Second day of morning market stall, Harry and I departed after breakfast.
It’s another beautiful day.
“Ginjiro-san, Harry-san, over here!”
Milia-san in a suit and a receptionist girl in a guild uniform are waving at us today.
“Did I keep you waiting?”
I felt a little embarrassed because I planned to come early, but Milia replied that she had just arrived here too.
I looked at my side and saw that Harry was kind of happy.
The four of us walked to the cathedral square toward the location of yesterday’s stall, where the old lady and Edel were already prepared and waiting for us.
“Let’s do our best today!”
Take out the stalls, long tables, and trash cans with vigor.
First, I prepare ice water in the cooler box I bought from an online store after I returned yesterday.
Of course, I also prepare ice water for the old lady and Edel.
I asked Milia to help out at the old lady’s stall and the receptionist girl to help out at Edel’s stall.
I gave them both aprons, and surely a suit and apron would be irresistible to the maniacs.
Harry looks so happy~
“Grandma this is the cup and for the dip please mix this and this. I’ll have Milia from the commercial guild help you, so make lots of money.”
When I handed over some stuff for her, she said something weird like how popular am I that I brought another cute girl today, so I ignored her.
I explain to Milia how to make vegetable sticks and miso & mayonnaise dip.
What is it? Harry looks a little angry.
I look at Edel and see pineapples and mangoes on the table, unlike yesterday.
“Edel, that wasn’t there yesterday, did something happen today?”
I pointed to the pineapple and asked him about it, he said that he was praised for selling so well at the food stall yesterday.
He bought a pineapple for his mother and they ate it together yesterday and it was delicious.
Although it is a luxury item, he thought it would sell well if it were sold chilled, so he asked the store owner.
The store owner’s wife had bought a lot of pineapples at the morning auction, So he was very motivated to do his best to sell them.
Ginjiro felt that Edel had a good sense of taste, since pineapples on skewers sell very well at places like Ameyoko.
“For now, can you sell me one pineapple and one mango?”
Edel says that the purchase price is fine, so I ask the price and give Edel two silver coins.
The pineapple and mango are placed in ice water to cool.
As soon as they are cooled, I cut the pineapple into eight sticks.
Take a skewer out of the item box, stick it in, and it’ s done.
“Try it. I think it’s delicious.”
When I handed out the pineapples, Ameyoko style, to everyone, they all voiced how sweet and juicy and luxurious they were.
The receptionist’s girl still seemed to want some, so I told her it was okay and she looked happy.
“Ginjiro-san, how much would you like to price one of these?”
Asked with straight eyes, Ginjiro thinks.
I think I should sell out at a low price.
One pineapple can make eight and the cost of one pineapple is one silver coin.
I tell them that it would be good for about two copper coins.
“Five coppers.”
The receptionist girl spoke up.
If eight sticks are sold for five copper coins, the sales will be 40 copper coins.
Four times the cost is attractive, but it seems a bit expensive for Ginjiro.
It would be easy to say that it was impossible, but he decided to ask her why.
“There are three reasons. One is the luxury of having pineapple on ice. Five coppers is a small price to pay for it.”
Well, I don’t know about that, but five coppers?
“Second, there are a lot of tourists with money and a lot of people associated with the cathedral. If it’s good food, they are willing to spend some money.”
I’m surprised she was watching the customer, but I wonder if it would work out that well.
As Ginjiro silently ponders, she tells the third reason.
“Pineapple, a luxury item, should priced at 5 copper coins. We shouldn’t sell cheaply for this flavor. A bunch of grapes priced at 2 coppers. It is normal for grapes pried at 1 copper coin but I heard that they sold out yesterday, so the grapes, which are priced at 2 copper coins or higher, must have sold well today. 2 cut apples and pears for 1 copper coin. One copper for a cherry.”
This is the first time I’ve heard her talk like this.
I’m not sure if she’s right, though, but since she is a staff of a commercial guild, I’ m sure she’s thinking about it.
I don’t want to disrupt the teamwork here by expressing a negative opinion, and if the worst happens and it doesn’t sell, I’ll just buy the whole thing.
Milia doesn’t say anything, so I tell her that if Edel is good with it, let’s try it at that price.
If any customers have any doubts, the pineapple I just bought can be cut into very small pieces and used for tasting.
I cut the mangoes into quarters because they are unevenly shaped when cut into eighths.
I wondered if it would sell, but let’s give it a try first.
Now we are open for business.
