The night had gone and morning had come. Like Gorrum had said, he was waiting for Keng and the two left for Dat'e. The people had recognized Gorrum and said their greetings. They recognized Keng and hesitantly greeted him.
Keng sat in the library as Gorrum stood in front of him, arms crossed. He had put a stack of books off to the side for Keng to read. They were history books on Daros, the god weapons, etc. "A large stack crash course of Daros," Gorrum cheekily called it.
"Alright, let's start with the creation of Daros." Gorrum spoke. "We'll start there so you can understand the importance of the god weapons when I talk about them later. Are you ready?"
"Yup." Keng nodded. He was excited to learn the history of Daros, his home Realm. He wished Lee Seng was here to learn about it, but this would probably be something he could tell Lee Seng about later.
"Many millennia ago, the God King traveled between the space and time of the Realms. A place where different universes existed. All connected by the thread of the Realmweaver, a cosmic being we know very little about. It's said the Realmweaver weaved many Realms together. The God King created Daros and he decided to make his children represent many things in Daros.
"He needed someone to grow the land of Daros, so he created Dahlia, the goddess of Nature and Earth. She was molded from the earth, itself. She brought everything you see into existence. To bring more life she created Hydran, the goddess of Water and the Moon. With Hydran and Dahlia, Dathro could ensure life. He created Ves'ti, the Wind god as well as Asura, the god of Fire, War, and Forge. These four gods would be known as the elemental gods.
"They would help the God King with creation. When they had created it all, they noticed it was still to dark. Asura's being couldn't inhabit the sky for he didn't have the light that could breath life. He could only breath flame and destruction as the fire war god. Out of Daros' left and right hands came the twin gods, Rox'su and Vox'su. It is said they were born from his hands because they represented the freedom and connection of Dathro. Their light was too bright that they were forced into isolation in the sky.
"Lady Hydran, felt bad for her younger brothers, so she took up to fill the Sky at night as the large Moon, Hyul'e. She went up there to keep her brothers company and taught them how to wield their light. They would eventually become known as the Three Sky Paths. The twins are guides to the different paths of Destiny. Rox'su known for his mischievous involvement while Vox'su quietly carries his duties peacefully.
"God King Dathro, the four elemental gods, and the twin gods created a harmonious Realm for us to live in. They all created their different peoples, all in different places. Hydran created the Merfolk, Dahlia created Sprites, Centaurs, Elves of many kinds. You could say Dahlia liked the idea of those connected to the earth. Lord Asura created the hardy folks who live in the deserts — the Desert Elves. They were a variation of Lady Dahlia's Elves. Lord Asura loved the Elves and converted some of them into his ideal creation." Gorrum explained.
The history of Creation was very interesting. Gorrum could tell Keng was interested because his eyes glowed brightly. He wondered if the kid even knew he was emitting such a strong light.
"You literally glow when you're learning, don't you?" Gorrum asked. The light in Keng's eyes started to fade. He didn't realize he was glowing and found the comment strange.
"Literally? I like learning. I guess it's cause Lee Seng is always learning." Keng answered. Gorrum nodded and clapped his hands together.
"That's the creation story. Anything to ask?"
"Aren't there more gods? Didn't the gods have children of their own or something?" Keng asked.
"There weren't anymore gods that were created from Dathro or the gods themselves. You might be thinking about the demigods that Asura and Ves'ti created with the mortals of this land. It's said Ves'ti has a lover that's a Fox Spirit but there's much not known about that. The gods tend to keep things quiet when it comes to these things."
"Ah, so it could happen then." Keng nodded. "Alright. It sounds straight forward. I wonder where God King Dathro came from then. Did he come from the Realmweaver?"
"We're not sure. He says he's been here longer than Daros has been around. He doesn't talk much about it and we don't ask much about it. The God King will tell us if he wants to." Gorrum shrugged.
"Okay." Keng nodded. "That's interesting. So how were the god weapons made then?"
? "Straight to the point, huh?" Gorrum chuckled. He moved over and grabbed a chair. He sat down and pulled one of the large books out from underneath. The books slammed as he looked at the book's title.
'The God Weapons of Asura,' it read. He turned the book around and showed it to Keng.
"Asura made the god weapons?" Keng asked.
"He made most of them. The other gods requested Lord Asura to create one that embodied their identities." Gorrum flipped through the book until he landed on a picture of a blue trident. He turned it around and showed it to Keng. "Like this one. This is Hydrosphere, a weapon crafted for Lady Hydran. It gives control over water creation and water manipulation. It also gives water breathing." He turned the book around and slid his finger down the page. He tapped on it and nodded.
"Very rarely it changes form. It's said that if the form changes, Hydrosphere's users shall be very lucky." Gorrum chuckled and closed the book. "Hydrosphere wielders are rare in Daros, Keng. Know that you are making history as the first Fox Spirit who has a shared soul with your Vessel while your Vessel has also taken the Fox Spirit's blessing as well.
"Because of this, you've drawn attention, alright? You're also a Chosen one of Vox'su, the Silver Sun. You're a Savior and now you wield Hydrosphere, Lady Hydran's most prized possession. There's going to be a lot of talk about you. People will think you're cheating and might get greedy. They'll come for you if their jealousy outweighs their common sense."
"There's still bad on this world just like Earth?" Keng asked.
"Whenever there's any good in a place, there must be some sort of evil to fight against it. Though all of the gods may inherently be good, it doesn't mean some of them haven't done things that could be considered 'bad.' The perception of good and evil is a hard thing to overcome, but it exists here just like it exists on Earth." Gorrum commented.
"Alright, so what are the god weapons? Why do I have one?" Keng asked.
"The god weapons are more complicated than Daros, itself. Y'see, there was a time when Daros was at war. The gods were split because of their people. They love their people just as much as they love each other. Lord Asura originally created god weapons to turn the tide of battle of his people. The others created their imperfect versions and managed to save their people from destruction.
"God King Dathro intervened with the Fox Spirits and stopped the war. If you've ever wondered why the world is so scarce, it's because Daros still recovers from the war."
"How long ago was the war?"
"Almost a six hundred years ago. It was dark time. I'm glad we're back to some sort of peace."
"So the god weapons were originally created by other gods to combat Asura's creations?"
"Yes and no. The gods created imperfect weapons to combat Asura. It was enough to stop him but after the war, the gods decided they should create something that would remind the people and the gods of their selfish actions. The god weapons are a reminder of that. Powerful weapons bestowed to the gods from Lord Asura, but handed down to their people to wield."
"Lord Asura gave it to the gods but the gods gave it to the people? Why?" Keng asked.
"Only those who bring favor to the gods will be able to wield it. Lady Hydran spends much of her time elsewhere and rarely gives Hydrosphere out to anyone. Somehow you've caught her attention and I'm curious to know why." Gorrum answered. "But let's stretch our legs. Let's go somewhere far so we can practice. Maybe one of the fields nearby."
"Oh!" Keng raised a finger up. "Could we go check on the Savior temple? I haven't been there for awhile and we can stay there until I have to go with Elder Jyu'so. It'll be a great way to practice wielding the god weapons."
"We could spare a couple weeks there. I'll let Elder Jyu'so know. For now, let's take a walk."
