Meanwhile, after Shane, their indomitable leader, was summoned to the Regional Auction Event, the air in the estate was somehow filled with tension.
After about an hour, everyone who had left the estate to forage, mine, or hunt had already returned... There were no more outside tasks to ensure everyone's safety while Shane wasn't here yet. After all, Shane was still considered the strongest person in the estate.
Without him, the estate's defenses would weaken by a huge percentage.
Lucas, whose military past was etched into the lines of his face and the way he carried his revolver, patrolled the orchard with a calm yet prepared movement...
His eyes scanned the walls, making sure that they were all in good condition. He also listened carefully in case Jumper Zombies came and passed through them.
Of course, he also silently prayed that the only intruders for now would be the occasional stray bird or the rustling leaves carried by the wind.
"I don't really think we should worry about low-tier Zombies right now... I wonder if there will be mid-tier Zombies visiting us this time..." Lucas muttered as he continued observing the surroundings.
Gene, the young knight with hair like gold, stood sentinel at the estate's main entrance, wearing his full armor and weapon.
The Serrated Reaper Blade, a gift from Shane, rested in his hands. Over the past few days, he had already mastered using this blade to the point that he could kill multiple Runner Zombies without being dirtied by their blood.
Furthermore, he was now confident that he could even defeat a Super Soldier if they weren't carrying weapons.
Of course, he was also prepared to fight higher tier Zombies who dared threaten their sanctuary.
High above, in the watchtower, and higher than most of the threes in the forest, Leo's silhouette could be seen.
The crossbow, seemingly designed for hunting game, was now a tool of defense on his hands.
The bell beside him, silent for now, was ready to ring a warning that would rally the estate to arms.
"It's actually cool here... This is a good place to relax." Leo muttered as he leaned on the wooden pillar. Most of his time was spent in his smithy, so he was no longer used to the cold breeze that he could feel at the watchtower... It was definitely a nice change of pace in his daily life in the estate.
He then looked at the area where he noticed some movements and confirmed that it was just a walker zombie.
There was a trap ahead of it, so he wasn't too concerned about this.
Instead, he focused on other areas where he noticed some movements in the branches of trees. He wasn't too sure, but it seemed that a huge zombie capable of knocking down trees was lurking around the estate about 300 meters away from them. It wasn't too far from them at all.
Nonetheless, it was moving in a different direction, so he didn't alert the others until now.
In the meantime, at the main ground of the estate, Harper's voice echoed...
"Not like that! Follow my movement!"
He was instructing the three prisoners—Chris, Jake, and Liam—in the art of efficient mining!
With his level 10 Mining Skill, Harper was the only one who could teach them properly!
During this time, the clinking of their tools against rock provided a steady rhythm. It was proof of Harper's efficient teaching method.
Apparently, Harper was disappointed at the ores they had mined, so he had no choice but to teach these Prisoners again.
"Good! Continue doing this movement... Do not be too stiff! You must see its flow!" He continued.
Lucas, stationed at the orchard, fired his revolver with deadly accuracy!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Each shot finds its mark in the head of an advancing zombie. His military training was evident in the calmness of his demeanor, even as his heart pounded against his ribs.
'Jumper Zombies, huh... I think there's something wrong...' Lucas mused as he recalled Anna telling them that Jumper Zombies rarely come in a large group based on her memories.
Woof! Woof! Woof!
At this time, Lucky, Anna's dog, called his attention and dashed towards an area near the orchard!
Apparently, there were other zombies trying to breach the place in the blind spot of the watchtower!
He swiftly left the main entrance to the others and decided to follow Lucky!
Gene, near the main entrance, brandished the Serrated Reaper Blade with experienced movement...
The blade hummed through the air, cleaving through decaying flesh and bone as he fought against the Jumper Zombies...
Atop the watchtower, Leo switched from the bell to his crossbow, sending bolts flying into the fray. Each one would hit the Zombies but they weren't being killed. However, it was still enough to halt a Jumper Zombie mid-leap, sending it crashing to the ground!
Bang!
Finally, as Gene was feeling overwhelmed, the Super Soldiers, armed only with their Rare-Grade Crowbars, charged into battle!
Haa!
Their movements were quick as they worked together to dispatch the Jumper Zombies with brutal efficiency.
Their crowbars, seemingly humble tools, were wielded with the precision and lethality of ancient weapons!
The estate was filled with the sound of metal cleaving through rotten flesh and splintering bone.
Cassius, the leader of the Super Soldiers, led the charge. His crowbar swung in wide, sending a Jumper Zombie reeling back, its body crumpling under the unstoppable force.
Boom!
Mara, the unit's second-in-command, moved the fastest among the group...
Her crowbar was a blur, striking the heads of the Jumper Zombies!
If they were mid-air in their jumps, she targeted the joints, the weak spots, dismantling the zombies with an almost clinical efficiency...
Then, two other Super Soldiers stood back-to-back, as they waited for the Jumper Zombies... Their combined might forming an impenetrable wall of defense!
The zombies that ventured too close were met with a swift end, their grotesque forms collapsing like puppets with severed strings!
Gene even had to back away as he was worried that one of the Jumper Zombies would just come flying at him, thrown by the Super Soldiers or blasted by their crowbars!
Together, the Super Soldiers were an unstoppable force!
