Chapter 203 - Unless It Was You

Lisa walkout from the building and saw that the man from last weekend was leaning behind his boss's car. "What are you doing here?" Lisa asks while crossing her arm around her chest.

If she's not wrong, she didn't tell him where she worked at.

Brian smiles at her and opens the car door for her. "Please, get inside, princess." He bows his head a little and waits for Lisa to get inside the car.

Lisa did not budge as she still looking at the man. "I'm not going inside until you tell me how did you know I work here."

Seeing that Lisa serious, he straightened up. "Actually, I don't. But then, this morning, while I dropped my boss in this area, I saw you walk to this building in a hurry. So, I figure that you worked here." He still smiles at her.

Well, half of his story is right that he saw her this morning after sending Caitlin at the library as she had a group activity there. And the truth is, he already knows where she worked at. Every detail of her already in his hand.

Lisa scrunched her eyebrow for a moment before she looks at her wristwatch. "I had limited time for lunch, so, how about there?" She's pointing her finger to the opposite building. It's a mall and had a lot of options for lunch.

To not exposing his identity, he agrees with her. He took his spare glasses and put it on before he ruffles his hair a bit. Well, at least he doesn't have to look like a president, right?

Lucky that he didn't go to his office today and only wearing casual clothes. So he can still hide his appearance from the onlookers. "Okay, let's go." he lock his car and walk with Lisa to the opposite building.

Knock knock!

Lisa was just finish bathing and still drying her hair when someone knocked on her house door. Without much thinking, she opens the door, and Henry smile at her.

"Hey, Lis.." He went inside and put down a paper bag on the kitchen counter. His daughter also with him.

"Hey, Henry and Lana.." She smiled and took the little girl to carry in her arm. "Aw…you already big, huh? How old are you?" She played with the little girl while glancing at the man who still in her kitchen.

"I'm three and half.," Lana reply and show Lisa her three-finger. Giggling, Lisa took all of her fingers and kissed it. "Where's your mommy?"

Henry flinched a bit, and Lana shrugged her shoulder. "Mommy and Daddy-"

"Lana..come here, eat your dinner," Henry calls his daughter, and Lana immediately runs to the kitchen, leaving Lisa dumbfounded.

She slowly stood up and went to the kitchen as well. "Hmm…fight?" she guessed while propping her head with her hand on the kitchen counter.

She looked at the man who tries to make himself busy by preparing their dinner. No wonder he's here with only Lana. But why they fight? They were pretty much a happy couple.

"Don't ask. I'm here as your buddy today, and I would like to know why my brother becomes slime after meeting you this afternoon?" Henry put down a plate in front of Lisa. He then took a seat at the opposite of those two girls.

"He becomes slime?" Lisa asked. Clearly, she was surprised, and her heart got a little pang inside.

Nodded, Henry said again. "Did you both fight? I never saw him like that. Something must've happened between you two, right?"

Lisa sighs and sips her drink. "I..I got accepted at NASA's HQ." she started, and Henry's eyes turn wider.

"What? Congratulations." He said and patting gently on Lisa's back. He's happy for her. He knew it was her dream to be joining NASA's group.

And after a moment, he turns silent. "So that's why Harry was so upset about? He unwilling to let you go?" Henry took a guess where Lisa nodded her head and pouted.

"He said it was too sudden and he can't live without me. If he thinks so, then why isn't he realize it already? Urgh.." She grunts and forked her noodles from the plate.

Henry agrees with her. "Well, I wonder the same too. But, why aren't you the one who said it first? Since you'll be going, why not you just said it to his face and made him realize it by himself?"

Lisa put down her fork and look at Henry's face. "I can't. What if…it become worsen? I mean, he always thought me as his best friend and if I said it to him that I had a feeling for him, isn't he will feel that I'm…betraying our friendship? I can't.. after all, he's back with Sophie."

Henry frowned at her last word. "Sophie? Since when did he back with that girl? I never heard of it." Yeah, if anything, Harry will tell him, and what's this about Sophie?

Lisa's sighing again. "I..I heard him last week, having…uhm..you know, intimate session with Sophie, and it hurt me deeply, Henry. I don't think I can keep guard this wall forever. My heart is not made of steel." She said while her tears start forming on her eyes. It's hard to forget that night. It keeps repeating in her mind over and over, and each time, she got hurt inside.

Henry bit his bottom lips. Somehow, he got a gist of what is happening and why Harry was so furious at that time. "Did he..know it?"

Lisa shakes her head. "He didn't know, and I don't care anymore. I'm moving on. I can't keep hoping that one day he'll fall in love with me, right? I'm not getting younger. One day, he'll found someone who he deeply loves with and that girl probably not me." She wipes her tears before she chuckles and continues to eat.

"I believe he won't find any woman as his spouse unless it was you." Henry caresses on her arm before he also eats his dinner. It messes up because of his wife's stupid decision, and it impacts them both massively.

Two more weeks before Lisa finally move to Washington, D.C. She already arranges all of her items and finds a new place for her in a new city.

In these two weeks also, she barely speaks with Harry, and their relationship becomes worse. Each time she tries to find Harry at around his lunch hour, Brian will ask her out, and when its dinner, Brian also will invite her out.

Well, she always rejects his invitation. But then, she always ends up going when he continues to persuade her and threaten her that he will wait at the outside of her workplace or her apartment building.

Because she doesn't want Harry to know about this guy, she accepts his invitation and goes far from her neighborhood. Well, for her, it only for a few more days until she moves to another place.

She hopes that Brian will forget about her. She doesn't intend to start a relationship when she was about to move to another city. After all, her heart is still with Harry. She missed him badly, and her work isn't productive, either lately.

While she was staring at the computer screen blankly, suddenly, her office door was knocked by someone from the outside. It's her assistant. She looks a bit anxious.

"Erm, Miss Lisa. These gentlemen here are from the 'Cleaning Unit.' Regarding the X-Gen studies, it was classified as a dangerous experiment and was rejected by half of the speaker." She said in a hurry, and Lisa scrunched her eyebrow.

She hasn't heard of this from Harry or Henry at all. The three of them conducted this experiment and were still in the process of getting it to approve from the government. It's not a harm experiment. It was for future advancement. Especially it can cure the babies and much more pregnant lady with a serious illness so that they can deliver the baby without much problem.

"I didn't hear any of this from Mr. Harry or Mr. Henry." She said and ready to dial Harry's office.

"Mr. Harry and Mr. Henry are not in their room, Miss Lisa. They both were still at the hall trying to explain this, but it turns out bad. So, they are sent here to dispose of each of our experiments regarding the X-Gen." Her assistant explains, and Lisa looks at five men who all are wearing a special suit.

"Let me call him first." Lisa took out her phone and dialed Harry's number.

"Harry-"

"Let them do the cleaning. It's okay now. I'm on my way back. '" He said, and Lisa sighs before she nods her head to her assistant. All of the men got their permission to dispose of all of the studies regarding the X-Gen.
