Chapter 245 - Love Is Subjective

Kissed on her cheek, he whispers to her. "I'll see you again on our engagement day."

Caitlin glared at him, and he moves to the door. But before he opens the door, he turns to look at her again. "I wonder…what did you two talk about yesterday? You said that you don't love me anymore, but you even went to my home and caught my daughter's heart. Why's that?"

Scoffs, Caitlin rolled her eyes. "You really want to know? Actually, your daughter advised me not to marry you. We have the same thinking. You're the delusional guy here. Are you satisfied with the answer now?"

Brian smirk a bit before he left the room. When he walks in the hallway, he's thinking of what Caitlin said earlier. Did Lily really say something like that?

It's not like his daughter's character to say something like that. ' Or does she really against me remarry again?' He sighs heavily and decides to go to his house after this. Maybe he can talk again with his daughter about this and persuade her to accept Caitlin.

About what Caitlin said earlier also hurt him a little. Did she really not love him anymore? Is there really no second chance for them? He wants to ask Luna about this, but her phone cannot get reach at this moment. He wonders what's she doing right now.

The engagement day is also just in another three weeks from now. Scratch his head; he grunts a bit. "Argh…just go along with the flow. You'll be fine."

When Brian already left, Caitlin heave in relief. She then took off her robe and went back to bed. She needs sleep, and it's so early in the morning when that guy comes in.

She wonders, at what hour that he took his flight to comes here? It at least takes 6 hours flight from Washington DC to Seattle. Pat on her cheek, she said, "Forget it, Caitlin..don't mind him. You did not love him anymore."

Pull the comforter to her chest, she said again. "Yeah...I don't love him anymore." She closes her eyes and tries to sleep again.

Lily walked to the dining room and saw there are a few maids who are in a hurry getting ready and line up. Usually, when her father at home, the maids are frantically clean up the house like there's a king who will be coming to their house.

If her father's not at home, she already told them to clean up only when necessary so that they'll relax a bit. So, when she saw the maids look busy, she already knows that her father comes back home. She wonders as to why he suddenly returns home when he still had a lot of work at his office.

"Good morning, princess," Brian said with a bright smile on his face. Seeing her father, she smile and hug him a little. Of course, she misses him too.

"Morning, daddy." Lily moves to her seat, and not long after, Alex also arrives at the dining hall. He looks happy to see their daddy.

"Morning, daddy! When did you arrive?" He hugs him before he went to his seat, opposite Lily.

"Morning, champ. I just arrive a few minutes before you guys come down. How are you two doing? I'm sorry I always busy and had little time with you two." Brian said, while looking a bit guilty to both of them. He really wants to spend more time with them. However, he still had many things to settle down first at the White House and his company. Not to mention his engagement party that takes place in New York City soon. So, yeah...he's swamped.

"We're okay. You don't have to worry about us, daddy." Alex replies while looking at the blueberry pie on the plate. It really looks delicious, and he licks his lips a bit. Their chef, who cooks for them, is really in Alex's favorite list. He even intends to learn how to cook from him.

Looking at the boy, Lily rolled her eyes and scooped the edge of the pie before she eats it. She didn't talk much as only Alex and their father, who do the talking.

"So, Lily, I heard that Miss Caitlin was visiting you yesterday. How is she? In your opinion." Brian wipes his lips with a napkin. He thinks that it's a good time to ask his daughter about Caitlin.

"She's a fine woman," Lily replies it short.

"I know, right. So, um..do you think Miss Caitlin can be a good mother to you?" he turns to his daughter. He is observing her expression.

"She'll be a good mother one day. But, daddy…" She put down her spoon and turn to her father. "Do you really love her?"

Chuckles, Brian, caress her hair a bit. "Of course, I love her."

'Liar!'

Lily averted her eyes back to her plate. Thinking of a way to tell her father without look like it too apparent for her. "But, daddy, you said you love my real mother, and you also love mama. So, who you actually love? Or…is it just a 'word' that the adult used to everyone?"

Her question caught Brian off guard. Not only him, but Jamal and the steward of the house also shocked hearing the young lady Lily said something like that. On top of that, she shows her innocent face when she asks that question.

"Mm.." Brian squinted his eyes a bit. Thinking of the right word for her daughter. "Well, love is subjective. It defines various meanings behind the word. Such as, you love Alex, but your love toward Alex is only sisterly and brotherly. Not more than that. So, that's what happens to me too."

Lily still listens to his father's explanation. Even though she very much knows about it already.

"Like me, I love your mother. I really love her. But, she's no longer here with us. So, I'll continually love her in my heart."

'If only you can see who's my mother really love is..I feel bad for you, daddy. You think mother loves you, but the truth is, she didn't.'

"And I love your mama too. But, I love her as a friend and as your mama. She's been with me for the longest time than when I'm with your birth mother. She helps me with so many works to raise you, and I'm grateful for that."

Alex sighed in relief when Brian said that he loves mama as just as a friend. Well, if not, it's hard for him too. He likes Brian, but he still can't beat his birth father. And his mother also loves his father. So, their feelings are mutual.

"Then about Miss Caitlin," Brian stop his sentence. 'What did I like about her?'

"It's okay...I don't want to hear it anymore." Lily said while Brian still thinking, she then sips her milk and gets down from her chair. Ready to leave to study room for her study session.

"Princess.." Brian tries to call out Lily, but she already went to her study room. Looking at Alex, he shrugged his shoulder. He also doesn't know what happens to her as to why she really against her daddy's engagement.

"So, Alex…what do you think about it?"

"Hm?" Alex shows him a blank expression.

"I mean, are you okay if I marry this Miss Caitlin?"

'Ah~ about that, huh?'

"Of course! She's beautiful. Right, Uncle Jay?" Alex turns to look at Jamal, who silently listens to their conversation.

Jamal nods his head. He agrees with Alex. She's beautiful and fun to talk too. Really his type, but, unfortunately, she's going to be the madam of this house soon.

"So, you're on my team, aren't you?" He gives Alex a fist bump.

"I got your back, daddy." He giggles and bumps his fist with Brian.

'As long as you didn't interrupt my papa ship.' He smiles, inwardly.
