Chapter 279 - Kicked up fuss

"Don't even dare to abscond." Arlo warned him and started stabbing the chicken steak on his plate.

"You know me for fifteen years. You started working with me from six years back. But you didn't even recognize me when I came to you." Arlo said a word for a word.

Ryan was perplexed but sympathized the chicken steak licking his lips.

Arlo continued to speak, "Then how did she recognize me?"

Ryan whose concentration was on steak, couldn't understand who Arlo was talking about, "She?"

Arlo ignored his question, "Since we don't have office tomorrow, should we go to Harley mansion?"

Ryan's mouth twitched, "We are leaving tonight to country X for finalizing a business deal. Your presen..."

Arlo cut in and said with a smile on his face which freaked Ryan, "I know you are capable of handling it alone."

"But they are a very important client, you can't lea..." Ryan was cut in again.

"I can't?" Arlo raised his brow. "Are you sure I can't?"

"You are the boss." Ryan mentally yanked his hair in frustration and finished his dinner.

"Go back to the party and look after her." Arlo said and was ready to leave the restaurant.

Ryan glared at Arlo when he wasn't looking. 'Seriously? Aren't we already spending a fortune for her safety? Why me?'

He thought to himself and nodded at Arlo when the latter looked at him for a response.

The legacy banquet hall

After the buffet, there was music and drinks being served. David had to stay at the party hence Sky stayed. Daniel left after the buffet, Sam had to stay due to Sky.

Since David had very high alcohol tolerance, Sky didn't worry much but still warned him to control due to his age. Sam just took wine as he had to accompany Sky. She had a mocktail.

Sky noticed many people surrounding a man, she couldn't see the man as he was covered quickly. Hence she asked Sam, "Who is there?"

"Must be Ryan Wilson from Sigma industries." Sam saw the guards in Sigma's gear. "Do you want to meet him?" Sam asked after taking a sip.

"Why?" Sky looked at him nonchalantly not understanding why he asked that.

Sam shook his head resignedly. "Your brain always works differently."

Sky rolled her eyes, "One, I'm not interested to meet anyone here. Two, that nutcase tried to trick me with a fake project proposal."

Sam almost choked on his wine. A mischief glint flashed across his eyes, "Ms.Sky, You are just scared to meet high profile person. isn't it?"

"Scared? and me? Are you looking down on me?" Sky asked back.

Sam pursed his lips as he nodded, "You were an adventurous and wild cat. But. Now, tsk. tsk"

Sky heard him and furrowed her brows.

Sam smiled internally and continued, "Ms.Sky Barton, Do you dare to talk to him?"

Ms.Barton was the crazy girl who always kicked-up fuss with her brothers and friends. After getting the dare she naturally accepted and went towards Ryan.

Sam followed her with a smile.

Ryan who was talking with others was watching Sky every now and then as instructed by Arlo. When he saw Sky walking towards them, he forgot to reply to the people around him and stared at Sky.

He knew Sky hardly met others and only spoke to people she knows and who approaches her. Seeing her going towards him, he wasn't sure about the reason.
