Chapter 137 - Night (3)

She thought it was just the sound of her voice inside her head reading the paragraph but how come her voice is deep and low inside her head, it sounds like a man. Aside from that, it sounds like it was whispering in her ear. Then her eyes widened. That voice sounds familiar, don't tell me..!

She turned her head around, her eyes wide in surprise as she guessed the owner of that voice. Crap, crap, crap, she cursed inside her mind as she turned her head to the direction of the voice. Her ocean-like blue pair met crimson and blood-like red ones.

In those red eyes of his lies his soul deep inside, it was so deep and dark as if it was pulling her in. Captivating yet mysterious, she could stare at it all day without getting bored of it. How is such a deep and fiery shade was as beautiful as the flowers blooming in the garden yet so scary like the eyes of a murderer? They say the eyes are the window to the soul and if you stare longer at it, you could completely see what the person was feeling but yours was blank. It was emotionless and empty. Just like a canvas with a simple drawing that an artist drew without putting any effort. Yet she was still captivated by it, she was intrigued by the color and the beauty it held.

"Harrison..?" She whispered out his name as she met his gaze. His lips were pursed into a thin line before the corners lifted into a smile, a cheeky one to be exact. "Nice seeing your ugly face again," Was what he responded to her. Alexandra remained silent and speechless as if she just saw a ghost standing in front of her, she doesn't know how to react. Even though she was wishing for Harrison to visit her since she was bored and her days were sort of boring for her that's why she was feeling lazy every day but now that he is standing in front of her, it feels like her voice was snatched away from her leaving her silent the whole time as she stared at her.

Come to think of it, I kept on wishing for him to visit me but I wasn't thinking about what we should talk about, she thought to herself and stopped the urge to slap the palm of her hand on her forehead. Maybe I should talk about what happened for the past few weeks when he was gone, Alexandra stared at him more and noticed his appearance.

"You look like crap, did you went through some sort of a war or something?" Alexandra said in a nonchalant tone of voice. Her face was blank as she said those to him, even though she was being worried for him it sounded like an insult when it came out of her mouth. "We didn't saw each other for 3 weeks and that's the first thing you say to me? I am hurt, my heart is broken. You shattered it into pieces and now I am lost," Harrison said as he wiped a fake tear in his eyes but Alexandra just looked at him with an annoyed expression. Disgust was written all over her face. Really, this guy.

"Whatever you say. Anyways, would you like to go inside? It's cold out here," Alexandra said to him as she pointed the door with the use of her thumb as she spoke. Harrison hummed before he responded in a nonchalant voice, "Yeah, sure. I don't want to be just standing out here anyways," He said and Alexandra closed the book, remembering the page that she was on hoping that she will still be able to remember it the next morning. Alexandra walked towards the door and Harrison followed her from behind quietly as much as possible.

Harrison closed the door behind her and Alexandra made her way towards the bed since it would be much more comfortable and relaxing if she was sitting on her bed. Aside from that, it was also warm and soft which would make her more relaxed and at ease as she talks with him. Maybe I would fall asleep right after I finished talking with him, that would happen always every time after I talked to him. As Alexandra climbed up her bed, Harrison dragged a chair towards the side of her bed and placed it there before he sat on it. Alexandra covered herself with her comforter before she shifted around, making sure she was comfortable in that position.

"So, care to explain why you are still awake? It's already hours past your bedtime and I found you reading a book in the balcony of your room. It's cold out there and you didn't even bring something that would cover you in case if you get cold. You really are careless, what if your head maid walks in because of her patrol which she will do every night to make sure that you didn't go out of your room even though you have a knight guarding outside your room and making sure that you are inside? What if she finds you just reading in the balcony? You know how scary she is when she gets angry or when she scolds you," Now Harrison was scolding her as if he was her mother or something. Well, he has a point, Alexandra thought to herself. I should have been careful.

Diana, even though she gets angry or something bad happens that affected her greatly, she would still remain calm as water. But when she scolds someone, it somehow feels so scary. She would say some poisonous and insulting words in that sweet and gentle tone of hers with a tender smile spread across her lips and her eyes closing in the process. That was a different kind of angry but it was really scary. No wonder, some of the maids are afraid of her even with Carlos whose rank is above her because of the way that she acts when she becomes angry or when someone angers her.

"Well, you see, I was feeling bored and lazy these days. I want to do something but it's either I am busy or I am feeling lazy. I was thinking of when you will visit you know and that would bother me every night because I need someone to talk to. Don't get me wrong, even though you are really annoying, you are fun to be with. Well, aside from all of that, I wasn't sleepy even though Diana told me a very long story which I would usually fall asleep in the middle of her story-telling so I decided to read a book," Alexandra explained as she made some hand gestures as she talked making it looked like she was a puppet being controlled by someone.

"Hmm, then what is it that you want to talk about?" Harrison responded to her after he hummed. Alexandra's eyes sparkled, it seems like he is not going to scold me any further! She thought to herself and she celebrated inside her mind. "Well, I already told you about the time that I am going to be introduced to the people working inside my father's palace, right?" Alexandra started as she stared at him, eager to tell everything that she bottled up for days.

"Nope," Harrison responded in a flat voice as he stared back at her. "Ehhh?" Was Alexandra's response when she heard what he said. How come I didn't tell him about that before? I can still remember clearly that I told him about it, I think it was a few days before he leaves and goes back to the academy during the night when I was about to fall asleep. "I really can't remember," He sounds like he was just messing around with her or he was teasing her. Alexandra stared at him, not saying anything, her eyebrows creased and her eyes narrowed down on him as if she was glaring at him. She was hoping that he was lying because that would just make the story longer.

"You're just joking around, right?" Alexandra asked him after a sigh escaped her lips, not able to handle the silence that surrounded the two of them anymore. "Well, yeah. It was just fun messing around with you since it has been a long when I was able to do so," Was his response and Alexandra felt the urge to throw the pillow or the book that she was reading earlier which was now placed on top of her nightstand but she held herself back thinking that he might get revenge and throw the book back at her again, knowing how accurate his throws are.

"Ugh, whatever," Alexandra just rolled her eyes in annoyance before she started telling him about what happened for the past few weeks. Starting from the time that she was introduced to everyone, to meeting Rowan and Isabella, to getting along and talking with the prince of Luminaria Kingdom, and up to now. She told him everything, not missing a single detail and as she did, it felt like something heavy was being taken away from her. She was feeling light as she spoke to him.
