Chapter 607 Job Talk & Edited Footage

Name:Biohuman Author:
The group gathered around the table with piping hot food on the table. Everyone dug into the food, grabbing bits and pieces of everything as Keng waited. Calis stepped into the room wearing a t-shirt and some sweats. Strands of blonde hair fell in his face as he casually brushed it to the side.

"Come, come!" Liz waved Calis over. She patted to the open seat next to her and watched as Calis sat down in between her and Manny.

"Y'know…" Ritsuka whispered to Keng. Keng glanced at Ritsuka as he looked at Calis. "I think they're both drooling over him."

"I know Manny is, but Liz? She doesn't seem that interested in him. She's nice to him." Keng commented.

"Well, that's where my expertise comes in handy." Ritsuka cracked a smile at him. He quietly motioned at Liz's face. "Just watch her face. How subtly more expressive she is when he talks to her."

"Yeah… Nothing to bad. Just watched him. The lecture in Magi-Sci was interesting. The compounds of Earth and the Biohuman serum merging is a fascinating topic I wish I could learn more about." Calis casually talked as he plated himself with loads of food.

"Oh yeah? The Biohuman Serum has done so much wonderful things but we live in Capitol City so I'll never get to see that sort of thing unless I leave the city." Liz seemed drawn into Calis as he set his plate down in front of him. He looked down at it before nodding at what Liz was saying and taking a look at her. She smiled her pearly white teeth at him as she leaned forward a bit.

"See? She's captured by him. He's talking about freaken' Magi-Sci and she's just into it." Ritsuka eyed Keng.

"You're just jealous whenever you talk about Magi-Sci, they all tune out." Keng smirked. Ritsuka frowned as he pushed Keng away from him. The two of them jabbed at each other before eating.

After finishing dinner, Keng leaned back in the chair and watched the group chat amongst themselves. Their interactions were genuinely interesting to Keng. Manny and Ritsuka, despite their 'differences,' they were still very much similar. They both set the mood and were goofy. Liz and Evan were on the more chiller side of things. Whenever they did talk, the group paid attention to them.

Olivia, on the other hand, was very attentive on just watching the group most of the time. She studied the group and would put the same energy out as the group as. She was still the most mysterious one. She didn't really fit into the two categories Keng had thought about.

"So," Keng spoke up. The group settled down and looked at him. "I got a ton of homework to do, but I wanted to ask you guys something in regards to that…" Thje group waited for him to continue. "Wanna do a job this weekend?"

"A job?" Olivia asked. Keng nodded. "Why? Aren't you still recovering? I thought we said we'd do it next week."

"I'm feeling fine. Ritsuka and Liz know I'm perfectly okay after seeing me in Specialization Classes. I can handle a job." Keng brushed Olivia's concern off.

"True, but I still think it's too early." Liz agreed with Olivia. "I think you should rest for at least this week before we do anything."

"C'mon, it'll be fine!" Ritsuka perked up. He was already down for it and there needed to be someone on "Lee Seng's" side. "Let's just do one of the low ranking ones. Take care of some goblins or something like that." Keng shuddered at that. He had spent much of his time dealing with goblins while in the forest and didn't know if he wanted to deal with them.

"We should practice our synergy more now that Lee Seng is here." Manny added. He propped his head up with his right arm as he looked at Liz and Olivia.

"I agree." Evan spoke up to Manny's right. "We need to practice it. We got finals to worry about in a couple months. Our teamwork will be graded. Better to start tomorrow or Sunday versus Wednesday… Since sommmeone is busy now." Evan turned his head and just stared at Manny, making it obvious who was the busy one to Keng.

"Hey! Can't blame me! The Spring Fling is coming and I gotta stay on top of it! I didn't even volunteer! I said I would 'be there' but Sanchez is on my ass lately! It's like she blames me for what happened with her slide show…" Manny pouted, crossing his arms.

"What slide show?" Keng asked.

"You seriously haven't seen that video circulating online?" Manny asked, concerned.

"No." Keng shook his head, pulling his phone out. "I've been busy trying to get back into the swing of things, so I haven't really been looking."

"I think it's better if you don't know." Ritsuka pushed the phone down.

"Just show him it." Manny nodded at Ritsuka.

"He doesn't need to see it. It's just a conjured video made by some loser who has no time." Ritsuka pushed it off.

"But it has the Creator's logo on it… Those security cameras were legit." Evan pointed out. Keng's curiosity would've grown if it weren't for the face that he already knew what they were talking about. He pulled his phone out and searched Lee Seng up on the internet. It was the first most searched thing on the search engine. Keng clicked it and watched, unsurprised.

"H-hey!" Ritsuka stood up leaning over. He wanted to snatch the phone out but Keng watched the video in silence.

'How did someone even get this footage?' Keng wondered. When the footage ended he sighed and stuffed the phone in his pocket. Keng stood up, causing everyone to look at him.

"Job this weekend? I need the hours." Keng asked the group. The group looked at each other while Calis looked at Keng with curious eyes.

'What happened?' Calis asked telepathically to Keng.

'Come to my room in a bit. I'll tell you about it.' Keng answered.

"S-sure, I guess." Liz answered. The group began to nod in agreement and Keng simply nodded and excused himself.

Keng made his way into his room, keeping the door cracked for Calis. A knock came at the door and Keng turned to see Ritsuka coming in.

"What was that all about?" Ritsuka asked quietly, closing the door. "When did that happen? That night you were found?" Keng sighed. He didn't want to think about the night he actually almost died to an insane woman. An insane demon. Keng opened his mouth to say something when another set of knocks came on the door.

"Who is it?" Keng asked. Ritsuka turned as the door cracked opened, slightly.

"Calis, can we—" Calis replied.

"Ritsuka's in here with me. Come in." Keng interrupted. Calis steeled himself quickly and stepped in. The blonde Merman nodded at Ritsuka and Keng before closing the door. "What brings you in here?"

"Oh, well…" Calis rubbed the back of his neck.

'What excuse do I make now?' Calis thought to himself. Keng cracked a smile and stood up. He wandered over to Calis and wrapped an arm around Calis.

"W-what is it, s-sir?" Calis asked. This wasn't anything Keng would do at all. It made him a bit more uncomfortable as Keng turned his attention to Ritsuka.

"Silence." Keng whispered in Fox tongue. A cosmic barrier flew outwards, covering the room.

"What's this about?" Ritsuka asked, confused. Keng glanced at Calis, removing his arm around Calis.

"There's another secret you both need to know." Keng spoke in English. He motioned over at Calis. "Calis isn't just a bodyguard, Ritsuka. He's from Daros."

"H-he's from your Realm?" Ritsuka stuttered. Ritsuka's curiosity peeked as he looked at Calis.

"You're not supposed to—" Calis began to say as Keng cut him off.

"And Ritsuka knows." Keng told him.

"Huh? W-wait, he knows? H-how?" Calis looked at Ritsuka. Keng wandered over to Ritsuaka and stood next to him.

"He was the first one Lee Seng told." Keng motioned at him. His eyes went onto Ritsuka and then onto Calis. "And Calis is here because of a quest I was on. He's here to help me look for that cup I mentioned to you about the other night."

"You told him?!? He knows?!?" Calis asked, shocked.

"Yes, he knows." Keng nodded. He sat on the bed looking between his two allies. "This'll be easier for me to catch you up, Ritsuka."

"More stuff happened?" Ritsuka folded his arms. Keng nodded.

"Calis's purpose is to act like a bodyguard but also to look for Lee Seng." Keng informed him.

"Look for the cup." Calis corrected him. He leaned against the wall as he looked at Keng and Ritsuka. "I'm here for the cup but Keng doesn't have much time before he goes demon, so I have to help him find Lee Seng."

"And we'll both get what we want." Keng reassured him. "Akio will, hopefully, give me good news and we can go from there."
