Chapter 338 The Growing Doubt (Part 3)

''I'm done, young master. '' Arora turned and said after successfully establishing a bond with the last black cat using her skill.

Then she continued, turning her gaze back to the cats. ''Also, these cats' wings were granted to them through a support-type skill, but fortunately, it seems that the effect will last until the end of the match. ''

She used to believe that these cats were naturally winged, but now, after forming a mental bond with them, she realizes that their wings are not inherently theirs. However, since the skill effect was still active and would persist for a considerable duration, it wouldn't pose any issues during the match.

''They are not naturally flying cats? '' Hearing this, Raydon briefly displayed a hint of disappointment on his face.

He had held a particular fascination with these winged cats, as he had assumed that a cat with the ability to fly would be more valuable than a regular walking cat. The fact that their wings were fake, on the other hand, dampened his enthusiasm because it led him to believe that they might not be as remarkable as he had originally believed they would be.

''Regardless, they are still my valuable loot. '' Raydon stated, quickly overcoming his disappointment. He then turned to Arora and gave her the next instruction. ''Begin your search, prioritizing enemy teams. ''

''Yes, young master. '' Arora acknowledged, first allowing Elysia to enhance the cats' speed with her support skill. She then commanded the cats to scatter and investigate in different directions using her mind control.

Two of the cats were also left behind by Arora. One of the cats skillfully climbed up Arora's clothing and settled comfortably on her shoulder, where it nestled itself into a cozy spot.

She pointed to the other cat, directing it towards Raydon, and said, ''Young master, keep this spirit beast with you for communication purposes. ''

Normally, communication within their team relied solely on Arora, but she was well aware of Raydon's tendency to wander off and leave them behind. Therefore, she deemed it necessary to have a means of communicating directly with him.

''At least you have a useful skill, unlike us,'' Verda chimed in, a faint smirk on her face. While she possessed support-focused skills, her true prowess lay in debuffing the enemy team. Yet, with Raydon's formidable power, her abilities were rendered unnecessary.

''I don't understand,'' Nysora interjected her expression a mix of confusion and contemplation.

Mell approached and inquired, ''What is it that you don't understand?''

''It seems entirely unnecessary for us to accompany him in this match,'' Nysora expressed her thoughts. ''If the family leader had provided him with the promised items beforehand, he wouldn't require our presence at all.''

She was acutely aware of the fact that Raydon only relied on them due to the fact that he lacked investigative skills and had a limited capacity for storage within his dimensional storage.

''Perhaps the family leader sent us to observe him rather than to support him,'' Elysia, who had remained quiet until now, voiced her opinion in an indifferent and detached manner.

They regarded it as inconceivable that the head of the family could be ignorant of Raydon's capabilities. While sending them here with him, he must have known that Raydon would not need their help in any case.

''Observe for what?'' Mell asked, her confusion evident.

After a brief moment of silence, as each member pondered the question, Nysora spoke with a serious expression. ''They probably want us to determine if he could be a potential threat to the family.''

''Threat to the family? But he is the young master of the family, right? What kind of threat could he pose?'' Mell expressed her confusion, struggling to comprehend the notion.

''Do you still not understand?'' Verda interjected with a frown.

''Understand what? Stop speaking in riddles and start explaining,'' Mell insisted.
