“Director Jun.”

Noticing Jun Ye approaching with a Beta who looked like a student, the balding Alpha quickly shut off his communication device and greeted them warmly, his demeanor very respectful.

The Alpha’s keen sense of smell had detected Jun Ye the moment he emerged from the exclusive passage. That uniquely rich and elegant scent belonged solely to Jun Ye in the entire alliance.

Seeing the chaos in the room, the Alpha felt a few more hairs fall out, but luckily Jun Ye was busy chatting with the pretty boy by his side and paid him no mind. Taking advantage of this, the Alpha’s leadership skills kicked in, and he quickly brought the situation under control.

Now, the mechs were lined up neatly, ready for Jun Ye’s inspection. He prided himself on being quite the clever operator.

“Yes.” Jun Ye nodded and introduced Fei Xiu to him. “This is my assistant and head of the R&D department. He graduated from the First University of the Prime Star. His R&D1Research and developement! skills aren’t top-notch, but he’s great at writing reports.”

“It’s an honor to have Director Jun’s appreciation.” The Alpha modestly brushed his thinning hair aside, seemingly unfazed by the criticism of his professional skills. As an alliance plant2It means that he is just “posing” as the head researcher in charge of all the research and all that, but in truth, Jun Ye is the one who takes care of that aspect, he just doesn’t want to deal with the public/alliance/others, his primary job was indeed writing reports.

The R&D head subtly sized up Fei Xiu.

Wow, look at those muscles, that waistline, that handsome face—also a junior from his alma mater. This must be the third one, right? He wondered if the alliance would be interested in yet another report on Jun Ye’s new fling.

Fei Xiu was also scrutinizing the Alpha, regarding every Alpha around Jun Ye with the wariness of a rival.

His gaze moved from the Alpha’s weak-looking body to his average face and then to his suspiciously shiny bald spot. Fei Xiu smiled friendly, mentally lowering his alert level towards this Alpha to the minimum.

If only all the Alphas around his Omega were as non-threatening.

Jun Ye continued, “This is Xiao Xiu, the top graduate of the 115th class in the Mecha Department of First University of the Prime Star, my lover.”

The last three words made the Alpha head’s face stiffen for a moment. Lover? Not just a fling?

The R&D head quickly recovered, extending his hand to Fei Xiu with a smile, “Nice to meet you…”

Fei Xiu, having a good impression of this assistant, granted him the opportunity of a handshake. After all, his hand had been held by his Omega and he didn’t let just anyone touch it easily.

After the pleasantries, Jun Ye turned to Fei Xiu and asked, “Take a look, which type of mech do you like? Pick any.”

The Alpha head silently gasped. Was it no longer fashionable for Omegas to give houses and flying vehicles to their kept men? Giving away mechs was outrageously extravagant—he wished he could be a kept man too.

Fei Xiu knew the Omega wanted to equip him with a mech, so he got serious and prepared to examine each one closely.

The R&D head noticed that Director Jun was obviously different with this lover. Common sense told him he should immediately follow and offer explanations to win Director Jun’s favor. But another part of him resisted, feeling he was more attractive than this pretty boy. Why didn’t Director Jun keep him? After all, he could write reports!

In the two seconds of his hesitation, Jun Ye had already followed Fei Xiu, holding his hand and explaining each mech in detail, from their functions to special applications, missing nothing.

The R&D head sighed internally. He had underestimated this little Beta student’s abilities. Clearly, with Jun Ye so attentive, his own explanations were unnecessary.

Realizing he missed his chance to join in, the R&D head looked forlornly at the two immersed in their own world. He turned his attention to the lower-level employees, hoping to regain some ground in his own domain.

Sweeping his gaze over the employees and finding no errors to correct, the Alpha head resolutely picked up an empty energy oil barrel and walked decisively towards the outer mech zone.

In the transport area, the young employees were fortunate to witness their eccentric R&D head carrying an empty energy oil barrel, striding determinedly into a transport mech.

Fei Xiu stopped by the foot of a towering mech, looking up in awe, “Is this a giant mech capable of solo space combat?”

Giant?

Jun Ye glanced at it, thinking it was rather small. But the alliance wouldn’t really let him bring out a mech capable of threatening the Prime Star. This one would do for a little test.

Seeing Fei Xiu’s fascination, Jun Ye leaned in and whispered in his ear, “Want to go to space?”

Fei Xiu, almost reacting to the Omega’s warm breath and low voice, felt his ears heat up. He steadied himself, holding onto the Omega’s arm, and nodded slightly.

Jun Ye contacted the R&D head: “Begin space testing. Prepare to launch the mech.”

The R&D head, having just pulled out an energy barrel from the transport mech, noted that H17 always disguised itself as a combat mech to leech energy. He had usually turned a blind eye, but today it was caught.

Just a regular transport mech hoarding so much energy oil—it didn’t need to output that much.

After a mental complaint, he heard Director Jun’s command through his communicator.

The R&D head, not taking it seriously, saved Director Jun’s voice, as usual, storing and backing it up thoroughly. He had reported the space test to the alliance long ago, and the mech could launch at any time.

Then, he heard that melodious voice again through the communicator, “Xiao Xiu and I will pilot one mech together. Follow the original plan for the others.”

The R&D head: “?!”

He rubbed his ears, doubting what he heard. An Omega was too precious; how could the alliance allow one to pilot a mech into space?!

Even though this Omega had lost a husband, cycled through three lovers, and had no children over fifteen years, he was rich, skilled in mechs, and exceptionally attractive with a captivating voice. Any accident would be a significant loss to humanity!

The R&D head quickly used his report-writing skills, producing a persuasive, heartfelt, and intricately worded petition, which he sent to Jun Ye’s terminal within three minutes.

A work-related notification popped up, and Jun Ye instinctively opened it, the screen filled with elaborate cursive script.

Fei Xiu glanced at it, catching a line praising the Omega’s appearance, setting off his internal alarm.

As he tried to read more, the Omega exited the message.

Fei Xiu, feeling possessive, half-embraced the Omega’s waist, casually asking, “Who sent that just now? One of my rivals? I’m not jealous, just curious about what kind of Alpha uses such fancy fonts.”

Jun Ye openly showed his private chat with the R&D head, rejecting the petition while answering Fei Xiu, “It’s him, the one good at writing reports.”

“The middle-aged Alpha with the average face and bald spot?” Fei Xiu couldn’t believe it. That insignificant Alpha was a rival?

Jun Ye paused before kindly explaining, “The R&D head isn’t as old as you think. He’s just three years senior to you, barely in his twenties.”

Fei Xiu: “?!”

Alright, some people just age faster…

“Do you like him?” Fei Xiu felt silly asking. His Omega wasn’t picky, but only about him, right? When did random people get a chance?

“Of course, he can’t compare to you,” Jun Ye said, squeezing Fei Xiu’s hand. “The mech technology from ‘Lindsay’ seems too advanced for this world. The alliance and I need a mediator.”

“Before this R&D head, there were other R&D personnel, security guards, errand runners… None could ease the tension between the alliance and me. But this ‘R&D head,’ with his endless antics, made the alliance think a clown was the key to mediation.”

“So, you don’t like him,” Fei Xiu concluded.

He then muttered, “Wait, are you saying this average-faced guy is like a lubricant between you and the alliance? Do you want to take on the alliance?”

Jun Ye sighed, “I only want you…”

Fei Xiu blushed, holding Jun Ye’s hand softly, his voice gentle, “I’m yours, anytime you want…”

While they were setting up their evening plans, the R&D head, unable to stop the Omega from launching, grudgingly prepared the mechs.

Ten minutes later, the mechs returned to the hangar, and the test mech was ready.

Jun Ye’s terminal beeped, signaling the mech’s control key was successfully recorded.

The ground in front of him split open, revealing a deep tunnel. A towering mech rose from below.

“……”

Jun Ye looked at the so-called “combat mech” expressionlessly, wishing to drag the clueless R&D head out for a beating.

Fei Xiu, in his mech pilot suit, nervously clutched Jun Ye’s pinky, holding his breath as the imposing mech knelt before them. He was successfully impressed, his voice trembling with excitement, “Is this really going to space?”

Changing mechs now would cause a commotion, and seeing his partner’s anticipation… Jun Ye gritted his teeth and accepted it.

The mech’s chest cockpit opened, and all pilots were transported inside, the hatch closing behind them.

Jun Ye first seated Fei Xiu in the copilot’s seat. Once seated, Jun Ye activated the control panel.

First, he securely fastened Fei Xiu’s space-grade seatbelt. Second, he used the highest authority to rename the mech.

——Are you sure you want to rename “H17” to “Combat Mech Series 1”?

【Yes】

——Renamed successfully.

【Beep—Combat Mech Series 1 at your service.】

Jun Ye then adjusted Fei Xiu’s visual access to the control panel and turned to him, asking gently, “Are you ready?”

“Yes!” Fei Xiu, fascinated by the new control panel, nodded enthusiastically.

Jun Ye: “Take off.”

That head researcher is a bit annoying but honestly? Same, i’d like to be kept by someone like Jun Ye too lmao
