Chapter 325 - Doubted her abilities

Sky stood up and went with him, "Mr.Jeff! Next time, you better tell me instead of I get to know about it from the newspaper. Get that?"

"Sure! Sky. Harley." Ethan agreed right away. They reached the buffet area and plated a few dishes.

"By the way!" Sky deliberately paused and spoke, "Mr.Handsome, You were cool and bossy in the press conference." She finally said what he always wanted to hear from her.

Then she sat on the chair next to David. Ethan sat between James and Sky. "Dad! Finally, she agreed I'm handsome and cool. She even said domineering, Hahaha."

James and David laughed looking at him, Sky shook her head resignedly, "Stop behaving like a kid."

"Sky! He waited for three days for your call to hear your praise. He will boast to his mother in the home tonight." James heard his son always complain about Sky being too strict to him.

Sky smacked on Ethan's head, "Uncle Jeff, He is talented and creative..."

Ethan's smile grew wide before Sky could finish her sentence, "...but he uses it on girls and party."

Ethan was at a loss for words for some time. "Can't you let me enjoy a little time?"

Sky shot him daggers, "I know what you did in your villa after the press conference."

James and David didn't know about it. Ethan scratched his head as he signaled her to be quiet and not to tell anything to the other two.

Sky rolled her eyes and continued eating. When she called to James three days back, he had told her that Ethan went to his villa to rest for a day. Hence she had asked Harley guards to take a bouquet to him for congratulating.

But she received the news that there were many people partying near the pool, on the terrace and inside the villa and the sound of the music was soo loud that neighboring estate people wanted to complain to cops. After her instructions, her people persuaded neighbors and sent them.

Since she was busy, she thought to talk to him after the anniversary. Ethan was a perfect example of the statement, old habits die hard .

After dinner, Sky was talking with Andy and Arlo about the guest list and other requirements for the anniversary when Ethan interrupted her. "Sky! Why have you left people behind me to get my information?"

Sky saw his annoyed expression and faintly smiled as she excused herself from Andy and Arlo. The latter furrowed his brows looking at Ethan's behavior.

Ethan followed her and stopped. "What is the meaning of this?"

"Ethan! leave my hand." Sky kept her voice low as she glared at him. She continued when he left her arm.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have sent my people to congratulate you.

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked them to solve the nuisance which you created with your gang.

I'm sorry, that the newspaper headlines about you visiting the police station changed to successfully acquiring the three hotels."

Sky left the party hall after finish saying and leaving Ethan alone. She didn't scold him nor got angry as she knew he was like that for a long time. But he also should know what he had done to correct himself.

Sam stopped her when she was about to hop on her Aston Martin. "Why are you leaving so early? Let me drive."

"Nope, I want to drive." Sky replied and sat inside. Sam took a shotgun seat quickly sensing her foul mood. When she was about to leave, David knocked on the window.

Sky alighted and faced David, Sam got down and stood on the other side of the car. "Lass! Why are you leaving so early? You are the host."

Sky sniggered, "You are funny Dad. You should be the one to enjoy your success. I don't want to leech you off."

"Sky! What are you talking about?" David's tone changed slightly. Sam sensed it and left them for privacy.

"Dad! you don't have to play dumb. I doubted when they announced we won the bid. Our team met the government officials only once. They won't agree just because the team is good. Didn't you talk to them and made them agree? So you should be the one to host."

Sky turned back to the car but paused before entering in, "How many times have you done this? How many times have I taken credit for what you have done? Was I just a puppet that being played around all the time?... I have already arranged everything for the anniversary. You don't have to play behind the scene anymore."

Sky got in and left without giving David time to react. Sam didn't hear them but after seeing her leave, he hopped on the car which Clark was in to follow her.

The outer ring road wasn't far from the hotel. After taking that road, Sky increased the speed as she thought about the past events.

She knew it wasn't easy to get the land from the government. She was completely prepared even if she had to show her face to them. When they received the notification from the administration that Harley secured the land and rights for developing the area, she wasn't happy at all.

Then she spoke to James regarding how it works as he had experience related to it. Then it was clear to her that only three options could be done to secure it without her involvement was a detailed plan or bribing or somebody helping her. Chances of them agreeing with the only a basic idea was low as 10% as the complete plan wasn't ready yet.

Since the team she sent was under Andy, she was sure he couldn't bribe them. So the only option left was helping her.

Why will anybody help her and Harley for no reason, except David?

David knew Sky was very interested in that land. She also told him that she was ready to accept the results even if it was against them. Thinking he must have helped in everything, she started to doubt her own abilities and it actually hurt her to know she was being praised for David's hard work.

Shouldn't he get praised for his work?

She always accepted if she was in the wrong or if she didn't know anything, she always said it. Now she felt like she was pretending to be one working where David was the one doing everything.
