Exedra dropped his cloak and revealed his extremely muscled torso that was already growing pitch black scales.
"Who the hell are you… what kind of demon has scales?"
Unfortunately for them, the demon lord had no intention of answering their questions.
Exedra did not consider himself to be an arrogant man by any means but in battle he was horribly prideful.
Even now he could feel it.
There wasn't a single person in the army before him that could give him a decent challenge.
They were not worthy of hearing his name nor his purpose.
'Looks like I'll be waiting on the rest of the guests to arrive.'
Exedra sighed before he stretched his muscular body.
For enemies like these, drawing his weapon was gross overkill.
But there were always methods to make things more fun.
Plus as a doting father, he naturally wanted to put on a good show for Mira.
"There is a quote I like by a deceased human."
Nicholas frowned. Why was this demon suddenly so chatty?
"I feel myself drawn towards an end that I do not know. As soon as I reach it, as soon as I become unnecessary, an atom will suffice to shatter me. Until then, all the forces of mankind can do nothing to stop me."
"What the hell are you babbling about?! I've never heard that before!"
Exedra could only shake his head.
"That human perfectly encapsulated the pursuit of victory. As well as the shackles that are humanity."
The demon lord opened up his palms and formed two flames.
In one hand he held his natural infernal flames, in the other, the soul searing flames he'd recently purchased from the shop.
He brought his hands together to combine the two and an eerie blue flame was produced.
"So I ask you, if a powerless human could withstand all the forces of mankind, what could your little army possibly do to stop one such as myself?"
He threw the ball of blue fire into the air and it exploded immediately.
What sprung forth was a cage of blue flames that entrapped the entire human army.
A few unfortunate soldiers touched the flames and experienced the worst fate imaginable.
The fire not only spread from the point of contact, burning the soldiers until nothing was left behind but armor, it also burned away their very souls ensuring they would never reach the afterlife or reincarnate.
Panic broke out among the soldiers after seeing their comrades die so quickly, but Nicholas' voice was able to somehow cut through the frightened screams of his soldiers.
"Stand your ground men! Steel yourselves and get away from the flames!"
"Tsk. Annoying."
Seeing Exedra's irritation, Nicholas began to gloat. "Did you think we would lose morale with that party trick?"
The human was unaware that Exedra's irritation came from the paltry numbers of experience he received for killing a few soldiers.
'I should've expected this but still… 50 exp and 50 SC is so disappointing.'
It seemed like the boost from his grandfather was going to make leveling up much harder.
Exedra's fingers changed into long black claws and Nicholas felt a sense of danger the likes of which he'd never known. "He's coming! Get ready!"
"Blood dancer steps."
In an instant, Exedra's body disappeared from where he originally stood and he reappeared in the center of the army.
"W-what the hell!?"
"He infiltrated our ranks, somebody stop him!"
The soldiers had no chance to match Exedra's speed and with the movement technique taught to him by Seras, the matchup was even more unfair.
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
The sound of Exedra's thunderous blows striking against soldiers rang throughout the battlefield.
Bodies flew, their insides crushed beyond repair when they received a well placed punch or kick to their torso.
The dragon raised his brow in surprise however when, amidst the carnage he realized the soldiers' bodies weren't exploding into bits after taking one of his punches but a quick command to the system revealed the reason.
[ Bloody Saint's Armor : Unique Grade
- 25% resistance to demonic attacks.
- + 2,500 to all stats when worn by a human.
'So I can hit a little harder then?'
Exedra suddenly stopped holding back and the blows he threw had a very noticeable change.
BANG
BANG
BANG
The mere wind pressure from his strikes was enough to turn their bodies into red mist.
His claws tore through the soldiers as if they were made of paper and their seemed to be no resistance at all.
'What… what kind of abomination is this.'
Nicholas was watching the unfolding carnage with a trembling gaze.
The demon had only begun his onslaught five minutes ago, yet he was already approaching a thousand kills.
'Why isn't the armor working?!'
From the beginning, they hadn't been able to match Exedra in speed or destructive power.
Soldiers were already beginning to lose morale, and they would've attempted to run had he not trapped them in here with him before he began.
"Damn it… damn it!!" Nicholas finally swallowed his pride and pulled out a large bright blue gem from his pocket.
"Men! Do not panic! The mother goddess has not abandoned her most faithful!!"
Not just the soldiers, even Exedra paused to see what Nicholas would do next.
He held the large blue gem high in the sky for all to see before crushing it with his hand.
FLASH!
A blinding golden light shot out from the crushed gem and shot into the sky.
The light easily blew apart Exedra's cage of fire and dispersed it, before it formed a crack in the sky.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Suddenly Exedra's danger senses went haywire and a shower of spears of light rained down upon him.
He quickly teleported 30 meters away back to where he initially stood, his eyes never leaving the crack in the sky.
From the golden portal, a gorgeous tanned woman emerged.
She wore a simple white dress that gave her a modest appearance despite her enchanting figure.
She had golden chains on her hands and feet and her long silver hair billowed freely in the wind.
Her four mesmerizing white wings carried her gently down to the ground, next to Nicholas.
"Did I not warn you that your vile deeds would bear no fruit against a member of the abyss?"
Nicholas appeared to be very confused for a moment until his brain began to connect the dots.
"L-lady Malenia, you mean to say that he is the horror you spoke of?"
"Indeed." The angel had not taken her golden eyes off Exedra since she'd arrived.
"A dragon, a demon lord, and an abyss walker. My, my, what a frightening combination." She could only imagine the atrocities he would commit if he was given time to grow.
She could already feel the terrible nature of his aura and knew that this battle would not be easy, even for her.
"If you surrender now, I will make your end painless."
Exedra's response was to draw his weapon and have it take the shape of a golden bident.
"Defiant till the end it seems." Malenia took her eyes off of Exedra for the first time and stared at the crack in the sky she'd appeared from.
"Soldiers of the white city, to arms."
At her command, the crack in the sky widened and more angels in golden armor began to pour out.
Soon the blue sky was covered in winged men and women as far as the eye could see.
"I may have over prepared… it makes no difference. You must be exterminated." Malenia spoke.
Exedra stared up at all the enemies before him.
With the remainder of the human army included, he was right back where he started.
But the numbers did not bother him.
"Daddy!"
""""Husband!""""
Exedra held his hand up to imply that he was alright and to stop them from running to join the battle. "I'm quite fine girls don't worry, but you might want to back up a bit."
Hearing his calm and composed tone, the girls hesitated before obeying his command.
Truthfully, Exedra was really excited.
He finally had an excuse to use his last gift from his grandmother.
"Children of the Turok-Han."
As soon as Exedra murmured their ancient name, they responded to his call and the earth began to tremble.
