Chapter 13: Come over here now

The cotton sheets were covered in stains, and the ambiguous smell in the bedroom had been blown away by the cold wind, but it still couldn’t dissipate the pain in Xu Zhun’s heart.

He silently changed the sheets and moved to the bathroom to take a shower.

The warm water flowed out and fell on his cold body for a good while without warming him up.

Xu Zhun’s eyes were red and there was a liquid sliding down his cheeks, and he didn’t know whether it was water or tears.

After taking a shower, Xu Zhun laid down on his bed, curled his body up and fell asleep.

Perhaps as a result of the cold wind, he woke up in the morning feeling dizzy and even more uncomfortable.

There were still dishes on the dining table that hadn’t been cleaned up from last night, and the remains of the bottle of red wine were still on the floor.

Xu Zhun tidied up quickly and left the table spotless.

But even if it was clean, the events of last night could not be erased from his memory.

Not feeling well, Xu Zhun had no appetite and he went to the office without having breakfast.

When the manager saw him, he immediately called him into his office and asked impatiently, “Xu Zhun, how is the contract going? Is Mr. He going to sign with our company?”

Only then did Xu Zhun remember that he hadn’t had time to mention the contract to He Chengyang the previous night.

“Manager …… I …… I didn’t see Mr. He yesterday.”

“What’s wrong with you? Why haven’t you seen Mr. He? Didn’t you say you’d meet him last night?” The manager’s forehead was perspiring because of his anxiety, “Xu Zhun, you have to pay attention to the contract! Our department has to rely on the contract with Mr. He to fulfill our quota for this semester.”

Xu Zhun knew that the department had a heavy task, and the manager was carrying an even heavier burden. But after last night’s disagreement, he really didn’t want to see He Chengyang again.

“Manager, a company like He Group shouldn’t want to work with us. I think it’s better to forget it …… I’ll go and find other clients and I’m sure I can get a deal signed.”

The manager furrowed his eyebrows and he interrupted Xu Zhun sharply: “Xu Zhun, are you playing with me? Yesterday you swore that you could get He Group to sign a contract with us, and I reported this to the general manager, who ordered the contract to be brought back within a week. Today you’re telling me to forget it!”

Bang!

The manager raised his fist and slammed it on the table, his eyes glowing with anger, “You have three days to sign He Group’s contract, or you’re getting the hell out of my sight!”

Xu Zhun was scolded and walked out of the office with his head hanging low.

A colleague pointed out to him, “See? He’s been scolded again!”

“He had the worst sales last month, if the manager hadn’t protected him, he would have been let go!”

“The manager is so good to him!”

“Last month, he and Wang Bin tied for last place and Wang Bin was sacked. If the manager hadn’t given him half the share of his own performance, he would have been the one to go.”

“Really? This Xu Zhun is too skillful! To get the manager to favour him so much!”

“Heh! Who knows! Maybe he has that special ability!”

“You mean by using his ass?”

“Keep your voice down, if the manager hears you, he’ll fire you!”

“So he dares do it yet people aren’t allowed to talk about it?”

The murmur was deliberately not suppressed, and Xu Zhun heard it very clearly. His face was burning hot and he returned to his work station with his head bowed and sat down.

Xu Zhun really had no idea that the manager had done him such a great favour, and his heart was filled with guilt and emotion.

He gritted his teeth and sent a message to He Chengyang, whether for the sake of money or to return the manager’s favour, he had to sign the contract with He Group.

【Mr. He, I would like to talk to you about the contract. Do you have time this afternoon?】

He Chengyang looked at the message on his phone, and the way Xu Zhun had whimpered underneath him last night suddenly popped into his head.

【Come over now.】

He actually couldn’t wait to see Xu Zhun!
