Chapter 226 - Spilled Secrets (3)

The silence felt chilly and heavy for her as she continued reading the book, flipping the page to its last. There was a solemn expression on her face as she stared at the last page, reading the last few words of the person who wrote this. Her knees felt weak though she was sitting and her hands were shaking and sweating coldly.

She gulped hard as she read the last word, her hand loosened the grip around the book and it fell back to the table, emitting a faint sound of a thud as Alexandra was dumbfounded and shocked by what she read and the truth that she learned. It was way too much for her, the information, and everything that is revealed about her bloodline.

She leaned back on her seat, staring at the ceiling, she could feel the clenching feeling on her chest, and her heart felt like it was being stabbed multiple times. Her eyes felt hot and tears threatened to come out and escape. She felt weak, speechless, scared, shocked, sad, heartbroken, and all sorts of negative emotions are whirling inside her like a tornado destroying everything.

Katelyn Lilith Victoria Everly was the one who wrote this.

She died hundreds of years ago at that time when the 7th emperor, Alistair Alcott Frank Everly, was the one ruling over the empire. She was married to him or rather was forced to marry him so she lived a rather unhappy life. She had 5 children, 3 are deceased, and died immediately after they were born or when they were still a baby. The reasons that were written in the book was because of a disease or it didn't survive. It was because Katelyn was a wielder of dark magic and it might be affecting the baby or fetus.

Katelyn lived a rather unhappy life despite having it all, an emperor as her husband, an empress as a position, 2 good-looking and powerful sons, living in a palace, having almost all of the riches in the world, and such things that most of the women can't have. Aside from that, she is also a wielder of dark magic which is pretty rare as a female.

However, it was probably because she wasn't able to live the life that she has wanted that's why she committed suicide. The deaths of her children were probably too much for her that's why she took her life.

But the reason was different, completely different.

She has written and revealed everything in this book or diary. The truth of their bloodline and the reason for them having only males. It was dark, tragic, sad. Alexandra felt like breaking down at this point.

Their bloodline, the people's view in it was wrong. It was different. The truth and reason were much more heartbreaking and darker than she thought.

Their bloodline had females even during the past. One hundred years before she was born. Their bloodline really did have females but—

They were all killed immediately after they were born.

Females are naturally weak when it comes to physical strength and magical abilities. They are seen as something useless and are only suitable for chores and as a wife. They don't have powerful abilities or superior magical abilities even when their parents are. Magical abilities and such can be inherited but for them, it was somehow impossible and hard.

Although there are rare ones though that are powerful when it comes to magic and such and Katelyn was one of those females. She was a wielder of dark magic and was pretty much known for it, she would sometimes fight in battles and taught her children how to do control their magic.

Their bloodline wants to have powerful and strong members, they want to be known as a powerful bloodline and since females are weak, they immediately kill them when there is one born in their bloodline and disguise it as an accident, a death by illness, and such reasons that looks acceptable for the citizens. The gender of those babies wasn't revealed to anyone and only them knows about it.

There is this one prince that isn't powerful when it comes to magic and such but is smart and intelligent, however, he died rather early and the reason for his death was an accident. The carriage that he was riding fell down a cliff. There are also other empresses who have children who died rather early and the gender isn't revealed or written on the book.

If the mother learned about their child being a female, they would either just let it be killed or run away with it but when they chose the latter, they would be killed along with the child. They would also disguise it as an accident.

In this case, Katelyn had 3 daughters who were all killed by the orders of their father and she was tired with that. She was heartbroken and depressed that she wrote this diary, sealed it before she died and only a member of their bloodline would be able to reveal its contents after hundreds of years. Yes, she planned on getting everything revealed after hundreds of years and not years after she died because nothing would happen with that.

The truth was uncovered and revealed by Alexandra and she was dumbfounded by it.

Less than 300 years ago, the previous empresses would only bore males and no baby would be killed. The empresses either have a child or two and they would always be males.

It was like God has prevented them from having females at the moment as to not let any innocent babies be killed, not until she was born. She survived but she was seen as something insignificant, a curse, or something as she was a female. She was almost killed by her father not until Diana arrived at the right time before the sword would remove her head that was intact on her small body. She was still a baby during that time.

It was like the process or history repeated if she was killed during that time.

There was a lump on her throat as she remembered what was written on the last page.

--

It seems like I would be reunited with my daughters. I wonder what they look like, I wonder if they have grown and was living in a better place or reincarnated to live on the land once again. I have always wanted to see them, to meet them. They were killed right after they were born and they didn't even give me a chance to hold them, to kiss them on their forehead, to cradle them in my arms while singing a lullaby before saying goodbye.

I knew that they were going to kill me as I am planning on revealing the truth to everyone. They sensed it.

But I would rather kill myself than die on their own hands.

For the person who is reading this, no matter how dark and scary this truth is, no matter how hard it is to say it because it might stain the name of our bloodline, no matter what might happen if you reveal this, do not be afraid. Do it, for the sake of yourself, for the bloodline, and for the innocent lives that were taken.

Do it for them.

Do it for me.

Do it for you.

15th day of March, 29th Year of the 7th Emperor.

--

There was even a sign with her name in it along with a fingerprint that was dyed red as if it was her blood. There were what it seems like teardrops on that page and her handwriting was messy, the ink was smudged. As if she was crying while writing all of this.

I just couldn't keep this to myself, Empress Katelyn did everything in order to do this and she even sacrificed her life. Even though she already died hundreds of years ago and this was rather old, she can't let the truth be kept to herself. Her father, her brothers, not even a single person knows about this. About why their bloodline only had males.

The truth was scary, dark, twisted. It was like some sort of twist was added in her life and it changed everything.

She recalled her words once again.

'For the person who is reading this, no matter how dark and scary this truth is, no matter how hard it is to say it because it might stain the name of our bloodline, no matter what might happen if you reveal this, do not be afraid. Do it, for the sake of yourself, for the bloodline, and for the innocent lives that were taken.'

To think that the truth was hidden to every one for hundreds of years. They have seen and viewed their bloodline in the wrong way.

'It seems like I would be reunited with my daughters. I wonder what they look like, I wonder if they have grown and was living in a better place or reincarnated to live on the land once again. I have always wanted to see them, to meet them. They were killed right after they were born and they didn't even give me a chance to hold them, to kiss them on their forehead, to cradle them in my arms while singing a lullaby before saying goodbye.'

She could imagine and hear the sadness in her voice as she read that one line. She knew that the most heart-breaking thing for a mother is the death of their children and Katelyn wasn't even given a chance to at least have a memory of them, even if it's just a few seconds. Even Alexandra felt sad about that.

She wasn't the only mother who experienced that. Along with other empresses who bore a female child, they have experienced the same thing as her.

I'll do it.

Alexandra stood up from her seat and immediately grabbed the book before she turned around, running towards the door of her room. Alexandra was making her way to the door rather frantically though her knees still felt weak and tears threatened to come out of her eyes. She held the knob of the door and swung it as she immediately left, not even closing the door behind her and leaving Carlos behind who was startled.

"Princess, where are you going?!" Carlos shouted and called out to her as he saw Alexandra running out of her room, heading towards the stairs but even though his voice was loud that it echoed in the hallway, Alexandra just ignored him. The tapping of her footwear against the steps of the stairs was rather loud and when she arrived on the floor that she was heading to, she ran once again.

She passed by multiple people who were also startled by her sudden appearance. Some even called out to her and asked her where she is going.

"Princess, watch out!"

"Woah, your majesty!"

"Princess, where are you going?"

"Princess, be careful!"

"Eh, princess?!"

But she just ignored them, she hugged the book closer to her chest and even though she was tired and out of breath, she didn't stop. She only looked ahead of her and ran.

She has some important things to do and tell her father.

She was heading towards his office where he would be, working, as usual. As she was telling herself earlier, she just can't keep the truth all by herself. This is for the sake of her and her bloodline, along with the innocent lives that were taken away.

With one last step and turn, she arrived in front of her father's office. The golden knob of the door greeted her and she stood there for a moment, catching her breath as she was panting. She was bending down slightly while still holding the book, sweat trickled down her forehead and down to her chin. The tears that threatened to escape were gone and were replaced with sweat instead.

She reached out to the golden knob once she recovered before swinging it abruptly, not caring if there are any people aside from her father.

"Dad!"

Now, she's ready to reveal and tell everything.
