Chapter 116 - A Day Before (4)

[Took you so long to respond, Harrison]

Along with the response that she gave to him, all of her questions and worries earlier immediately vanished like bubbles in the air. She only realized two things, One, She completely doesn't know Harrison, and two, he will never tell her about it even if she asked him. Knowing him, he will not just simply give away or tell her about his past.

[Whatever you say, the pain was so much and I was busy]

His voice rang inside her head. It seems like they are completely talking with each other, face to face. She can hear his voice clearly and it sounded loud, probably because her surroundings were silent. It was like they are talking through phone except that there was no phone and they were only using their minds. A faint smile spread across her lips before she responded,

[Really? I must be bothering you, then]

She heard a hum and guessed that it probably came from him since it was one of his habits to hum before he responds or if he wants to avoid a question or if he doesn't know what to say. They were spending so much time with each other that she memorized almost all of his habits, one of them being punctual and strict when it comes to time.

[Nah. I'm done with it and I'm laying down my bed]

Was what he said. Alexandra thought of what to respond, she should change the topic but what should they talk about? She doesn't want to lash out everything that happened but she wants to tell him about it, it's not like she did anything fun but she just wants to do so. Maybe we should talk about his friends, Nah, he'll probably won't. Knowing him, he would probably just answer with a hum and avoid the topic or just go 'Bleh, I'm not going to tell you about it' or something. Should I ask him about his day? As Alexandra was deep in thought, she heard a voice in her head once again.

[Are you not going to ask me to come over or something? it seems like you are bored or you aren't sleepy because it's rather late]

Why does he sound like a typical best friend whose best friend called him and told him that she's bored or something? She thought to herself before she responded to his question. [Nope. I think this is better, talking with you face to face is rather… exhausting. Besides, I am tired of seeing your face every day]

[That's such a huge character development in just a few weeks. Before you don't even want me to go to the academy but now, you are tired of seeing my face every day. I am hurt]

She can completely imagine the face that he was making. It's probably one of those filled with hurt and sadness which are fake, that's what he usually does when she replies with an insulting remark or say something mean. She just rolled her eyes even though he can't see her. [Whatever you say, what happened anyway? I guess you just slept during the class, so there is probably nothing interesting happening for you]

[There is. Although you can say that it is either annoying, interesting, boring, or exciting] Just by those simple words, it piqued her interest. It was probably double those emotions or feelings since Harrison rarely finds anything interesting, annoying, boring, or exciting and if he does, it is rather very unexpected and shocking. [What is it? Tell me]

[You know Elise, right? The one that we met before at the café and at the carnival, the one that I've been talking to you about] He started. Now that made her more interested and excited about what happened to him since it involved her, she was mysterious just like what he told her and she can still remember that smile she gave her during the café event or scenario. [What is it? What about her?]

[Well…]

[Well what?]

[She knew about it]

[She knew about what?]

[That it was us]

[Huh?]

Honestly, she was confused. She doesn't even know what he is talking about. What did she know? What about us? She was getting more and more curious about it. [Don't beat around the bush, just tell me already,] She told him, sounding like she was completely annoyed and very curious. [She knew that it was us, at the café and at the carnival]

A few moments of silence. Alexandra was still processing the information that she got from Harrison. She remained silent and deep in thought for a while before she responded. [Eh? Are you serious?] Was what she said despite remaining silent for like almost 3 minutes. [Do you think I'm joking?] Harrison responded, his tone sounded serious. Alexandra gulped and she laid back down her bed, she let herself lightly bounce off before she responded. [How did that happen?] She asked him. Her eyebrows were creased and her lips were forming into a frown, this is a huge problem. What if his friends also knew about it since she told them about it?

What will happen to me? She asked herself and let out a sigh. No wonder, she was acting weird at the carnival and the smile that she gave her to give her chills and screams trouble. She let out a sigh once again, she looked very troubled. Not only she was troubled about tomorrow but she is also troubled over that girl, Harrison was right on what he told me before. That girl would either annoy you or make you curious about her, she thought to herself and she heard Harrison's response to her question.

[You know what charm is, right? Because if you don't, then you are reading too many advanced books that you forgot to read the most basic ones. Either that or you really don't know it since nobody told you or whatever]

That was Harrison's response. Alexandra just rolled her eyes and responded not wanting to argue with him more knowing that she will just lose in the end. [Yes, I know it. I'm not that dumb, okay?] Was what she replied, her tone sounding like she was annoyed on what he just said. [Okay. So she was wearing a charm during that time, a high-class one to be exact since it was able to see through the illusion or barrier I made for us. Now she was threatening me a few days ago that she will tell everyone about it especially to Luke and Jerich, you know that it will be very troubling, stressing, and bad for you.]

A frown spread across Alexandra's lips. [That's annoying, somehow. What did you do about it?] She asked him. [There is only one condition, she will not tell anybody about it if I teach her on how to control her magic. So I agreed] Harrison simply said like it was nothing but Alexandra blinked multiple times after she heard his response. Wait, he agreed? Did he really agree to that? This lazy and always-bored person agreed to that kind of thing? Well, besides, my life or identity is at stake here, I'm glad that he thought about that, she thought to herself and rolled to the other side of her bed and stared at her window.

[Are you really serious? As far as I know, you never agree to those kinds of things unless…] She trailed off at the end as she figured out what tempted him to agree. No, it wasn't offering her body since they are still just kids although Harrison is an adult disguised as a kid, he just wants to minimize his use of his mana or he doesn't want to waste it yet he keeps on wasting it on me. Like teleporting to my location which is usually inside my room or going outside the palace (to the market, café, carnival and such), he sometimes uses his mana to create some illusions or to alter our appearance, she thought of herself.

Really, that guy. Why is he even doing that? She asked herself and just shook that question off as Harrison responded to her question. [Yeah. I will be able to get closer to her and learn more things about her like her ability and such. She wanted me to be the one who will teach her since I looked responsible and doesn't give a care on everything that she says. She thought that I would not tell anybody about her ability] He said. Does this guy look like you can trust him? Well, sort of… The 'doesn't give a care about everything' part is true though, he rarely listens to other people and it would just end up with him teasing that person.

[Are you grinning or smirking right now?} She asked him. She could imagine him making that kind of expression as he responded to her. He hummed before he responded, [What about it? What If I'm grinning? What will you do about it?] He is grinning. That means, he thought of a plan and she doesn't want to ask him about it. It's probably something evil.

[Nothing. I'm just asking] Alexandra responded. Before Harrison was able to respond, Alexandra was the first one to do so, [Just be careful about getting close to her. She might do something you won't like] She said. It just felt like she needs to say that like someone is telling her to say that to him. Why did she tell that to him anyway? It's not like he is going to participate in some sort of war, she thought to herself and let out a sigh. [Weird but okay. Well, I was suffering. She doesn't even know how to let out or use her mana ever since I was teaching her which was just 2 days ago. I just got back at the door form our session and it was very tiring]

She could imagine and tell that Harrison was suffering. Well, it's not like he likes to communicate or share his abilities and talents with other people, he doesn't like it when someone asked him to teach him or her in some sort of things. [That sucks. I pity you, good luck. You'll go through this, I know you can do it] She said. She is either encouraging him or annoying him, it's probably both. [I don't need your support] He said in a rather very confident way as if he can pass through it all. A small giggle escaped her lips and she rolled to the other side once again and stared at her bedside table.

[Whatever you say] She said before she yawned. Well, it's getting late and she's becoming more and more sleepy as minutes passed by. [I need to sleep now. I still have things to do for tomorrow since that would be the time that I will be introduced to everyone in my father's palace. I hope I can do it without biting my tongue or something] Alexandra said. Harrison just hummed.

[Good night] Alexandra said as her eyelids were getting heavier as each second passed by. She let herself be engulfed in the warmth of her blanket and be hugged by the softness of her mattress, she could feel her consciousness gradually slipping and drifting away towards her paradise and that is sleep.

[Good night, Alexandra]

She heard a voice but she didn't care as she was already sleepy. Before she knew it, she was already asleep.
