CHAPTER 454

Leading her to the long couch in the living room, Liu Xueyi helped her relax and took a sit beside her.

Andromeda's heart raced where she sat, her mind overwhelmed with the weight of the truth she was about to reveal to Liu Xueyi.

So many thoughts spiralled in her mind and she wondered which and what truth she was going to inform him about—her kidnapping or the fact that he was not yet a father?

Tired about the whole problems, she decided to resolve the situation herself and bring the culprits to their knees.

It had only taken her one night—sacrificed that one night for the truth and from her little adventure, she found out more things than planned, bringing all the pieces together.

"I was scared, Andy. I called Peng Xiaoli and Jian Xiaofei but they all had the same words; you had left after them from work. So, what happened?"

Andromeda looked into his eyes, seeing both concern and confusion etched upon his face.

It was time to confront the deception that had plagued their lives, which all began with a trip to the hospital but that thought alone, made her teary-eyed.

Sensing the overwhelming feeling about to engulf her, fear gripped Liu Xueyi's heart at the sight of those tears.

Still, he kept a calm expression, masking his feelings and gently took her hand in his, offering her reassurance with his touch.

"Andromeda," he began softly, "please tell me what has happened. I want to understand why your phone was unreachable, and why you're so upset."

The tears further welled up in Andromeda's eyes, threatening to spill over. Instead of answering, she leaned onto his side, her hand gently on his chest as she sought solace in the warmth of Liu Xueyi's chest.

"My, my, Andy," Liu Xueyi whispered, enveloping her in his strong protective arms while gently patting her back in a soothing rhythm.

"Andy know this, no matter what happened, I would never be angry with you and always forgive you.

Andromeda's voice trembled as she corrected him, her words muffled against his chest. "I'm not angry or sad nor did I do any wrong other than worrying you," she said, her voice barely audible.

"Okay?"

"Yes. I'm just... happy, and at the same time, I feel immense sadness for what has transpired."

Confusion etched across Liu Xueyi's face as he pulled away slightly, looking into her eyes.

Deep furrows formed on his brow as he sought clarity from her. "Andromeda," he said, his voice filled with concern, "please, help me understand."

Andromeda's voice dropped to a low whisper while keeping her head low against his chest. As she broke the silence, her words hung heavy in the air. "First of all, I have found the culprits responsible for ruining my designs."

"That is good news. Why are you sad about that? Wait, do you know the people on a deeper level? Is that why you are sad?"

Andromeda shook her head, dismissing his speculations. "Not at all. I do know the people but not on a deeper level."

"So?"

"I staged my kidnapping."

"You what?!"

~The Liu Residence~

Seated in the comfort of her reading chair, Liu Xiao Xin meticulously sifted through the files that had been sent to her.

Dressed in a loose-fitting knitted milk sweatshirt and blue shorts, she rubbed her palms together while intently assessing the evidence before her, connecting the dots to unveil the truth.

Her gaze remained fixed on the screen; the room illuminated by its soft glow.

Just as she delved deeper into her investigation, her tranquillity was shattered by the sudden intrusion of her phone's ringtone, jolting her from her concentration.

"Oh my...who could it be?" Liu Xiao Xin muttered under her breath, the expletives on the tip of her tongue quickly swallowed when her eyes landed on the caller's name.

"Ma Yi," she half exclaimed, quickly answering the call and anxiously awaiting her response before speaking.

"Ms. Liu, it is just as you suspected," Ma Yi's voice crackled through the phone. "So far, Zheng Ying's housing and other expenses have been taken care of by Ms. Gao since her arrival in the country. What's more, her son's hospital bills have been..."

"Wait, hold on, give me a recap," Liu Xiao Xin interrupted, shaking her head as if Ma Yi could see her. "What are you referring to?"

"Her fees have..."

"No, not that one," Liu Xiao Xin corrected, her voice tinged with urgency. "The hospital bill for her son."

"Yes. According to the report I sent you... have you read it?"

"I'm not done going through the report yet. I'm taking my time to investigate thoroughly."

"Alright, but there's something else I found that struck me as odd."

"What is it?" Liu Xiao Xin pressed, her curiosity piqued.

"Her son's illness and the treatment they received in their previous country suddenly changed to something more severe."

"Wait, how old is her son?" Liu Xiao Xin's voice tightened with apprehension.

"He's only six years old."

Realization dawned upon Liu Xiao Xin as all the pieces of the puzzle finally fell into place. Her eyes widened, mirroring the weight of the revelation.

"Ms...?" Ma Yi's voice trailed off, sensing the shift in Liu Xiao Xin's demeanour.

"Ms. Liu?" Concern laced Ma Yi's tone.

Liu Xiao Xin took a deep breath, collecting her thoughts before responding. "I... I need to make some calls and then inform my brother," she said with determination, her mind racing with the urgency of the situation.

The room fell into silence as Liu Xiao Xin disconnected the call, her mind filled with the gravity of the information she had just uncovered.

She rose from her reading chair, a surge of purpose guiding her steps as she reached for her second phone, ready to set the wheels of action in motion.

With every dial and every conversation that followed, Liu Xiao Xin's resolve grew more assertive. She navigated through a trap of connections, unearthing the truth that had remained hidden for far too long.

As she prepared to inform her brother, a mix of emotions flooded her heart. Concern for his well-being and anger at the deceit that had clouded their lives fueled her determination.
