"Then after that, the week was already boring and I was feeling lazy every day. There was no thrill or something exciting happening. I couldn't even freely go out of my room during the night because of Carlos. Diana would roam around the palace during the night and enter my room to see if I was still there. So when you suddenly appeared and as I am talking with you, it feels like something heavy was lifted off my chest and I was feeling productive or energetic as ever. Thank you," Alexandra continued. What would happen if he didn't visit today? She would probably be still awake, reading a book so that she can fall asleep right after. Aside from that, she would still be feeling lazy and bored. She wouldn't have the motivation to do something for tomorrow. She was thankful for Harrison and his sudden visit after three weeks.
"Thanking me suddenly, I felt goosebumps and chills running down my spine, that's weird," He said and embraced himself as he was having these chills. Alexandra glared at him and threw the pillow beside her at him without hesitating at all. An irk mark appearing on her forehead, making her have this irritated look. Really, this guy, she thought to herself as she balled her fists. "How mean, I was being kind! Would you like me to get angry at you then? Because if you wanted to, you already did," Harrison just let out a laugh after hearing what she said and didn't say anything.
Alexandra just blankly stared at him and waited for his laughter to die down before she asked him a question which she was meaning to ask since before. "Are you finish laughing?" Alexandra asked with one of her eyebrows raised. "Yeah, continue what you are about to say," He said and let out a sigh, his features relaxing and calming down as he did. He stared at her, "Well, I was meaning to ask this. I was really curious about it, you know and I thought that it's your time to tell me how your past weeks went. What happened with the Elise girl?" She said.
Harrison's relaxed and calm expression turned into a serious one after hearing what she asked him. A chill was sent down Alexandra's spine after seeing that expression on his face. It was sort of scary and he would rarely show that expression when he is around her. He must have had a hard time while he was with her, poor Harrison, she thought to herself. Was that sarcasm or pity?
"She was tiring to deal with. I want to give up," Harrison said.
Huh?
Alexandra stared at him with a confused gaze, Harrison looked tired. Not totally tired, but he looks sort of dead. Like he is annoyed about everything in this world. "Are you okay?" Alexandra asked in a worried tone of voice as she stared at him, her eyes tainted with worry. Harrison met her worried gaze, his eyes staring blankly at her. "If you call being able to go through your day without being annoyed with everyone you see not even talking to them especially her and going home feeling positive, not exhausted and tired from all the things that you dealt throughout the day being okay, then I am not," Harrison responded and groaned in annoyance.
His forehead was creased as his eyebrows were knitted, his lips were forming into a frown. "But that sounds like you every day," Alexandra said. She wasn't trying to insult him, he was always like that. He hates people just like how her brother Gilbert hates them, talking with them was rather exhausting and annoying.
"Well, that's true. But this time, it was completely different. She asked me to teach her about controlling her magic and how to use it properly because I am good at it. I know that I am good at it, of course. But I am not good when it comes to teaching people," He looks frustrated. Poor Harrison, he must have gone through a lot. Does that mean that girl was somehow torturing Harrison in the way that he completely dislikes or hates? Not totally torture, but making him suffer so much. Aside from that, the girl has the information Harrison needs and she also knows about my existence but not who I am.
Alexandra clenched her fists, feeling her nails dig deeper into her skin.
"I'm sorry," Those two words escaped from her mouth, catching Harrison off-guarded and confused. "What are you being sorry for?" Harrison asked, confusion lacing his tone of voice. Alexandra showed him an awkward smile before she responded, "You know, I wasn't being careful and I was probably the reason why you are in that position. I am really sorry," Alexandra said, her voice sounded apologetic. Her eyebrows upturned as she forced a smile on her lips.
Harrison just let out a sigh before he replied, "Just earlier, you are being thankful, now you are being sorry for me. You know, it isn't your fault. We don't know, it was unexpected. We never knew about it. We didn't know that she was carrying a charm. I should be the one at fault, I took you out and was confident with my abilities, thinking that no one knows us not remembering that charms exist," Harrison said.
Alexandra just hummed as she kept her head down low, staring at her clenched fists, and Harrison ruffled her hair, making it messy but she didn't mind it. Harrison's hand was warm and gentle, I wonder what kind of expression he is making right now, she thought to herself. Is it as gentle and warm as the hand that he was using or is it still blank as always? She asked herself.
Knowing him, it would still be blank or expressionless as always. What do you expect from him?
But it wasn't. As gentle and as cool the color of the moonlight passing through the small gaps of the curtain which covered the balcony door, there was a subtle smile plastered across his face. Not easily noticed as it was only faint.
"Harrison?" Alexandra called out to him. "What?" He responded in his boring tone of voice as he pulled back his hand while she lifted her head and looked at him. "There are two types of magic in this world, the dark magic, and light magic. The most common one is light magic and the rarer ones are the Holy magic and the dark magic," Alexandra started as she looked at him.
Yes, in this world, aside from light magic, there is also Holy magic. Not even priests and clergy who serve the Holy church don't have Holy magic. They only have light magic which is pretty common for everyone in this world. For the person to be a wielder of Holy magic, he or she must have been bestowed by the goddesses and gods, which is what they say. Alexandra just recently knew about that when Ferdinand was teaching her. She thought there were only two types of magic but there were three of them.
But it doesn't mean that you are already strong if you are a wielder of either Holy magic or Dark magic. It just means you possess great power and ability however, it depends on the person who is wielding it. If he or she doesn't know how to control his magic, then it's useless. Even people who only have light magic are much more powerful than people who have Holy magic or Dark magic. But we can't deny that even when they still can't control it, they are still powerful but deadly especially for Dark magic, the element of destruction, death, sorrow, and all sorts of negative emotions and things in this world.
People who wield Holy magic are declared as saints. But that doesn't mean they preach, it is just like a title. To honor them or something like that.
Aside from that, all wielders of Holy magic also possess light magic but that doesn't mean people who have light magic are wielders of light magic. This world is far way more complicated than her previous world but it's much more peaceful and beautiful here than that world filled with crime. She prefers her life here now rather than her previous one which is filled with bad memories and such.
"What about it?"
"What kind of magic does Elise have? You mentioned that she wants you to teach her how to control her magic and how to use it properly which means you will be able to see what kind of magic does she have," Alexandra said. She was bothered by it, when the first time that she saw her, she was captivated by the beauty and aura she held. But then there was something wrong and she felt uneasy or uncomfortable as she talked to her and was near her. There was something wrong, she can feel it. It was like her instincts were telling her to run away or don't get near her.
"It's pretty much normal. Light magic. I don't know why she can't control it easily and she was having a hard time doing so. Well, she's a girl and normally, girls don't have that much powerful magic. She was weak but her magic was strong and powerful yet she can't control it nor does she know how to control it. That's probably the reason why the headmaster accepted her in the academy but I think there is still another reason," Harrison responded. Unlike earlier, he looks frustrated, annoyed, and exhausted, right now, he looks calm and relaxed. That's quite a relief, actually.
"I see," Alexandra just replied and she looked away. She looked at her hands as if there was something interesting there. "Then I'll be going now," When she heard Harrison said that, she whipped her head to his direction and looked at him. "Already?" She asked him with a frown on her lips, she still doesn't want him to leave yet. She looked like a clingy friend who doesn't want her best friend to leave their house yet.
"It's already late and it would be bad if Diana would suddenly enter your room then find me here. Besides you need to sleep, it would be bad if I will remain here any longer. You won't have that much energy in the next morning, knowing how many things you have to do tomorrow, you need to have so much energy and strength. Aside from that, lack of sleep is bad for a kid like you," Harrison said and Alexandra just pouted before she heaved a sigh.
"You sound like Diana," She said and Harrison frowned. "Just go to sleep already, you idiot," He said and remained seated. "Are you still not going to go yet? Aren't you afraid of Diana finding you here inside my room in the middle of the night? Besides, you also need to sleep. You still have to deal with Elise tomorrow, just to remind you," Alexandra said as she looked at him, he would usually vanish into thin air with just a snap of his fingers.
"Unlike you, I can go through a day with just 3 hours of sleep. Besides, Diana wouldn't find me here if you sleep already. Once you fall asleep, I'll leave," He said and leaned back on his chair. "Fine," Alexandra said as she laid back down and stared at the white ceiling of her room without saying anything. Silence dominated the room as nobody dared to speak. Alexandra felt sleepy as time slowly passed by and she yawned. She looked at her side and saw Harrison still seating beside her, looking at her. His eyebrow was raised, "What? Are you not sleepy yet?" He asked.
"I am. I just want to say good night before I fall asleep," Alexandra said and forced a smile on her face. "Well, good night. Now, go to sleep before I make you do so," He said. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say," Alexandra responded as her eyelids became heavy. Her vision slowly turning black as her eyes closed. Before she knew it, she fell into a deep and peaceful slumber.
