'Bai Ye Qing, it's not about who you duped. It's about the company now. I have gotten my revenge. I just want you gone. I won't bring up what a nasty piece of work you are any longer, because the police can take care of that!'
"There is no way you can prove that," he scoffed.
"Just answer the question, Director Bai. I am not asking for your opinion. I am only looking for facts that will help the other board members decide on what to do with you," Qian Meng responded, all business. There was no trace of victory or amusement in her face, so people knew that she only wanted to point out what was truly wrong in this scenario.
"No. I did not squander away company time." He was resolute. He didn't think a new shareholder could get any information from this company and his subordinates weren't people who would talk out of turn. They knew who he was and what he could do. His father was the Chairman. That alone didn't allow them to speak unkindly of him. He was not scared of anyone tattling on him.
Qian Meng seemed to have been waiting for just this moment. "Mr. Speaker, might I submit proof against what Director Bai just said?" Qian Meng spoke slowly.
Bai Ye Qing's head whipped towards her direction. Proof? Was she kidding? What proof could she have on this matter? More time-stamped pictures? He could say they were tampered with. It's not like this was the court of law where they could verify either of the claims.
But Yun Qian Meng was the queen of the board, she knew how to play a room.
The speaker asked their assistant to do as Qian Meng asked.
Qian Meng handed the papers over.
"Can we project the first image on the screen," she asked softly. The first image was projected. "This is a declaration from one of the employees that they had Director Bai's identity tag which logs when employees come in and go out. He was the one punching in on behalf of Director Bai."
Bai Ye Qing's eyes hardened. He looked at the screen. It was a typed-out document with the company header. The location and name of the signer were left out.
"Who signed this? This can be falsified," he claimed.
"The privacy of the employees has been maintained as they do not want to be dismissed for saying the truth. It's a hard stance, so I have kept the originals with their names prepared for human resources. It will be handed over after the decision is made," she claimed.
"What a bunch of lies! Did you bribe them into signing this paper?" he asked.
She didn't even respond to the accusation. She asked the assistant to change the images and as it turned out, the employees rotated in this duty.
"As you can see, this was not an isolated incident. Everyone in his department seemed to know of his gross misdemeanor. But that is not the extent of his wrongdoings and taking advantage of company properties and identity," she announced.
People looked at each other in confusion. What other bomb was this Yun Qian Meng going to drop on them? They wanted to find out, but they also dreaded that their own names would be dragged into the question.
"Bullshit!" he hissed. He was still standing at the front of the room, but he was not the center of attention.
It was Bai Yu who broke the stalemate. "Miss Yun, go ahead. Please present to us that you have found," he announced. As the person with the highest authority, people couldn't contradict him. He had no voting rights, but if he wanted to see all sides for a fair trial, no one could say he was wrong.
It was a good move made by Mr. Bai to shut everyone up and let Qian Meng put on a show. It could either gain the trust of the shareholders or turn them against her.
He would have to sit by and watch as she played it out. He also wanted to see how she fared against these old and rotten foxes.
"I have to first say that I am not speaking for myself," Yun Qian Meng began. "I am speaking on behalf of all of you who have been losing money because of this issue." That statement seemed to stir some reaction from all factions of the shareholders and executives.
"I know some of you were frustrated by the extravagant spending from Director Bai since he took office." She looked at him blankly. "I also speak on behalf of those people who are dissatisfied with the lack of initiative on the part of Director Bai to look into the marketing issues and his constant pushing of subpar material as a cost-cutting method."
Qian Meng heard B1 sigh and press his hand on his forehead. He knew that he would get involved in this matter one way or the other. He didn't even look at Yun Qian Meng and stared off into the distance, a petulant look on his face.
"Okay, Yun Qian Meng. You need to stop saying that I aggressively do things!" Bai Ye Qing protested as she spoke.
"May I finish my speech?" she asked, her voice as calm as water, not even bothered by his interruption.
"No! If you're going to malign me—"
She started to speak over him. "As of this month—"
"Listen to me!" he interrupted, aggravated.
"As a board member, I have no confidence in Director Bai's ability to do his job and lead his team." Bai Ye Qing continued to ramble. "You can make your point after I have finished speaking. You are just appearing like a man who is not confident in himself right now," she warned.
That seemed to make him go silent. A strike at his ego was all it took.
"Considering the following, I have come to the conclusion that we should remove Director Bai from his position."
