Chapter 227 - Spilled Secrets (4)

Alexandra opened the door abruptly, grabbing the attention of her father as she called out to him as well as the other people who were inside. Her voice was rather loud and it resonated inside the room, echoing and bouncing off the walls.

"Dad!"

Their heads turned in the direction of the girl that just entered, holding a book close to her chest as she panted. The people inside the room were rather startled by her sudden appearance but she didn't care. This was much more important. Sir Friyedor along with Sir Louise are inside the room along with Lysander and her father sitting behind the desk. He doesn't like he was busy except that he was in the middle of having a discussion with the two Elders in front of him but was interrupted by Alexandra's sudden appearance.

It was silent as they stared at her, not until Friyedor spoke. His blonde hair was tied into a low ponytail as his eyes were nailed on her.

"Oh, isn't it the little princess? How are you doing? What brings you here? Are you here to see your father?" Sir Friyedor started to attack her with multiple questions as he grinned at her, his voice sounded carefree as if this happening, entering without knocking and getting interrupted was fine by him. Well, it's not like he doesn't do it every time he enters her father's office. Sir Louise didn't say anything as he stared at her but he was curious about what brings the princess here while having a panicked expression and holding a book.

Alexandra just smiled and didn't say anything as she composed herself and cleared her throat before she spoke, straightening up her body.

"A pleasant afternoon, Sir Friyedor and Sir Louise. I apologize if I have interrupted the discussion that you were having."

"It's fine," Sir Louise responded in a calm voice as he looked at Alexandra. She then heard a voice coming from behind the two of them and the voice belongs to her father, grabbing their attention, their gazes darted in his direction. He was leaning back against his seat as he was holding a sheet of paper in his hands.

"Alexandra, what brings you here? Where is your personal knight?" Her father's voice sounded nonchalant but curiosity was lacing his tone. Right, the book, she realized why she was here. She closed the door behind her as she didn't say anything while she walked towards his desk.

The sound of her footwear clicking against the floor was the only thing heard and stopped in front of the wooden desk where her father was sitting behind it, there were a few stacks of papers placed on top of the desk accompanied with scattered pens and things that her father didn't bother to clean up.

She was still clutching the book in her arms as she has no intention of letting go of it.

Alexandra's usually gentle and calm expression turned cold and serious, her lips didn't have that tender smile and it was forming a straight line. Everyone's eyes were on her and Alexandra opened her mouth to speak, her voice sounded cold and serious as if her words have some weight in it. She was going to tell them something important, really important.

"Father, I have something to tell you."

When Alexandra calls her father as neither 'Dad' nor 'Papa' and instead, calls him 'father', he knew that this is something serious and important. The grave expression on her face tells him that also. He let out a sigh as he placed down the sheet of paper that he was holding on his messy desk, leaning back on his seat once again as he crossed his legs and rested his hands on top of it while his fingers were intertwined with each other.

He was about to respond when the door was suddenly swung open once again and it revealed Alexandra's personal knight who was panting and sweating. His eyes surveyed the room as if he was looking for something and his gaze darted at Alexandra's direction whose head was turned in his direction, even the other people in this room was also looking at him.

But then he realized that he was in the Emperor's office and he didn't knock even before he entered. His eyes widened for a moment before he bowed his head and spoke, trying his best to sound polite and formal as much as possible.

"I apologize for coming in without knocking, your highness. I was panicking and looking for the princess. The servants told me that they saw her come in here. My sincere apologies, I hope you will forgive me for my rude action," He said as he bowed. Well, Alexandra rushed out of her room without saying after all and just let him chase her.

"You don't have to apologize. Alexandra did the same thing after all," It was Sir Friyedor who responded and a light-hearted chuckle escaped his lips. Carlos raised his head and he met Alexandra's gaze, she just smiled at him and showed him a peace sign as a way of apologizing though it was quite informal but Carlos just nodded as a response before he made his way towards Alexandra's side.

"Sir Friyedor, it should be his highness that should respond, not you."

"Whatever you say, Gerhardt."

"Please stop calling me by my second name. Anyways, shouldn't we leave soon? The princess looks like she has something important to discuss with his highness. Our business here is done, anyway," Sir Louise said as he grabbed on Sir Friyedor's collar then he spoke once again. His eyes closed and his tone polite and respectful.

"We'll be taking our leave, your highness. If you still have something to ask or discuss with us, you can just call us after," Sir Louise said, still grabbing on Sir Friyedor's collar and they disappeared. As if they vanished into thin air. Alexandra just watched everything happened and she almost forgot the reason why she was here.

"So, Alexandra, as you were saying?" Her attention was grabbed by her father and she turned her head to look at him, a moment of silence surrounded them before she spoke.

"Right, I found this," She said and she went closer to the desk before placing the book that she was clutching earlier on top of it. Her father stared at it, curious and wondering what is the contents of the book that made Alexandra bring it to him. The cover has one word in it, Truth.

He picked it up, reluctant as his eyebrows furrowed. He observed its appearance. The appearance of the book tells him that it was old and it probably existed for like hundreds of years already. There was no name of the person who wrote this on the cover or the spine of the book. The book wasn't thick but rather it was thin, it's width was almost the same width as his pinkie finger.

Alexandra watched him and opened her mouth to speak once again, the serious look on her face remained and her voice was still cold which was quite rare since Alexandra was always seen as someone carefree, gentle, and cheerful and that made her father more curious.

"I would like you to read that book," Was what she said and her father looked at the back part of the book where there were a few words engraved on the bottom and he read it. His eyes widened as his gaze glided over those words and he finished. He stared at it and spoke, "Is this book a sealed book?"

Alexandra was quite taken aback by what he asked her. How did he know that? I didn't even tell him about it and just showed it to him, she thought to herself but she responded to him. "Yes, it is."

"Where did you find this?"

"In the library of the Wistalia Palace."

"How did you open or uncover it?"

"Blood, something pricked me and blood dripped down on like that activation key or hole or whatever you call that and it suddenly happened. The book floated, surrounded by magic circles."

The knight beside her was curious and confused but she just remained silent. The princess returned to her room with that book and rushed out to her father's office while holding that then showed it to him, I wonder what its contents might be, he thought inside his mind and resisted the urge to ask her about it. He'll probably know about it later and he can ask Alexandra about it, that is if she is willing to answer and respond honestly.

He also recalled that time when he entered her room because he heard a loud bang and saw the princess on the floor along with the chair. It was pretty embarrassing.

"Lysander, call my assistant," Her father suddenly ordered the knight beside him who just nodded as a response before he disappeared from their sight just like what the two Elders did earlier as they teleported. Alexandra was curious about why he has to call his assistant.

"Father, why do you have to call your assistant?"

Her father sighed before he responded, "This might be the book that we have been looking for years," Was what he said and he recalled that incident with the insane and mysterious wizard who managed to escape from their prison and was able to use dark magic.

The recollection of the memory felt like cards flashing in front of his eyes, images flashed by inside his mind as he recalled the lunatic.

-- "You! You're the emperor, the one who rules this land, right? You're a member of the Everly Bloodline, right? Along with your son and the daughter that you were hiding away from everyone!" He suddenly said and he stopped laughing but there was a grin on his face, a disturbing one. It showed all of his teeth and his eyes were buggy. That image and his face was the very epitome of disturbing and creepy.

-- "Ah! The existence of your daughter! It will be a great one, she possesses such powerful and destructive powers! Why are you hiding her?! She's the clear epitome of destruction and power. If we got her and the dark wizard on our side, we will win this war!" This was still a mystery for him and he doesn't know what kind of war he was talking about but he didn't investigate it any further thought he was steadily increasing the training of the knights and didn't reveal anything about it yet. The people who were there during that incident were asked to keep their mouth shut.

-- "10 years, no, less than 10 years from now! You must prepare!"

-- "Do you know why your bloodline only has males?"

-- "The truth that you seek will be found in this book," Those words were almost the same as the one written on the back part of the book, on the bottom area. He didn't open it yet so he was still not sure about it.

He snapped out of his daze when he heard someone call out to him and he saw Klaus along with Lysander standing near him with the desk separating them. Lysander then went back to his original position, standing beside the desk without saying anything.

"Your highness, you called for me?"

"Yes, I want you to take a look at this book and read it for me," Alexander said as he handed him the book and Klaus took a step closer to take it as one word slipped out of his mouth.

"Why?"

"This might be the book that we have been looking ever since that lunatic said that. Take a look at the back of the book, at the bottom part."

Klaus did what he was told to do and he read the words that were written on the bottom. Alexandra and Carlos just watched them with curious gazes. Klaus' usual nonchalant expression became a serious and curious one as his eyebrows furrowed. He opened the book and flipped it to its first page, reading what was written there.

His eyes widened and his hands held the book tighter.

"T-This—"
