Chapter 136 - Night (2)

As soon as Diana left the room, Alexandra let out a sigh and she stared at the ceiling of her room. Even with that long story, Diana told her, she still wasn't sleepy. Nights like this were always cold even though with the magic surrounding her room which kept her and the room warm. She was bored and she got nothing to do, she was supposedly sleeping right now but she is still awake, wide awake.

I could use some book to read, she thought to herself and sat up from her position. Her comforter fell off to her lap as she got up. She looked around her room and spotted the bookshelf near the fireplace and the set of couches. There's probably a book that I still haven't read there, she thought as she removed the comforter laid on top of her before she got down her bed. The warmth coming from her comforter slowly left her. Even though she was already comfortable with just laying down the bed, she couldn't help but feel uneasy at the same time. Her bare feet touched against the cold floor of her room and she slid her feet inside her slippers.

Reading a book would make me sleepy, probably.

She glided her way across the room heading towards the bookshelf. Carlos might notice that I am still awake if I turned on the lights, I guess I'll just struggle through the dark and read at the balcony since it would be relaxing there even with the cold air, she thought to herself and she stared at the bookshelf in front of her. She glided her finger across the spines of the books, reading each one of the titles as she did. She was looking for something interesting and eye-catching even with just the title, that's how she usually picks a book to read.

Then two words written on the spine of the book caught her eye and made her finger stop on its spine, 'Winter Flower', the title read. Although it was dark, she can still able to read and see it clearly without squinting her eyes. Sounds interesting, maybe I should read it? Alexandra shrugged her shoulders and she took the book out from the bookshelf. Thankfully, it wasn't as heavy as she thought. Its size was just like the size of those normal books. She brushed off the dust that was on the cover of the book and read the title again.

The design of the book cover was rather simple yet elegant and neat. Carrying the book inside her arms, she walked towards the balcony door covered with curtains. She held the book with one arm and she held the knob of the door before she twisted it and swung it open right after. The cold breeze immediately greeted her and caressed her bare skin sending a shiver down her spine because of the cold.

Despite that, she still continued anyways. She walked towards the table with two chairs surrounding it. She pulled a chair behind and climbed on top of it as she set down the book on the table. A few of its dust that remained came flying in front of her face making her cough multiple times and sneeze right after. What a greeting, she thought to herself as she fanned the dust off before she blinked multiple times.

She opened the book and was greeted with a blank page with a few words written on it. Griyel Language, she thought to herself as she stared at the language and words used on that page. Well, since she was taught and she learned how to read, write, and speak in Griyel, this was no big problem for her. She turned to the next page and the page was filled with words.

Love.

That was the first word written in the first sentence. She already had a guess about what the story is about. Looks like a story for teenagers and not for a child like me but who cares, I am an adult inside and I am already used with this kind of stories, she thought to herself and shrugged before she continued reading without giving a care.

What is love?

Is it a happy feeling you get when your father bought you your favorite toy or when your mother made you your favorite dish? Is it the relaxing feeling you get when you are around the people you call friends? Is it the warm feeling you get when you are doing the things that you wanted to do?

There are many forms of love. The love between friends, the love between families, the love between hobbies. But what I am referring to was the love between another person. Not that type of love where you treat and think of him as you close him, but rather you love that person wholeheartedly. That feeling where you love that person completely, his personality, his smile, his eyes, his voice, his hands, his soul.

But I still haven't experience that kind of love as well as the love between friends and hobbies. I also want to know about it. I am curious about it, what would a person feel when they are in love? Is it warm, gentle, tender, kind, soft, innocent, pure? Or is it rough, heartbreaking, depressing, stressing, annoying?

© As sunlight enters raindrops and emerges as rainbows, so love enters the soul of each person and emerges as their passions in the arts, in science, in nature... in whatever sparks their curiosity and drive. It is how they find their truth and purpose. It is how they give of themselves to others. Love is what makes us who we are, it is the energy that brings us to life. And I met him, wearing nothing but only ragged clothes. That unexpected first encounter led me to different adventures teaching me the true definition of love. He made me feel love again.

She was almost already half-way through the book. It was so beautiful and captivating, it was just like the feeling Alexandra would have when she stares at someone who is extremely beautiful especially their eyes. She can't take her eyes off the book and she didn't notice that she was already on the 9th chapter already. She was reading for so long that she forgot to check the time if she doesn't finish this tonight, falling asleep would be hard since thoughts about the book would always bother her.

It was so carefully and beautifully written, she just can't put down the book and if she did, she would just pick it back up again to read it. It feels like she was transported into another world as she read, she could totally imagine every scenario and know the feeling. Thank goodness, she wasn't sleepy earlier and she decided to read a book or else she wouldn't be able to discover and read this masterpiece.

It feels like she was a teenager again as she read the book. How wonderful, how beautiful, how interesting this book is, she thought to herself as she continued to read. I don't need sleep, she thought to herself as she turned to the next page. The paragraph with long sentences accompanied by words greeted her sight, this time, the female lead was describing the young man. (A/N: The next paragraphs are used in one of my one-shot stories in my Tumblr account, I am writing a fanfiction there so the story 'Winter Flower' was inspired from that story or piece.)

In those earthly hues of his lies deep his emotions, his soul. It was a beautiful and attractive brown hue yet I can't completely describe its color. Even a skilled writer couldn't even completely describe how beautiful and enchanting it was. They are the forest, a young and fresh color yet the color of the leaves when it is autumn, so warm and pretty. It was chocolate yet when light shines on it, it was hazel, a different majestic shade of brown and it completely suited him. It held sparkle like the stars were living in it. His eyes looked gentle and warm as if when his gaze bores on you, it feels like it was caressing your cheek in a gentle and loving way telling you that everything will be alright. The warmth that lies deep within his eyes was like the morning sun yet it was so beautiful that I can't bear to look at it for so long without being captivated and attracted.

His smile was one of the kind. So simple and common yet so beautiful and perfect. Along with his smile was happiness that kept on growing and expanding, conquering and captivating. his smile was so genuine that it felt like it was out of the world, with just the right touch of gentleness and sweetness, I could feel the butterflies fluttering inside my stomach wanting to escape through my mouth and makes me want to scream how beautiful, captivating, and enchanting you are.

"His voice might sound completely normal in other people's ears but for me, it was heaven itself. It was like the angels were speaking to me even though he was completely far away. It was mellifluous, so melodic and soothing. I could record his voice and listen to it all day without getting tired of it. It was like a mother's gentle lullaby to its baby, cradling me to sleep. His voice was a complete match to his features, gentle, sweet, beautiful, captivating. It was so sweet and gentle yet venomous and dangerous, like cupcakes sprinkled with poison,"

She thought it was just the sound of her voice inside her head reading the paragraph but how come her voice is deep and low inside her head, it sounds like a man. Aside from that, it sounds like it was whispering in her ear. Then her eyes widened. That voice sounds familiar, don't tell me..!

She turned her head around, her eyes wide in surprise as she guessed the owner of that voice. Crap, crap, crap, she cursed inside her mind as she turned her head to the direction of the voice. Her ocean-like blue pair met crimson and blood-like red ones.

In those red eyes of his lies his soul deep inside, it was so deep and dark as if it was pulling her in. Captivating yet mysterious, she could stare at it all day without getting bored of it. How such is a deep and fiery shade was as beautiful as the flowers blooming in the garden yet so scary like the eyes of a murderer? They say the eyes are the window to the soul and if you stare longer at it, you could completely see what the person was feeling but yours was blank. It was emotionless and empty. Just like a canvas with a simple drawing that an artist drew without putting any effort. Yet she was still captivated by it, she was intrigued by the color and the beauty it held.

"Harrison..?" She whispered out his name as she met his gaze. His lips were pursed into a thin line before the corners lifted into a smile, a cheeky one to be exact. "Nice seeing your ugly face again," Was what he responded to her.
