The viewing event soon ended and the guests started to pile out of the hotel. Of course, the reporters that were waiting outside were desperate to get photos of the guests, so a couple of them had snuck in.
Halia didn't notice them, but Sean did. As one of them turned their camera towards Halia, he quickly ran over to her, grabbed her hand and dragged her into the elevator. Natalie tried to chase after the two in surprise, but the elevator closed before she got there.
After the doors closed, Halia quickly shook Sean's hand away.
"There was a reporter," Sean explained.
"Thanks," Halia said as she pressed the button for her floor.
"Can we have a quick debrief?" Sean whispered.
There were other people in the elevator, so they couldn't discuss their case there.
Soon, the elevator reached Halia's floor and she stepped out. "Come in for a bit," she said as she opened the door.
Sean followed Halia inside. The suite was huge and grand, decorated with expensive furniture and accessories. Sean had never stepped foot into such an expensive hotel suite before.
Halia walked over to a luxurious Chesterfield sofa and sat down. Sean quickly followed over and sat down opposite her.
"Did any junkets approach you tonight?" he asked.
Halia shook her head.
"I tried chatting to some of the service staff and I kept a close look on them, but I didn't get any leads either," Sean explained.
"We have one more chance tomorrow. I'll debrief you again tomorrow," Sean said.
Halia stood up and walked over to the window. The moon was shining brightly outside. "It's a full moon," she whispered to herself as she ran her hand across her bracelet. Today was the day she was supposed to remove Jackson's stitches. "I wonder if anyone's removing them for him," she thought to herself.
At that moment, she suddenly felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist from behind. Inside the dimly lit hotel suite, a man's voice said gently beside her ear, "I'm sorry about what happened on the plane, I didn't mean to upset you, but I know you have feelings for me and I have feelings for you too. Why do you keep denying it?"
Halia quickly pulled the man's arms away and turned to face him. She couldn't blame him for misunderstanding since he didn't know that she had Sara's memories in her mind, but she had to set him straight.
"I honestly have no feelings for you. You are my handler and I simply think of you as a friend or a brother. Besides, are you sure that you like me? I heard your girlfriend passed away not too long ago," Halia didn't want to remind the man of the sad death, but she had no choice.
"How do you know about Sara?" Sean asked.
"I used to work in the same precinct as her and I took over the serial killer case she was working on," Halia explained.
Sean looked at the woman in surprise. Her gentle eyes looked into his as she patted him on the shoulder comfortingly. "I know you still miss her," she said.
"Perhaps, you were desperate to forget about her, or maybe I reminded you of her in some way. But, you need to calm down and think logically. We haven't known each other for long. In fact, we've only met during our mission briefings. Why would you like me?" Halia asked.
"You're wrong," Sean said stubbornly. "Remember when you brought me chestnuts and coffee? I liked that you were thoughtful. And remember when you went fishing with me? I liked your willingness to try something new and I liked that you enjoyed it. You made me laugh and smile when I thought I'd never laugh and smile again. When you went missing, I was so worried about you. And when I found you again, I was so relieved."
Sean leaned forward, pinning Halia against the glass window behind her. "Plus, you're beautiful," he whispered beside Halia's ear before he placed a sensual kiss on her neck.
Halia froze as the kiss sent tingles down her spine. The man wrapped his arms around her h.i.p.s and pulled her closer as his lips trailed down to her collarbone. Halia stretched her neck and closed her eyes in pleasure.
They were alone in her hotel suite and she was losing control again. Worst of all, she hadn't set an alarm this time. Halia tried to focus, but Sara's love for Sean was too strong. Her body felt like jelly in his arms. Gradually, the man's lips made its way to her mouth. He violently kissed down on her, pressing her head against the window pane behind as she let out a gentle m.o.a.n of pleasure.
The man was a little surprised. That was the same reaction that Sara used to have when he kissed her.
Trying to ignore the thought, he shoved his tongue into Halia's mouth, tasting the champagne that she had drunk earlier. But, as he did this, Halia grabbed the back of his head and started running her fingers through his hair - just like Sara.
Sean finally paused and looked at the woman in front of him.
Maybe she was right.
Maybe he was using her as a replacement for Sara because their reactions were much too similar.
At that moment, the doorbell rang.
Halia snapped awake and quickly kneed Sean between his legs. Grabbing his reproductive organs painfully, Sean fell on the floor as Halia ran to open the door...
