Chapter 165 Smaller One
Shane also wanted to get some action against this unknown Zombie... Seeing that it was already weakened, he decided to make his move.
The Zombie was barely moving, and as the Monk backed away, he saw an opening as it knelt to the ground after Chaloem's relentless series of attacks.
This time, Shane drew his Master-Grade Hatchet. It had a gleaming edge shimmering in the dim light of the cavern as he activated one of its effects.
He decided to use this weapon instead of the Electric Blade Shock because of its sharpness, which surpassed the blade.
Shane held the hatchet tightly and lunged forward. His muscles tensed up as he brought down the hatchet with all his might upon the behemoth zombie!
Whoosh~
The blade slashed deep into its undead flesh with a sizzling sound as Shane activated its Fire Effect!
The hatchet's incredible sharpness and the searing fire effect it carried sliced through the Zombie's flesh, causing flames to erupt from the wound and engulf the creature in a blaze of fiery destruction!
Despite the ferocity of Shane's attack, the undead behemoth refused to fall immediately, its undead resilience allowing it to endure the onslaught of flames and steel.
However, its flesh and bones were slowly collapsing, and it was unable to hold on.
Boom!
The cavern trembled as the beast let out a final roar, its massive form collapsed to the ground in a cloud of ash and smoke, signaling the end of its reign of terror.
"Whew... What a tough zombie..." Shane muttered as he didn't expect the Zombie to still have so much energy after receiving those Ki attacks from the Monk.
Eldrin and the others also heaved a sigh of relief at seeing that the boss zombie had finally been defeated.
"Mhmm?"
However, Shane felt confused as he waited for the system notification to appear... After waiting for a few more seconds, it still didn't appear, and this time, Shane felt a chill run down his spine. It felt like something ominous was about to happen.
Crack...
Just as the Monk and the others began to catch their breath and celebrate their hard-fought victory, a sudden sense of unease crept over them.
"Something's wrong..." Shane announced.
Then, a chilling silence descended upon the cavern, broken only by the sound of their labored breathing and the crackling of the dying flames.
And then, from the smoldering remains of the fallen behemoth, a small figure emerged!
Crack!
From the chest of the Zombie, a hand came out and slowly extricated itself from the corpse of the huge Zombie.
"This..." Shane's eyes widened as he didn't expect the Zombie to give birth or, perhaps, have another Zombie within its body!
The small Zombie, no larger than a child, staggered forward with an eerie gait, its eyes glowing with killing intent as it fixed its gaze upon them...
With a collective gasp, everyone readied themselves for yet another battle...
Although they haven't started the fight yet, they could all feel that this smaller Zombie was a lot more dangerous than the huge one...
He wasn't sure what liquid it was and he didn't feel comfortable touching it either.
Nonetheless, Chaloem was quick with his decision... He decided to fight unarmed and show his Martial Arts Mastery!
Soon, his combat skills were on full display as he attacked the small Zombie and sent it to its knees.
"Hmph! You're sturdy but not quick enough..."
With a swift and powerful kick, Chaloem's Ki-enhanced attack struck the Zombie's belly, sending a shockwave of energy rippling through the air and finally staggering the small Zombie.
The Monk's timely intervention saved his comrades from certain doom, buying them a precious moment of respite in the midst of the upsetting battle.
As the small Zombie recoiled from Chaloem's onslaught, the elves regrouped and wanted to fight once again.
But this time, Shane felt something off.
He wasn't sure, but it felt as if his new skill, Danger Sense, was actually working right now!
He couldn't ignore it as it felt like it was warning him of imminent danger. He then focused his attention on the small zombie that had been temporarily incapacitated by Chaloem's powerful strikes.
"Mhmm?"
Suddenly, a sense of foreboding gripped him as he witnessed the undead creature emitting dark liquid from its twisted orifices, a clear sign that something was about to happen and it sent a chill down his spine.
'I don't care anymore...'
Realizing that time was of the essence and not wanting to wait and see what horror awaited them, Shane swiftly made a decision.
With a fluid motion, he retrieved his Sharpshooter's Laser Sniper Rifle, a weapon he bought in the auction that he had saved for moments of dire need.
"Move back..." Shane reminded his team, as he didn't want any of them to get caught in the line of fire.
Taking aim with complete focus, Shane calibrated his shot with the help of his weapon mastery skill.
Before the mysterious small zombie could finish what it was trying to do, Shane squeezed the trigger!
Click!
A brilliant beam of laser light erupted from the barrel of the rifle, streaking through the air, and it headed accurately towards the small zombie!
Thud!
The searing beam of energy struck the undead creature's head with pinpoint precision, engulfing it in a blinding flash of light and unleashing a powerful blast that reverberated through the cavern!
The beam didn't just blast the zombie's head, but it also pierced through the rocky wall!
The small zombie didn't even let out a screech as the heat spread and half of its body was soon consumed by the intense energy of the laser rifle!
Indeed, its head disintegrated into nothingness as the force of the blast obliterated it from existence while half of its body started turning into ashes.
The five elves and the Monk couldn't help but look at Shane and the weapon in his hands. They didn't expect him to carry such a terrifying weapon!
With the threat finally eliminated, a heavy silence descended upon the cavern, broken only by the faint crackle of residual energy dissipating into the air and the sound of the notification brought by his System.
