Chapter 698 - Did you forget you are President Smith?

Arlo reacted first, he cupped Sky's face seeing her bloodshot eyes where tears were threatening to fall any movement. "I'm alright... I'm fine... Relax. Sky! I'm fine."

Everything happened in less than ten seconds and they were still trying to analyze what just happened by seeing Arlo and Sky without understanding how that fell on the ground because it couldn't be moved by a man or two.

Sky flung his hands away and instructed as she ran towards stairs since there was no elevator. "Ryan, Close all the exits now. Arlo, call Loran and say that we are safe. Quick."

Ryan quickly followed the orders. Arlo ran behind her as he dialed Loran. Their bodyguards followed them closely but Sky's speed was much faster to catch on. Other men from Construere and Sigma blankly followed not knowing why Sky went upstairs.

Even though Harry behaved like he didn't care about her presence when she came, he was right behind the bodyguards who were behind Arlo who was holding Sky's high heels in hand.

A self-mocking smile appeared on his face. He had thought Arlo's behavior won't be better with Sky but he was surprised and shocked to see him holding her shoes instead of asking his bodyguards which told him how important was Sky without caring about his identity...

Arlo just informed, "Loran, we are fine! I will call you back in a few minutes." He didn't know why Sky told him to say that to Loran.

On a rough surface, it made Sky difficult on heels hence she had removed it and ran barefooted ignoring the pricking pain.

She had seen a man who cut the crane cords using the hydraulic cutter which was holding the iron bar. Since the cords were strong, it took him time to cut. He had successfully cut on the one side and was cutting the center one, the iron bar was shaking a lot. 

Loran had seen the bar and a man near it who was wearing a yellow construction jacket and cap. It was Sky who saw where it could fall and reacted quickly. She didn't want to think of the 'if' possibility.

When she reached the fourth floor, she saw jacket laying on the ground but there was nobody, She pulled a construction bar as she searched. She saw a man acting like he was writing something on the notepad which was in his hands.

She had seen the white shirt and seeing him tremble, she turned him towards her before striking on his right arm.

"Ahhhh...." The pain made him groan and pen slipped from his hand.

She beat him quite a few times shrugging Arlo's hands away ignoring that man's cries. When she stopped, she was breathing heaving pressing the bar on his palm. Her voice was cold and hoarse, "Why did you try to kill my husband and Ryan?"

"I... I... I didn't..." He was denying, Sky struck on his ribs which made him cry in pain.

"Sky!" Arlo helplessly called her as his team would take care of those things.

Sky growled at Arlo, "Shut Up. Haven't you said nobody targets you now? What happened today? Step in any construction site again, I will break your leg first."

While others were speechless, Arlo sighed resignedly. Ryan reached them and saw man groaning in pain and others in shock due to various reasons. 

"Speak!" Sky roared and struck on the hand again.

Ryan spoke near Arlo's ear, "He will lose his right-hand today. Your wife is scary."

Arlo glared at Ryan which made him change his statement instantly, "Your wife is my savior."

Sky was done with waiting and raised her bar high as she said, "Since you aren't speaking! I don't need your life either."

Ryan ran towards her seeing her pointing his head. The bodyguards reached too but Arlo knew Sky wasn't going to hit his head. As he expected, bar passed above his head and the man confessed, "VP... VP... VP..."

Sky threw the bar away and asked the guards to make him sit, she faced him, "Didn't you think what will happen if you get caught? Who is powerful? That stupid VP or Arlo?"

That man started to cry when she finished, "He... He kidnapped my son and threatened me to do it. My son..."

Sky looked at Ryan who understood immediately, "He will be safe." and ran aside to make calls.

"Are you an idiot? Couldn't you tell that to Arlo or Ryan and save your son? He could have..."

A guard slapped a man who went aside to make a call. All got to know who he tried to call without saying.

"... handed you to police escaping easily and what is the guarantee that he would let your son go after it?"

A few guards helped him to go to the hospital.

Sky glared at Arlo who took steps ahead embraced her rubbing her back when she started crying. His bodyguards sent everyone downstairs leaving the couple alone.

Arlo didn't let her cry for long knowing she was standing barefooted. "Honey! Break my leg instead of crying." He wiped her face gently and cleaned her nose.

She kicked his leg and cried, "Carry me now. My feet are paining."

Arlo carried her in arms holding her heels. Sky kept glaring at him before she started to complain like a little girl, "Didn't his daughter like you? Why is he trying to kill you? How can you stand oblivious to it? How can you let him stay near you? He... He must have tried quite a few times before getting the chance. What would I have done if Loran didn't see on the video call and if I was late reaching you? You... you all men are so mean. Why do you have to be the Arlo smith? Why aren't you a normal common man? It's so tiring to be on guard all the time..."

Feeling helpless, Arlo made her sit and wiped her face, "I'm sorry! I will be more careful next time."

Sky punched him and started crying, "So there is next time too. I don't want you... Go, I don't want."

Arlo rubbed her back hugging her, "There will be no next time... I mean to say, I will be more careful from now on. Alright? Now stop crying."

Sky punched him quite a few times before wrapping her hands around the waist. 

Ryan handed first aid kit to Arlo who kneeled to clean her feet and carefully disinfected himself.

Meanwhile, Sky spoke to Loran and complained about Arlo which Ryan heard controlling himself for long until he burst into laughter holding his stomach and pinching her cheeks, "You are so cute."

Sky pouted and sat quietly until she realized the dumbstruck employees around them. She coughed lightly, "Guys! Your images ruined. Pretty Ryan! Stop laughing. Arlo... I had pricks only, why did you wrap like I had cut my feet. By the way, did you forget you are President Smith? How can you kneel on the ground holding a girl's leg?"

Arlo rolled his eyes. Ryan poked her arm, "Everyone here knows YOU are the wife of President Smith."

"Oh!" She didn't care to address as President Smith and Assistant Wilson in that movement.

"What about VP? Are you guys at least capable of handling that? or should I take charge?"
