Cesar's lips curled into a sinister grin after he dropped the bomb. Virgil stopped and processed the moment before turning to look at Cesar dead in the eye.
"What did you say?" Virgil asked, sternly. They were sizing each other up. Lee Seng and Keng glanced at each other before turning to witness Virgil set his guns at his side and grab Cesar. Cesar smiled and grabbed Virgil's arm while maintaining eye contact with the other Deimon.
"You heard what I said. Why should I repeat myself?" Cesar asked, pulling Virgil's hand away and tossing it aside. He grabbed the other arm and forcefully ripped it off and held it. "It's no wonder Childs picked you. A loyal lap dog with too much emotion."
'Let's just… leave.' Keng tapped Lee Seng.
'You don't have to say that twice.' Lee Seng and Keng turned and disappeared. Virgil immediately turned, completely ignoring Cesar and cursing under his breath.
"I don't have time for this. Two of your members already died. It's only a matter of time before you and your beloved 'Queen' die." Virgil scanned the area. Cesar's face twitched with a tinge of anger.
"All of you Guards are the same." Cesar shook his head. He could feel the phasing energy fading. Cesar quickly descended down into the city. "It's a shame I cannot stay in the sky for too long… The Creator's son is slippery… I shouldn't have spent my time arguing with a lapdog Guard. You can't talk to buffoons like that."
"Did we lose 'em?" Keng asked, looking behind him. Lee Seng and Keng grew closer to the wall.
"Probably." Lee Seng answered without looking back.
"Those two seemed to… not like each other."
"I've seen the one with the guns before. He was with that fiery hot-headed woman who tried to burn me twice."
"Oh, her. He's with her? Do you think they're trying to get you?"
"Seeing as two of them came for us, I believe so." Lee Seng sighed. "But we're going straight into the den, so they probably don't see it coming."
"They're coming for us!" A distant voice shouted. Keng's eyes immediately moved downwards while Lee Seng half-looked. Small dots seemed to be fighting.
"Open the gate! Hurry!" Another distant voice shouted. "Before they come back!"
"Well, well, well… You get places faster with the streets being dead." Virgil spoke. Keng's eyes grew more serious as Virgil seemed to look up. He pulled his pistol out and pointed it straight into the air. "I found you, so don't take it personally." Virgil pulled the trigger, releasing a net of Dark Matter energy. Keng grabbed onto Lee Seng and disappeared, dropping way lower than he thought they would.
"Why'd you go so low?!? We're closer to him now!" Lee Seng shouted. Virgil pulled his other gun out and pointed it at Lee Seng and Keng. He shot at them, forcing them to drop lower.
"Who's that?" A Biohuman asked.
"Monsters?" Another Biohuman guessed.
"How many… They got a lot of tails…"
"Whoa! Drop it now!" A third Biohuman shouted as a shield flew up. The gun shots clinked against the shield as Lee Seng and Keng landed on the wall's watchtower. "Get ready!" The other Biohumans readied their attacks, watching Lee Seng and Keng and also the gunman.
"I don't got time to play with you, humans." Virgil reloaded his guns, watching the purple energy grow back. He pointed both guns at the shield and smiled. "Let's see if you can withstand this. Bullet Hell!" A howl erupted into the air as bullets began to fire outwards. The sound of clinking grew as cracks formed in the shield.
"Get down!" The third Biohuman shouted.
"Lee!" Keng pointed. Lee Seng released himself from Keng and pushed himself towards the Biohumans.
"Gate VI: Release!" Lee Seng swung his hand forward, producing bubble barriers around every single Biohuman. The bullets crashed through the first shield, quickly continuing their hellish attack onto the barriers.
"I should've known you would protect those Biohumans." Virgil spat. He twirled his guns and pointed them at the wall. "Let's see how much you can protect, Creator's son! Demolishing Shot!" A large purple energy flew out of the guns. Lee Seng shimmered for a moment before Keng flew out of Lee Seng's body. Runes grew all around as Hydrosphere appeared in Keng's hands.
"Resonance Mixed Art: Champion's Dance." The elements rained down onto Virgil as Keng dashed straight for the large purple energy. Hydrosphere hummed loudly as Keng slashed at the energy, releasing it all. Water, light, and stars exploded out of the blade, filling a large area around the bullet.
Keng pulled the explosive energy into the blade, using the water, light, and stars to trap it within the blade. A magical circle bounded itself into the blade, holding the explosive energy in it. The magical circle began to crack. Keng cursed under his breath as a large sea dragon flew out of the blade, circling Keng. Lee Seng reached out for Keng, growing bubble barriers as the Biohumans watched.
"They're on our side!" A Biohuman shouted.
"Who are they?" Another Biohuman asked.
"Now's not the time to ask questions! We're gonna die! We need to leave!"
"That's what I was just thinking…!" Lee Seng strained. He popped the barriers and looked at the Biohumans. "Go!" The Biohumans began to scatter. Some began to leap from the wall, using their abilities to get down to safety while others descended into the wall.
'I can't hold it!' Keng told Lee Seng.
"Oho! I wonder how long you'll last until it explodes. Not even Wysteria could hold all that energy!" Virgil chuckled. He twirled his guns and holstered them, immediately recharging it. He pulled a pistol out and began to shoot at Keng.
"Phantom Slash!" Cesar's shroud faded as he slashed the barrier Lee Seng was in. The blade flew past the barrier, hitting Lee Seng and shattering the barrier in an instant. Ice grew onto Lee Seng's arm and side as he quickly forced himself to move away.
"Annnnnnd the Queen's assassin is here!" Virgil loudly announced. "It's a shame you came to a closed game!" Virgil watched as Cesar moved in for the kill, only to let a bullet loose at Cesar. Cesar quickly swung, cutting the tiny purple bullet like it was nothing.
"Grrr…!" Cesar growled.
"Look, the Queen's doggy is baring his fangs. Too bad he doesn't bite!" Virgil cackled. Lee Seng lifted his right hand and blasted a bunch of barrier bubbles at Cesar. Cesar's body moved fast, slicing the bubbles in an instant. He rushed at Lee Seng, raising his blade. Another gunshot flew out, forcing Cesar to block it.
'These two don't want to help each other.' Lee Seng thought. 'I'll use that to my advantage then.'
'I can't hold it much longer!' Keng grunted. Lee Seng glanced over at Keng as he moved away from Cesar. The magical circle cracking. The entire area would be enveloped in the large energy the Deimon gunner released if Keng didn't do something. Lee Seng let out a breath, warping himself to Keng's side.
"What're you doing here…?!?" Keng struggled to talk. "You'll… die!" Lee Seng moved his hand over to the blade and enveloped it in a barrier. He began to condense the barrier, growing another one and repeating the process.
"If you die, I die." Lee Seng reminded Keng. "We don't exactly share one life." Lee Seng's tails moved, touching different points of the magical barrier Keng had created. "If only I could release the Gate right now…" He let out a sharp hiss between his teeth. Lee Seng envisioned the barrier turning off.
[Gate VI is being closed early.]
Lee Seng immediately took the leftover barrier energy and pushed it into Hydrosphere. The magical circle stopped cracking as Lee Seng's energy forced it back into place. Virgil and Cesar turned to the twins. They left themselves wide open.
"The ice Deimon can cut through barriers." Lee Seng warned Keng. "In that time, we need to strike."
"I… don't think I can hold this for much longer." Keng replied. Lee Seng grabbed Keng's hand and looked at his brother.
"This won't be the craziest thing we've done, but…" A rune grew around the blade.
"You're gonna copy it? W-wait that could be really unstable!" Keng warned Lee Seng. The rune began to fill, creating a strange depiction of Virgil's bomb skill. Lee Seng released his hand and turned.
"I'll deal with the gunner, you swing that at the ghost Deimon over there." Lee Seng told Keng the plan. "I'm sure we'll come out on top."
"There's… too much unstable energy… I—" Keng gasped.
"Let it breathe." Lee Seng quietly answered back. "It's not a part of you. It's something else entirely. You're trying to take it over when in all reality, you only need to direct where it goes." Sun blade appeared in Lee Seng's right hand, brandishing a copied version of Virgil's energy bomb. "Take and redirect. Basics 101."
"Easy for you to say… When you're not the one… holding it down…"
"It's like you said to me earlier." Lee Seng floated towards the edge of the sea dragon light star barrier. "You've been subconsciously suppressing it. Don't."
