Damien scrunched up his brows. He had a feeling that there was something weird happening in this forest.
"Maui," he called the stead. "Are you sure we are headed in the right direction? Because I swear, we already went past this tree three times."
"Elendil."
"What?" Damien turned to look at Thalia, who was flying next to them with her wings outstretched.
"Elendil," she repeated as if it cleared everything up. "It's a monster; I completely forgot about it." She added with a sheepish expression.
"Yeah, you did," Damien nodded before saying, "But what about it? What can this monster do and how is it related to us not being able to reach the Tower of Helion?"
"It's because of the toxic mushrooms that grow at the back of its shell," Thalia replied to Damien. "These mushrooms release fumes that can create an illusion, one so powerful that it can trap a person. However," she frowned and spoke in a subtle voice, "I heard that there are no Elendil on this island. So how is this even possible?"
Damien's brows furrowed as he looked at the scene in front of him; if Thalia hadn't told him, then he would have never believed that this vivid image in front of him was just an illusion.
"What should we do now?" Damien asked. He knew that something was very wrong; if Elendil could not be found on this island, there was only one possibility. Someone brought it here, and this someone was the reason why he was trapped in this place.
"The illusion created by Elendil is not that easy to break," Thalia said with a frown. "But if it's you..." She bit her lip as if realising something and stopped speaking.
"What do you mean by if it's me?" Damien blinked.
"It's nothing. Elendil is not a high-ranking monster," Thalia told him. "As long as a high-ranking beastmen uses his mana, the chances of this mist dissipating are really high."
Damien understood why Thalia stopped speaking just now.
'Mana,' Damien pursed his lips. He didn't know how much mana he had within his beastcore, but he was sure that it was nowhere close to clearing up this entire forest.
"Host, you don't need to clear the entire area," Dan reminded Damien. "You have the eye of observation; if you use it, you can definitely see through this mist."
"That's right!" Damien exclaimed so suddenly that Maui flinched and let go of him in surprise. Fortunately,, he caught him before he could plummet to an early death.
GULP.
With a big gulp, it swallowed it all.
"Lord Damien,"
"STOP! Don't go any further!" Damien bellowed at Maui when he felt him move a bit further. He had been roasted once! He had no desire to be roasted once again.
The feeling was not that pleasant that he would want a redo.
"What-what's the matter?" Maui heard the panic in the voice of Damien and felt anxious as well.
"It's a death trap," Damien relayed what he just saw, and once he finished speaking, both Maui and Thalia looked sick and nervous.
Maui's wings were fluttering behind him nervously as he said to Damien, "Thank goodness you saw through the mist, Lord Damien, or else we would have turned roasted meals for these monsters. And just in case anyone wants to hear it, roasted stead meat doesn't taste all that good."
"Go far back," Damien told Maui. "Turn left.. And go straight and don't turn until, I tell you."
"Yes, Lord Damien," said Maui before turning left.
On the other hand, Clyde looked at Damien and curled his lips in a sneer.
"What a weird man," he muttered. He was chasing after Levi but stopped when he sensed someone enter the barricade that he had created at the entrance of the forest.
He didn't wish anyone to cause trouble for him and his team; that's why he came to see who this trespasser was.
Clyde expected that using the monstrous fumes was enough to make Damien give up and leave.
"I heard that he was a waste," Clyde mused with an evil and curious look in his eyes. "But he can see through the mist. I am really curious—How can he do this?"
A cruel smirk etched on his lips as he turned into his beast form and chased after Damien.
