Chapter 128 - I Want To Breakup

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
"It really is you," Emerson smiled.

"I noticed you from outside. What are you doing in the VIP room?" Emerson asked.

Halia glanced at Emerson. That was right, he didn't know she was here on a junket package.

"I was actually invited by one of your junkets, so I need to spend 2 hours here," Halia explained helplessly.

Emerson looked at Halia in surprise. He thought she had specifically come to Macau for him. But, as it turned out, she was just there for a vacation.

"Oh, I had no idea," Emerson sighed. He then lowered his head and said apologetically, "I honestly thought you were here for me, that's why I acted the way I did last night. Halia, I've never been the type of man to force myself onto a woman. I'm honestly sorry for my actions last night, I truly misunderstood your intentions. I'm sorry if I frightened you. I hope we can still be friends."

After Emerson finished talking, there was a moment of awkward silence.

"If you accept my apology, can I treat you to a drink tonight? The bar at the casino is really nice."

Halia smiled at the man. She could hear his sincerity, so, she nodded her head.

"In that case, I'll see you later tonight," the man smiled as he walked away.

But, even though he had a smile on his face, his heart was filled with uncertainty. A moment ago, he had clearly seen the message on Halia's phone: she had asked someone to investigate his uncle. Why? There was something suspicious about this woman.

...

Later that day, Halia returned to her hotel room to get changed for dinner and the bar. She had no plans for dinner, so she decided to eat in one of the casino's many restaurants.

While she was alone in her room, she glanced down at her bracelet and felt her heart ache. She thought about the words that Jackson said to her in the pool the previous night and couldn't understand what the man was trying to say. What did he mean by repaying him? And what did he mean by his girlfriend was very understanding?

How did he expect her to repay?

At that moment, Halia's eyes opened wide with realization.

Was he...

...taking inspiration from his father...

...and planning to have two girlfriends?!

Halia shook her head. She could never accept that!

If that was what he wanted, then he wasn't the man she thought she knew.

Halia began to have doubts. Perhaps, she had jumped into the relationship and got invested too quickly. After all, she didn't even know him properly yet.

"Stupid Jackson," she mumbled as she removed her bracelet. What kind of woman did he take her for?

As she held onto the bracelet, she wanted to force herself to hate the man and move on. But, even though she called his name in vain, she couldn't help but carefully place the bracelet in her room safe.

Removing the bracelet was the first step to moving on.

The next step was to speak to Jackson in person and draw the line. After all, the man had previously written her a note and told her to speak to him if she wanted to break up.

"I'll place you in this safe for now. But, as soon as I break up with that jerk, you're going straight into the bin," she said to the bracelet as she locked it up.

But, after she changed into a little black dress and left her room, she ended up running into the man sooner than she expected.

Amelie and Jackson were standing hand in hand inside the elevator that arrived on Halia's floor.

"Haili, it's nice to see you again," Amelie grinned.

Haili smiled and stepped into the elevator. Why was this woman being so friendly to her? Was she OK with the idea of sharing a man? Was that what Jackson meant by understanding?

As Halia stepped inside, there were already a few other people inside the elevator, so she had no choice but to stand beside Jackson.

"Where are you going tonight? You look nice," Amelie smiled as she ran her eyes across the woman's perfectly fit body.

"I'm popping down to dinner and meeting Emerson at the bar after," Halia replied.

"Oh, we're going to dinner too. Do you want to go together?" Amelie asked excitedly.

Halia glanced awkwardly at Jackson. The man had no reaction.

At that moment, a big group of friends suddenly stepped into the elevator and Halia was forced to shuffle closer to Jackson. As she moved in, her hand accidentally brushed up against Jackson's and she felt her heart melt at the familiar touch. But, her eyes quickly fell on his other hand which was entwined with Amelie's and she frowned.

"No, I don't want to be a third wheel. The two of you should have some alone time. After all, two's company, but three's a crowd..." Halia replied.

This time, Jackson's eyes twitched a little. What was this woman saying? Didn't she understand his hint yesterday?

It seemed, he had overestimated this dopey woman.

He turned his head to look down at Halia and noticed that she wasn't wearing the bracelet he gave her.

"Where's your bracelet?" he whispered beside Halia's ear.

Halia grabbed her wrist and cleared her throat awkwardly.

"I've decided not to wear it anymore," Halia replied. "The person that gave it to me has already moved on. So, I think I should move on too."

Jackson looked at Halia confusedly. Sure, he hadn't explained the entire situation to her yet, but he thought he had given her a clear hint the previous night.

"Didn't you get my hint last night?" Jackson asked.

"Yes, I got it loud and clear," Halia whispered back.

"But...I'm sorry...I'm not into threesomes," she continued with a hiss.

"That's why I want to breakup."

Jackson stared at Halia dumbfounded. Breakup? Threesome? What was going through this woman's head? How was she an agent with a brain like that? A moment later, his lips curved into a charming smile as he broke into laughter.

People often said that jealousy could cloud a person's judgment. From the looks of it, they were right.

"Have you never wondered why I used Morse code on your bracelet?" Jackson asked.

Halia looked away, ignoring the man.

"The average person doesn't know Morse code," Jackson whispered.

He then shuffled over in the crowded elevator and secretly hooked his pinky around Halia's playfully. Halia brushed his hand away, but the man quickly grabbed onto her hand.

Halia felt butterflies in her stomach as she glared at the man. Didn't she make herself clear? Why was he still teasing her?

"We're a couple of not so average people, SPU agent, Detective Feng..."

Halia looked at the man with confusion.

"We're being watched. I don't do threesomes, so I'll explain everything when we have a 'twosome' later," Jackson said with a wink.

At that moment, the elevator arrived at the ground floor.

Jackson quickly let go of Halia's hand and walked out with Amelie as though nothing had happened.
