The beautiful weather in the day took a turn during the night as it started pouring and thundering. It was very dark with no moon or stars, and on the street, very few people were out because of the weather. Still, no rain or darkness can stop two people from standing out.
Yang Zheyan had his back leaned against the wall while he looked down at his shoes. His tall silhouette caught people's eyes, but it was his face that captured their hearts. He looked like an abandoned puppy waiting for his owner to come to get him.
"Should we go talk to him?"
A pair of women from across the street whispered to each other.
"I think he's waiting for someone."
"But his face is so my type!"
"Then… Let's go ask for his number quickly."
They were about to cross the street, but a woman in a black trench coat and holding a black umbrella stepped in front of them. She turned her head slightly to look at them and gave both of them a warm smile.
"I wouldn't do that." The woman in the black trench coat said.
The woman who wanted Yang Zheyan's phone number felt her heart thump against her chest. A warm smile was given, but somehow it felt more like a warning.
"W-who are you?"
Both of them stared at the woman who blocked their pathway. She wore a black trench coat like a dress with her legs exposed and black heels. They couldn't see her face clearly because of the umbrella, but they could tell she was beautiful even without showing her entire face.
Xiong Jingfei's warm smile became warmer as she turned her gaze across the street. "I am the person he's been waiting for."
Yang Zheyan continued to listen to the raindrops as it hit the ground and splattered on his shoes. His outer appearance may look like an abandoned puppy, but it was actually a beast with clouded eyes.
Whatever he does and thinks, it returns back to the dancing woman and Xiong Jingfei. He dreamt of Xiong Jingfei, but if it was only a dream, why does he keep feeling like it did happen? Everything she did and said to him didn't feel like a dream. It was like he remembered something he had forgotten.
It's been like that ever since the day Lu Xuefeng visited, so he tried contacting Xiong Jingfei less to get his thoughts straightened out. Except, it wasn't working, so when Xiong Jingfei offered to meet him, he immediately took it.
Just as Yang Zheyan was deep in thoughts, a pair of black heels stepped into his view.
"You're here early. You still have five more minutes." Xiong Jingfei checked the watch on her wrist. She smiled at the man she made an appointment with at Guiying Hui Museum. "Why are you out here in the rain instead of waiting inside?"
Yang Zheyan didn't answer her or look up at her.
Xiong Jingfei slightly tilted her umbrella as if she was sheltering Yang Zheyan's shoes from the rain.
"Were you afraid I'll change my mind and run away?" Xiong Jingfei joked. Though he had every right to believe she would run away. "I won't-"
Yang Zheyan grabbed Xiong Jingfei's arm, the one holding onto the umbrella and pulled her in. His other arm wrapped around her waist as he rested his forehead on her left shoulder. His face was touching her cheeks, showing her how long he has been waiting in the rain for her.
"I caught you." Yang Zheyan's arm around her waist tightens as if trying to energize himself through her.
"That's because I let you." Xiong Jingfei loudly gasped when Yang Zheyan's arms got tighter around her. "Are you trying to kill me? Can you let go already? People are looking at us!"
Yang Zheyan shook his head on her shoulders. "There is no one looking at us."
In his eyes, there is no one else but Xiong Jingfei. Right here and right now.
Xiong Jingfei tilted her head back to see if the two women from earlier were still there, and yes, they were. Probably waiting to see if Xiong Jingfei's statement about Yang Zheyan waiting for her was true.
Both of them quickly dodge eye contact with Xiong Jingfei and immediately went on their way without looking back.
"Let's go inside." Xiong Jingfei sighed and stroked the back of Yang Zheyan's head. "Okay~?"
"Five more seconds."
"Five, four, three, two, one!" Xiong Jingfei quickly counted down and broke free from his grasp. She smiled, "Well, then. Should we?"
Xiong Jingfei didn't wait for him to lead, she headed for the museum back doors. Before she could get two steps in, someone pulled on her trench coat.
"Are you a kid?" Xiong Jingfei frowned and turned around. She looked down at the claw holding onto her coat. He wasn't showing any sign that he plans to let go. She reminded herself to be nice because she needed him. "Hand."
Yang Zheyan didn't let go of her coat, but he did obediently give her his other hand.
She grabbed onto it. "Now, can you let go?"
Yang Zheyan did let go of her coat, but he made sure to do it slowly in case she let go of his hand.
Xiong Jingfei scrunched up her eyebrows. Something is definitely wrong with him today! But, she needs to get inside the museum because it holds things that belong to her.
When they got to the back, Yang Zheyan took out the key to get inside the museum. He mumbled, "Why do I get the feeling your real intention is not to see me?"
"Does it look like that?" Xiong Jingfei laughed and pulled open the door, but it was slammed shut. "Hey!"
Yang Zheyan's arm blocked her from opening the door as he cornered her body closer to the door. He leaned in and whispered, "There is something you want in here, and I'll give it to you. But in life, there is nothing given for free, so what will you give me in return for it?"
