C39 – Try to Roast an Ant!
The Fiery-eyed Lion burst into laughter, bellowing, “You’re digging your own grave? Hahaha, what a fastidious little ant you are, going to the trouble of preparing a grave like a human when you’re on the brink of death? Haha, how utterly absurd!”
Absurd?
Lee Tian glanced at the Fiery-eyed Lion and thought to himself: Just wait, you’ll soon find out who that grave is really for.
Lee Tian had loosened the soil by now, ready to start digging the pit.
He had created a safe zone impervious to the flames, but the intense heat from the firestorm raging beyond was scorching.
If he remained exposed to this heat for too long, he’d be charred to a crisp.
So he needed to finish digging that pit quickly, or his death was certain.
The Fiery-eyed Lion might be able to breathe fire, but it wasn’t immune to it. If it got too close to the inferno, it would get burned just the same.
It’s like a hitman fearing the blade he wields.
Thus, the lion paced just outside the blaze, hesitant to charge in and seize Lee Tian.
Sensing mockery from the Scarface Swordtooth Tiger for its hesitation near the flames, the Fiery-eyed Lion’s face soured.
Perched in the treetop, Green watched the scene unfold, eyes glistening with moisture. “It’s all over. Mr. Tian has been consumed by the fire. He’s truly gone this time.”
Overcome with grief, tears welled up in Green’s eyes.
Eventually, the flames subsided.
The Fiery-eyed Lion and the Scarface Swordtooth Tiger strode through the charred remains of the fireground, heading to the spot where Lee Tian had been digging.
Confronted with the vast pit, both the lion and the tiger appeared bewildered.
Was the pit empty?
It seemed this pit was more than just a simple hole; it had become a cavern.
“Check it out!” commanded the Fiery-eyed Lion, sending the Scarface Swordtooth Tiger down to see if Lee Tian was inside.
The Scarface Swordtooth Tiger shrank back, clearly resistant to the idea.
But with one intimidating glare from the Fiery-eyed Lion, the Scarface Swordtooth Tiger caved in. Reluctantly, it edged its head into the depths of the pit.
