Chapter 204 - Had To Lie To Her

"Lisa, you're okay? They didn't hurt you, right?" Harry immediately hugs her before he checks on her body. He is worried that the cleaning service guy did something to her.

Lisa shakes her head and scrunched her eyebrow after that. 'Did he just call my name and not my nickname?' She doesn't know, but it sounded a bit distant and weird as he always calls her with her 'sweet' nickname.

Try to focus on the issues right now; she then asked, "What happen? Why they suddenly interrupt my research?"

Henry, who just arrives at Lisa's section, then signals to them to walk back to Lisa's office, with two of them following him from behind. "Well, half of the hall questioning your research. They said..it's violated human's right."

Lisa frowned. "Violating human rights? I try to save a human life here, not killing them." She's a bit frustrated with how they see her work is.

"We know. But.." Henry stops his word before he sighs and continues. "L Corp president questioned our method by generating new genes that can help to improve the brain functionality of the subject. He said it would..create a massive threat to the world and the country if we couldn't containment it from fall to the wrong hands."

"What? Is he an idiot? He just wants to make a machine and let the world one day too rely on the machine." Lisa snapped.

Harry crossed both of his hands around his chest. "Well, that can be a reason too. Since he just launches a new weapon to Mr. president, so of course, he doesn't want someone to surpass him in this matter. When he started to question that, half of the hall already objecting it."

"We have to obey the President's order." Henry shrugged his shoulder.

Lisa sighs and shakes her head. "You know what, they can take my research, but I already have created it, and I remember every step of that process." She went to her desk and took out three bottles of solution.

Henry's eyes widen a bit. "Lisa, this is dangerous. If they know.."

"Oh, don't worry..no one knows. I did it two weeks ago." She said and gave it to each of them one bottle.

"Well, even though they already 'clean' all of my research, at least, we got something to remember it. Just help me to hide it for a temporary, okay? It still hasn't been tested yet."

Both Harry and Henry look at each other before they look at her. "You've done all the process?"

Lisa nodded. "But it still not tested yet. My guts are telling me it'll work. So don't worry." She smiles, and both of them could not say no to her. They took the bottle and placed it in their pocket.

"Well, I guess I still had a few things to do in my office. I leave you both now." Henry takes his leave and leaves Lisa and Harry alone. They need to fix their relationship.

When Henry's gone, Harry also wants to take his leave but was stopped by Lisa, who suddenly hugs him from behind. "Hey..I'm..I'm sorry." She said.

Exhales, Harry turns his body around and embrace her. "I'm sorry too. I didn't realize that I was so overbearing."

Lisa smiles and inhales his perfume, which always calms her. "So…can you accept the fact that I'm moving to another city now?"

Harry nods her head. "It's okay..it just three-hour drive from here. I think I can manage that."

Lisa chuckles and nods her head as well. "Yeah..visit me anytime."

"Have you found a place yet?"

"Hmm..near the workplace. Don't worry. I'm a big girl now."

"Yeah..you're a big girl, and you don't need me anymore."

Lisa wryly smiles. 'I need you, Harry. I need you in my life as my life support and my pillar. But you don't feel the same as me. You thought of me like your 'daughter.''

"Are you sure you're okay here?" Harry looks around her new apartment. Much smaller than what he gives her in New York.

"Yeah..don't worry about it. I think it comfortable and cozy with just me alone." She chuckles and reaches his hand to sit on the couch.

"I can find you a-"

"No..please..we agree on that, don't we?" Lisa reminds him, and he sighs at the end.

"Then, do your bed enough for us? I think its a bit smaller, though."

Lisa's heart quickens a bit, and she then averts her eyes to the outside of the window for a second before she says. "Well, about that..whenever you came here, you can always sleep on the couch."

In an instant, Harry looks at her while cupping her face. "Why?" He stops and changes his question, "I mean, we always sleep on the same bed. Are you…seeing someone right now?"

Lisa gulped. Well, not really, actually, but Brian keeps insisting on meeting her and always treat her in a particular way. It's not the reason why she didn't want to sleep with him. It just, she want Harry to realize his feeling soon.

But, he still dumb, huh?

"Mm..well, I kinda met someone. That guy nice to me." 'Maybe I can ignite his jealousy?'

"Who?"

"Remember..the man who you called 'vampire' ?"

Harry sighs heavily and shakes his head. "B…you're not serious, right?" Somehow, he feels like he wants to know who this vampire who dare to snatch his beloved girl.

Lisa shrugged her shoulder. "Well, I mean..we're in a special relationship."

"Special relationship? Then, what am I to you now? Have I degrade below than this man?" Harry blows up, and he feels like he can't stay there anymore. He took his coat and his phone on the table.

"D, where are you going?" Lisa asked when she saw Harry suddenly pick up his thing.

"I'm going home, B. You can enjoy your night with that 'vampire' guy. Clearly, you don't even need me here. I'm just an extra for you." He said and walked out of her apartment building.

Lisa chocked on his word, surprised. It's not like a reaction that she expects from him, and Harry seems more sensitive these days. He can't even take a joke like that. Of course, Harry is not an extra. He's the only one she loves.

She went to the front door. "D…" She calls him, but he was long gone. When she opened the door, she was shocked to see Brian at the front of her door.

"Brian?" She frowned and looked around the hallway. There's no figure of Harry at all.

"Hi. You happy to see me here?"

Lisa look at the man, "Why are you here? How do you know I live here?" Yup, she doesn't even tell him where she moved.

"Oh, um…actually, I live in this city. I often travel between here, Seattle, and New York. My family too live here. Do you want to meet them in your free time?" He casually asked and invited himself in before Lisa could say anything.

"You live here?" She asked. Shocked because she thought she already leave him behind, and she doesn't want to have anything with him anymore. But who would've thought that he is living in this city too?

"Yeah...I had a few other places too." He said and went to her kitchen. Take out a dinner he bought from the paper bag.

"Other place? Who are you exactly?" Lisa asked. She feels like there's something weird with this man.

Brian startled with her question. He scrutinizes her expression before he said. "I'm just Brian. My boss always travels, so I have to follow him anywhere he goes, and because of that, he gave me a few places, so it'll be a convenience for me."

He had to lie to her as he is still not ready to reveal his true identity to her yet.

Lisa felt a bit of relief. "Oh.." Well, at least his reason is valid to her.
