Chapter 140 - How can I be mad at you?

Andy soon returned with two bug detectors. Both started checking her office every corner. When Sky turned towards the coffee table, A colorful thing caught her attention. It was a multicolor wildflowers banquet.

After caressing the flowers, she called a number, Sky spoke as soon as it was picked, "So this is your new year gift."

"Hahaha Brother Jai, How can I be mad at you?" Sky laughed.

"Room looks a lot brighter and fresh too."

"Thank you! Bye" Sky hung up the call and strode towards her desk.

When she started working she randomly selected the black and white interior according to her mood. She liked it hence she never bothered to change.

Seeing more white and greenery she felt peaceful. She had echeveria when she was in Barton's place, she used to propagate that succulent and gift to the one who liked or kept in her room balcony window.

"Ms.Sky, There are no bugs installed inside." Andy's voice sounded.

Sky almost forgot he was in the office. "Oh, Thank you, Andy. Meeting at the usual time. You can leave."

The quarterly board meeting was arranged and everybody was happy with the growth of Harley and it's elevating reputation and the market hold in the capital and the country.

This time, everybody wanted Harley to venture in other business sectors. Sky flatly refused them giving Harley was currently not capable of managing one more.

Few supported her and few considered her as an inefficient and an inert person.

"Isn't she is a woman? This is her limit." One of the shareholders told to a person beside him but it was loud enough to reach Sky.

"We don't have to agree with one another. But it is important that we learn to respect each other. In this position, I can't sit and dream like you about success. I have to think about all the aspects, the company, our employees and YOUR PROFITS . Just because of something new, I can't risk the present state." Sky finished saying and turned towards the one who commented about gender.

Her voice wasn't aggressive but it had no warmth either. Her cold tone was enough to make that man shudder on his chair. "Mr.Liu, I know gender equality is the unfinished business of the 21st century. But don't forget the President and the CEO of this company is a woman, Your mother, your wife, and your daughter is also a woman. If you dare to denigrate women, I can dismiss you from the board of directors. And you can try me if you have a doubt."

Mr.Liu was embarrassed in front of everyone. He didn't dare to speak anything and kept his mouth shut. What Sky said also served as a warning to everybody in the meeting.

Man has many responsibilities to tend. But that doesn't mean it is easy to be a woman. A housewife has to take care of everything at home and everybody in the home. She prioritizes everyone but what she gets in return is negligence towards her from the same people.

A working woman, as a saying goes, 'she must think like a man, act like a lady, look like a young woman and work like a horse'. But still, she has to face discrimination, criticism.

Some are lucky to have a good environment, some strived hard and raised high. Yes, Some are spoiled by their family ruins the reputation of a good woman.
