Lucas, his breath ragged and his heart pounding, watched as Lucky, the loyal canine companion of Anna, darted towards a neglected corner of the estate.
His instincts screamed that something was amiss, and as he followed, the sight that greeted him chilled his blood.
Three very abnormal Zombies, whose forms were more exaggerated than usual, gnawed at the essence of the Bulwark Beacon's barrier.
It was no wonder the barrier failed to stop the other Jumper Zombies!
Lucas could still feel the essence of the barriers from these Zombies!
'What are these zombies anyway? I have never seen this kind before...' Lucas clenched his fist as he wasn't sure whether he could stop them...
For now, he could only hope that the Super Soldiers would quickly deal with the Jumper Zombies and help him here...
After reaching this thought, he suddenly froze...
"Am I scared?!" Lucas muttered. He was both shocked and unconvinced by his cowardly thoughts!
He knew very well that these three were no ordinary foes; they were larger than normal Zombies, each muscle screamed with unholy strength.
From their movement and how they behaved, he could also tell that these Zombies had intelligence... The fact that they were able to silently destroy the barrier was proof of that.
Nonetheless, what truly bothered him was the fact that the essence of the Bulwark Beacon's energy seemed to have been consumed by these unknown types of Zombies!
The Bulwark Beacon, Shane's safeguard that should have lasted thirty days, was being consumed before its time.
"Tsk... We should really have more watchtowers! These Zombies are smart!" He couldn't help but complain as he looked at his surroundings to plan how he would fight these zombies...
"I just have to be careful... I can do this..." Lucas's voice was a whisper lost in the wind. In any case, he was also wearing his Army Set, so he had decent durability and speed!
Lucas raised his revolver, the familiar weight of which was a small comfort against the looming threat. He fired, once, twice, thrice—each shot was aimed at the Zombie's heads, aiming to destroy their brains...
Unfortunately, the bullets, which would have felled normal undead, barely slowed the monstrous trio. Their skulls were simply too thick!
Instead of killing them, Lucas had just made them even angrier!
They turned their attention to him, their eyes devoid of soul, yet filled with a ravenous hunger.
Lucas backpedaled, firing until the click of an empty chamber echoed his disappointment...
Its edge gleamed with the sharpness that reassured Lucas once more.
After taking a deep breath, he targeted the nearest zombie.
Lucas, his breaths coming in ragged gasps, faced the larger zombies with a mind that these zombies were as good as the Super Soldiers!
The Master-Grade Gideon's Blade in his hand felt like an extension of his will as he focused on his breathing...
The Sentinel Sphere's force field shimmered around the butler, making him a perfect vanguard in this situation... Although this butler was quite old, he truly was a reliable one!
Whoosh~
The first of the monstrous Jumper Zombies was too focused on the butler and it almost failed to notice Lucas...
The moment it did, the Zombies just instinctively smashed its hand, but Lucas sidestepped, the ground beneath him cracking from the force of the creature's missed strike.
He pivoted, bringing the blade around in a sweeping arc that connected with the zombie's neck.
Ssaaakkk---
The sound was sickening, a wet crunch that echoed through the silent estate as the creature's head was severed from its body, tumbling to the ground in a grotesque ballet.
'A Master-Grade indeed! This is better than using firearms!'

The second behemoth roared, a sound that was more felt than heard, and charged with its arms outstretched, seeking to crush Lucas in its grasp since it could do much against the butler!
Lucas ducked low, feeling the rush of air as the zombie's arms passed overhead.
He thrust upward, the blade piercing the soft underbelly of the beast!
With a twist and a pull, he eviscerated the creature, its innards spilling like a macabre offering upon the earth.
The third and final Jumper Zombie was upon him then, its eyes alight with a malevolent intelligence. It felt as if it actually feinted to the left to bait him!
Nonetheless, Lucas mirrored the movement and was really careful!
The zombie leaped, aiming to pounce from above, but Lucas was ready. He rolled forward, the world narrowing to the point of his blade and the heart of the beast!
He rose at the exact moment, and his momentum carried him upward. Then, he drove the blade deep into the zombie's chest!
