Chapter 233 - Fluttering Feelings (5)

Their surroundings were bright thanks to their source of light, the sun that was shining down on them. Golden rays engulfed the place and on the vast open blue sky, clouds were slowly sailing pass by. Alexandra along with her two friends continued their usual tea party though Amanda was quite heartbroken because of the discussion or talk that she had with Harrison earlier which shattered her dreams.

"What are you going to do now?" Maribelle asked her, breaking the silence that surrounded them. Nobody dared to open their mouth to speak up until now. It was awkward, to be honest, they don't know what to say to each other. Amanda was sulking as she got rejected and was unsure on what to do, Maribelle was caught up with this situation and isn't used to this kind of thing, while Alexandra was somehow panicking inside and debating on what she should do and say.

Amanda let out a sigh before she responded. Her finger traced the rim of her empty teacup as she placed her cheek against her open palm.

"Well, I was rejected properly and he gave me a piece of advice on what I should do instead of running away and avoiding that engagement. I already told you about that. I think I'll just try to move on and forget the feelings," Amanda said. Alexandra crossed her legs as she took a bite from the cookie that she was holding.

She decided not to take a sip from her cup of tea because if she did so, she might not stop and she would end up emptying the whole teapot because she kept on refilling. The tea was sweet yet bitter and it helped her calm down.

"Y-You're going to do it?" Alexandra asked her, doubtful. I thought she would pursue and chase Harrison until he would agree, she thought to herself.

"Well, yeah. I mean, I still haven't met that guy anyways and was just thinking that I might don't like him because he is not Harrison or something like that. You see, when you fall in love with someone, you don't care about anyone aside from them. You only want them and only them. You're falling into an illusion that you can't love anyone aside from them. That even if they break your heart and tell you to go find someone other from them, you'll still find yourself falling in love with them over and over again. If hate is a sword, love is a destructive spell."

Amanda said, sadness lacing her tone of voice as she closed her eyes while she spoke, still tracing the rim of the cup and she let out a weary sigh in the end. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, leaning back against her seat and slouched.

She has a point, Alexandra said inside her mind though she didn't quite understand what her last sentence meant.

"That is true. You should try to learn more about that guy and check if he's suitable for you or not instead of just going crazy over one guy. There are still plenty of fishes in the sea. I'm sure you can hook a better one," Maribelle said as if she was trying to comfort her.

Amanda then looked at Alexandra's direction, opening her mouth to speak. "You're very lucky, princess," Amanda said once again making Alexandra furrow her eyebrows as there was a confused expression on her face. Her lips were pursed into a thin straight line before she decided to speak.

"You just said that earlier and what do you mean by that?"

"You don't have to understand or decipher my message. Just be thankful that you're lucky, you get to live such a wonderful life and such," Amanda smiled at her. I don't think I'm lucky though, I almost died like 2 or 3 times. Back then when I was a baby and a child. I have to pursue my brothers and father so that they won't hate me and we would get along back then (The five of us end up getting along pretty well afterward.)

Just think about how unlucky I am that even when those kidnappers back then weren't targeting or trying to kidnap a member of the royal family, she was still taken even though she was in a disguise. Aside from that, she just realized her feelings for Harrison after 9 years of being friends with him and she can't tell him about that because he might avoid her.

Well, sure, she's a princess, she lives in a palace and has all things that she wants. That might be fortunate and wonderful enough for Amanda.

"Anyways, we have to change our topic. I can't handle this, have you heard about the news of this son of a duke?" Maribelle said, quickly avoiding and changing their topic since it's making them more awkward and uncomfortable.

"What news?" Amanda turned her head to look at Maribelle's direction.

"I heard—"

--

Alexandra was making her way back to her room with Carlos following behind her as always. She let out a sigh, recalling what happened earlier. Amanda ends up taking Harrison's advice and they changed their topic. Amanda became active and she temporarily forgot about what happened that broke her heart though she still hasn't told her the reason why Harrison looked at her direction and pointed at her. She didn't ask her, that's why.

"Princess, you look tired."

"Yes, and I am planning on sleeping in my room. There are so many things happening nowadays and I need to take a break," Alexandra responded to what Carlos said as they walked. The sound of their footsteps pierced the silence as they made their way towards her room. As Alexandra was always busy, she rarely has a proper conversation with Carlos unless they are alone while going on their way back to her room or going somewhere.

"I see, it can't be helped. You should take a rest, princess," Carlos said and Alexandra just nodded as a response. They arrived in front of the door of her room and Carlos opened it for her, she entered inside without saying as she heard the sound of the door closing behind her. Realizing that there's no one aside from her here, she leaned against the door and slid down.

"Goddamn," She mumbled to herself as she slid down against the door. Crouching on the floor and hugging her knees. There's this feeling that was overwhelming her, rising to her chest and her throat, wanting to escape from her mouth. She wants to scream and she doesn't know the reason why.

Unbeknown to her, there was actually someone else inside the room who called out to her and grabbed her attention, startling her in the process.

"What's the matter? You looked stressed than me," It was a man's voice and it sounded familiar. She was able to recognize who that person was when she lifted her head and saw his face.

"What in the world, Harrison?! God, you startled me!"

"You took too long, I was waiting for you to arrive," Harrison said, he was found sitting on the couch that he always sits on every time that he comes in her room. The coat that he usually wears is hanging over the armrest of the couch and his legs were crossed. Alexandra immediately stood up from her position and fixed her dress. Thankfully, she didn't decide to scream earlier and just kept that feeling intact inside her, or else Harrison would witness it.

She made her way towards his direction, planning on sitting on the couch in front of him.

"What are you doing here? Are you going to talk about what happened earlier?" Alexandra asked him as she took a seat on the couch in front of him. The books that were scattered and always seen on top of the glass table that was placed in the middle, separating the two of them, weren't there. It was empty and clean. Alexandra finds that sight pleasant as sometimes when Harrison would be sitting on the floor, it was hard to see him as the books were blocking her view.

She tried to calm her heart that was beating fast and there was this tingling feeling inside her. I was planning on taking a rest and sleeping but now that he's here, I guess, I would do that later, she thought to herself as she waited for his response.

"Not really. It actually went well though I have to reject her or something. I can't do that kind of thing, that seems impossible and hard for me," He said as he combed his hair back, exposing his forehead for a moment and that made his hair look messier than it was before. Though it suits him, to be honest.

Stop being good-looking, she said inside her mind as she resisted the urge to say that to him.

"Then what are you doing here? As you can see, there are no cookies and such. It's just early in the afternoon, what about your duties and task as a palace wizard? Did you escape again?" She said.

"I'm on a break and I have something to tell you."

Anxiety overwhelmed Alexandra when she heard what he have said, his tone of voice sounded serious and the usual calm look on his face was replaced with a cold and stoic one. Alexandra gulped hard. Usually, people would start thinking of what the other person might say and if that person is the one that they like, they might think that they are going to confess.

But the atmosphere is way too serious for him to confess. Aside from that, Alexandra's head was empty.

Alexandra couldn't help but be nervous as her palm felt cold, she clenched the sides of her skirt as she blinked her eyes multiple times, staring at him. Her heart wouldn't calm down at all.

"W-What is it?" Alexandra stammered as she stared at him. Harrison looked at her for a few seconds before letting out a sigh and spoke as if he was reluctant and hesitating in telling her about this.

"I'm leaving tomorrow."
