"The company card was used at a high-end restaurant a month ago to pay a bill for Director Bai and a group of people he took with him. To ensure that this was not a business expense of a department dinner, we spoke to various employees and spoke to the restaurant. We found that none of those in the party that day were employees of this company." She looked at everyone in the room, holding their eyes. "This means that Director Bai was using company funds to pay for his habitual partying. This can be tallied with the expenses in a subsequent investigation."
There was a gasp and a groan.
"The board was recently misled by Director Bai on the port and docking fees of materials for the company. The contract signed with the privately owned dock was not revealed despite the eighteen-month negotiation for licensing with the other company. This was effective until recently when the finalized agreement was put before the board for a vote. The board was kept in the dark about the matter until that meeting, leading the members of the board to have no disclosure about the particulars of this contractual agreement."
Mr. Bai squeezed his eyes shut. He had been at the meeting himself, blindsided by what had happened. He hadn't thought particularly about it until Yun Qian Meng spoke in the meeting. If it had been Bai Ye Qing working hand in hand with one of the shareholders to put money into both their pockets, this was gross negligence of duty.
It would also mean that the board member in question, who was B1, would be put up for removal from the board and his shareholder rights stripped.
Bai Yu opened his eyes and looked at Yun Qian Meng. She must have found this out and started to plot the next steps even without mentioning it to him.
It was okay. He did not own this company any longer, but her foresight stunned him. She had thought of the steps to cull out all the rotten apples before Bai Ye Qing was dismissed. How much had she dug and what skeletons had she found to confidently show it off to the other shareholders?
"The shareholders were also kept in the dark about government bonds and contracts with transport agencies. Each truck of material cost the company thirty percent more than the market price. The issue was not raised by Director Bai in any of the executive or board meetings, neither was the cost and contractual changes shown in the accounting books."
Another head dropped and Qian Meng noticed that B2 was the next to look defeated in this case. He was a meeker man, so he didn't huff with indignation, but the accusing eyes of the other shareholders fell on these two people.
"And finally, there is the issue of ethics and accountability."
"Alright. Enough! You've said enough!" Bai Ye Qing yelled as she spoke. She didn't flinch or look away from the other people in the room. She didn't even care to acknowledge him. She continued to speak.
"There have been many accusations from employees of bad conduct and abusive intent towards both male and female employees."
"You will not talk about my ethics like it is for you to decide!" he said. His microphone was switched off, but everyone in the wide conference could hear him clearly.
Not one person spoke up in his defense any longer.
As she took up special instances that many of the employees had seen, Bai Ye Qing grew irritated.
"Excuse me. May I finish?" Qian Meng snapped. It was a calculated move.
"No!" he said immediately.
"If you think you can shut me up because you are interrupting me, you are wrong. I will speak until the end. If need be, I will send a recording of this speech to every shareholder here and let them decide what they want." Qian Meng gave him a warning look.
'Come, scream at me. Attack me!' she screamed internally. She wanted an outburst from him. Something that would ruin his chances completely. Not even those on his side for monetary purposes could stand up for him.
She continued on with the accusations.
Bai Ye Qing banged his fist on the table. "Stop. Fucking stop, you bitch."
She continued. Her speed increasing, but nothing hindering her collected and calm manner. And then she saw him from the corner of her eyes. He had left his post at the head of the table and he was coming towards her, his stance so aggressive that she should have been afraid.
"We are done with this. Fucking stop." He had pointed his finger towards her as he took threatening steps. "You're fucking out of your mind!" he yelled.
People wheeled away from him, trying to get away from his path of fury. Qian Meng hid her amusement and continued to read. But the board members were more entertained and scared by the look of pure hatred on his face.
One would call it murderous.
Qian Meng saw him raise a glass of water and he threw it. At full force. Towards her.
Maybe it was Mo Qingchen's training, or maybe the survival instincts sneaked in, but she ducked. The glass shattered on the carpeted floor, leaving wetness and glass shards everywhere. Qian Meng stared, and she gritted her teeth.
There was silence. Not even Bai Ye Qing moved.
B1 stood up abruptly from beside Yun Qian Meng, collecting his things and never looking at the others in the room.
"What a pity you missed. I should have sued you for all your money. Alas, I love my life better." She said nonchalantly. "I ask the other shareholders to reflect on what Director Bai just did and vote to terminate him from the company immediately," she said with finality in her voice.
Qian Meng almost couldn't believe the claps that surrounded her.
"You're a liar and a disgrace!" Bai Ye Qing said, his hand slamming on the desk right beside her papers. She looked up at him solemnly. "You think you can prove all of that? Because none of it is true," he claimed.
