Chapter 225 - Spilled Secrets (2)

'For the truth that you seek will be found here.'

Alexandra's eyebrows furrowed as she read those words at the button of the book. She, then, lifted her head to expecting to see the ghostly woman who she followed as she motioned for her to come here but she only saw nothing. As if the woman that she saw earlier was just a hallucination or a product of her imagination. But it doesn't seem like her mind was playing with her and it seems like that woman wanted her to see this book.

This world is filled with impossible things. Ghosts might even exist here.

What if those extra-terrestrial creatures also exist in this place? Nah, that's impos—But most of the impossible things back then in her previous life exists here. What if—Wait, why am I even thinking about this in the first place?

She let out a sigh and shook those thoughts off in her head, focusing on the situation that she is in right now.

"A-Are you still there?" Her voice faltered and faded in the end as she was still afraid and nervous, her knees were quivering and shaking in fear as the palm of her hands became cold. God, why did I even ask that? Do ghosts speak? She looks like a ghost to me, she thought to herself. But she was different from the usual ghosts that she would see, she was beautiful and she also looks familiar.

She roamed her eyes around the place, thinking that the ghostly woman was there. But there really was no one, she was the only one inside this library. The library was quiet but the silence was creeping her out that even the light sound of leaves rustling from the outside of the window was scaring her.

She walked around, still looking around the place, she was still holding the book while she did so. God, this is a life filled with fantasy and magic, why is there some sudden horror? She thought to herself as she walked around and almost screamed when she caught something white and fluttering in the corner of her eyes. But it was only the curtain by the window, fluttering with the wind that entered.

Relief washed over her and she stopped from her tracks.

Alexandra felt chills run down her spine and she gulped hard. Her gaze returned to the book that she was holding in her hand. The book looked old as if it has been here longer than Sir Frederick's age. She stared at it and was contemplating if she should place it back to the shelf or what? But then, her gut was telling her to keep it with her and bring it to her room to investigate.

This was a sealed book with words seen on the back part which piqued her curiosity and interest.

Though she was doubtful and suspicious, she decided to leave the library while hugging the book in her arms as she couldn't handle the creepy silence and eerie atmosphere of the place.

--

'As only the true-blooded

will be able to uncover

the hidden.'

Those words repeated and rang inside her head. What do they mean by that?

Alexandra's eyebrows furrowed and her lips were forming into a frown, her eyes squinting at the words seen on the back part of the book. Her elbows propped up by the surface of the desk, near the book, as she rested her cheek against the palm of her hand. She hummed as her other hand was resting on top of the desk, her index finger tapping against the surface continuously against it. She let out a groan before she leaned against the back of her chair, she crossed her arms and she stared at the sealed old book.

She was back inside her room, sitting on the chair in front of her desk with the book on top of it along with a few other things. She has asked Carlos to help her clear out and place the gifts and letters that she received somewhere as she would handle it later. The book is much more important, the curiosity overwhelmed her and there were many questions inside her head.

It's mostly about the book and the woman that she saw earlier in the library.

She was sure that she saw that woman before, even before she encountered and saw her in the library. However, she doesn't know where and no matter how hard she tries to remember, nothing would come up and her head would just ache.

"Everything is way too confusing for me," She grumbled and an exasperated sigh slipped past her lips, there was a heavy feeling on her shoulders as it was some sort of tension placed on top of it. There was a clenching feeling in her chest and her head was aching because of her thoughts and by trying to decipher the message or what the book was trying to say. Though it sounded simple in somebody else's ears, it was different for her.

This was a sealed book and this might hold something important.

Aside from that, she also noticed this small hole or something in the cover or front part. Its size was like the size of a tear or something. It was found in the middle of the cover and she stared at it, intensely as if something would happen if she did so.

She let out a sigh once again before she leaned forward and picked up the book. Her fingers fondle against the cover that felt smooth and velvety surface against her fingertips. It felt satisfying and she let out a hum, closing her eyes. Maybe I should take a break, she thought to herself as she caressed her fingers against the book.

Though her finger felt the part of the book that felt like it was missing something. It was that small hole that was found in the middle of the cover. Her finger remained there for a few seconds as she felt it, slightly curious.

However, as she did so, she felt something sharp and it punctured her index finger as if a needle being injected to her skin, she jolted her eyes open and she cursed as she abruptly let go of the book, almost throwing it in the process.

"Ow, what in the world was that?" She couldn't help but shout as she winced in pain. It wasn't just some small pain or something, it was like a small part of her skin was being pinched with the use of the nails on the fingers or like she was bitten by a cat or something. She looked at her index finger and saw blood trickling down from it. Her eyes widened when she saw it and decided to heal it with the use of magic.

It was just a small wound but it felt painful, she thought to herself as she healed her wound. Feeling this tingly and cool feeling for a moment.

But then, her attention was grabbed by the sound of pages being flipped continuously and she lifted her gaze away from her newly-healed finger to the book that she was holding earlier which was now floating the air, glowing with magic circles of different colors and kinds surrounded it.

Her eyes widened and confusion overwhelmed her instead of curiosity. The book was open with its pages being flipped continuously, one after another. The sound that it emitted filled the whole room as she was at a loss for words. The magic circles only glowed and surrounded it.

Is this an exorcism or what? She asked herself as she watched the scene unfold in front of her like she was watching a movie. It only lasted for less than a minute and the magic circles slowly disappeared and the book gradually fell back down the table, it was like a feather falling and the book was closed unlike earlier which was opened.

She was way too shocked and confused about everything that she leaned and backed away too much that her chair tumbled back and she fell to the ground. She snapped out of her daze once she felt that sharp pain on her back when she fell. She lifted her upper torso, "God. That hurts!" She couldn't help but say as she blinked multiple times. Her dress became a mess and her skirt slightly revealed her legs. This was much more painful than the previous one, obviously.

"Princess, what happened?!"

It seems like Carlos heard the loud thud she and the chair emitted because he abruptly opened the door and called out for her in a worried tone of voice but he only saw a scene which was quite embarrassing for Alexandra. Of course, she was on the ground with the chair along with her legs slightly revealed and her dress a mess but she immediately fixed and hid it as soon as she heard Carlos' voice.

"Princess, why are you on the floor?"

"Just get out and close the door," Alexandra said, slightly embarrassed, still on the ground.

--

Now, she was back, sitting on her chair in front of the desk with the book on top of it. She dragged the chair near the desk and adjusted her position though her back was still hurting because of the impact that she made on the floor. She cracked her knuckles and fingers after that and leaned back on her seat as she felt comfortable.

Because of what happened earlier (the book floating in the air as it was being surrounded by magic circles), she became curious and picked the book up. However, what she saw shocked and made her bewildered.

Instead of a blank front cover with only the small hole, there were letters engraved on it which composed one word.

Truth.

Though she was astonished and bewildered, she scanned all the pages of the book, and instead of a blank one without anything written or seen, it now contains words, paragraphs, and such. So does that mean, I was able to open or uncover the contents of the book? She asked herself, incredulous by what happened.

She then recalled the words that she read on the back part of the book which was now gone and the one on the bottom was the one that remained (For the truth that you seek will be found here.)

'As only the true-blooded

will be able to uncover

the hidden.'

Wait.

Before that thing happened, where the book suddenly floated in the air and was surrounded with magic circles, she recalled her index finger being punctured by something when she let it rest against that small hole or something and there was blood. Does that mean I was able to uncover what was hidden in this book with my blood? And also, the true-blooded part? What about that? Is it because I am an 'Everly'?

Ah, I'll think about that later. I just want to read what was written in here, she thought to herself and shook her head before she opened the book and read what was written on the first page. The handwriting looked neat and pretty.

'For the person who is reading this diary of mine.

In order to unlock or uncover the contents of the book, you must be a true-blooded Everly whose blood dripped down on the small missing part on the cover. And it seems like you were able to. Either accidentally or you were able to figure out my message.

I am writing on this page before my very demise.

I will tell you everything about the 'Everly Bloodline'. The seemingly perfect and powerful bloodline with only males. I will tell you the truth and what should have been written on the historical books about them.

I am Katelyn Lilith Victoria Cataleya who took on the surname 'Everly' when I married the 7th emperor.

16th day of March, 29th Year of the 7th Emperor.'

Alexandra's eyes widened and she almost let go of the book that she was holding when she read the name that was written.

Katelyn Lilith Victoria Everly.

She has heard that name a few times during her sessions with Ferdinand and when she read the history books of the bloodline. She was quite known for her beauty and for the power that she wields, she was a wielder of Dark Magic. A rare one.

But she took her life away.

Because of that, she was known as:

Suicide Empress.

She took her life away in a library. But it wasn't just some simple library. It was the library in Wistalia Palace.

And she was the ghost that Alexandra saw earlier.
