word as he knelt on the ground to gather up the shattered wine bottle.
He Chengyang stared at him for a moment, his thin lips moving, as he wanted to say something. But he had always been arrogant, and it was even more impossible to make him apologise.
He moved his foot over and nudged Xu Zhun’s own leg: “If it’s broken, it’s broken, it’s merely a bottle of wine. It’s not even that good of a wine, it’s not worth much money. I’ll bring a few bottles over to compensate you.”
Xu Zhun didn’t respond to him, as he kept on wiping the floor with a rag.
His silence made He Chengyang very upset and he dropped his chopsticks on the floor: “What are you doing? You’re giving me a hard time over a bottle of wine? Xu Zhun, you’ve become a man of character! The fact that I’m willing to come to this meal is because I think highly of you, so don’t be shameless.”
“I know!” Xu Zhun didn’t look up, not wanting He Chengyang to notice any of the sadness and pain in his eyes. His slender fingers clutched the rag in a death grip, as he tried to make his voice sound nonchalent: “It’s okay! It’s just a bottle of wine. It’s not anything particularly valuable. I made a big deal out of it! It’s my fault!”
It was my fault!
As a toad, I shouldn’t have tried to eat the flesh of a swan, I shouldn’t have been delusional.
Xu Zhun hooked the corners of his lips and revealed a bitter smile.
It was clear that Xu Zhun had apologised, but He Chengyang felt particularly unhappy in his heart.
The way Xu Zhun’s head was lowered and his body curled up, in particular, caused a slight sting in his heart.
This feeling was particularly foreign and frightening to He Chengyang.
No one could affect his mood, least of all Xu Zhun!
*
He Chengyang pulled Xu Zhun by the arm and dragged him into the bedroom.
Xu Zhun’s shoulders were held and he was roughly pushed onto the bed as He Chengyang climbed on top of him –
Xu Zhun’s chest was pressed against the bed, and He Chengyang’s hands kept his shoulders in place, preventing him from moving a single inch.
“He Chengyang, don’t …… Don’t do this!”
Xu Zhun’s face was pale, his lips were trembling, and his eyes were filled with fear. He didn’t know how he had angered He Chengyang again?
“Let go of me, please let go of me!”
He couldn’t take He Chengyang’s roughness, he would lose his life.
But He Chengyang turned a deaf ear, and his eager movements felt like they were going to tear him apart.
Xu Zhun was in pain, biting his lower lip to death as cold sweat rolled down his forehead.
The man behind him showed no mercy and was as brutal as a cold-blooded monster.
In the small bedroom, the man’s gasps and tiny sobs intertwined, and it took a long time before they subsided.
Xu Zhun slumped on the big bed, his body covered in bruises.
He couldn’t even lift a finger and the pain was almost killing him.
*
The sound of a man’s belt metal buckle rang in my ears, He Chengyang was already neatly dressed and was standing straight? My, didn’t he look like an aloof King peering down at a lowly pest?
Xu Zhun was in a state of disarray, and he struggled to pull the covers over his body, but he didn’t have the strength to complete even such a simple action.
After venting his anger, He Chengyang did not care about him anymore, he put on his coat and left while slamming the door.
The window in the bedroom was open and the cold wind was blowing into the room. Xu Zhun was shivering from the cold and lay there for a long time, and only when he had regained his strength did he struggle to crawl over and close the window.
