Chapter 127 - Suspicion Everywhere

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
Even though Emerson didn't want it to, the night had to end after the accident at the pool. After all, Halia was soaked from head to toe and she had to dry off as soon as possible before she got sick. So he took Halia back to her hotel room and left disappointedly. Why did Halia back away from him so quickly? Was he that frightening?

Of course, it bothered him a little, but, that wasn't the only thing that bothered him

He was also curious about Jackson's reaction.

When he watched him attempt to save Halia earlier, there was an odd vibe to them. It was like they had known each other for a long time. He couldn't hear their conversation, but the look in their eyes was ever so ambiguous. Was he imagining things? After all, Amelie was right there with him.

Was there something wrong with Jackson? The fact that he suddenly returned was already strange enough.

...

Meanwhile, over in Jackson and Amelie's hotel room, Amelie finally sat down and got to ask Jackson what she had been wondering all night.

"You didn't answer me earlier," she smiled as she brewed a cup of coffee. "I saw her bracelet. She's the one right?"

Jackson went into the bathroom to change into some dry clothes. When he returned, he was drying his head with a towel.

"She's not bad, right?" Jackson asked with a smile.

Amelie sighed, "What is she doing here? Will she compromise what we are doing?"

"Don't worry, I have a feeling she is here on a mission. She's not going to compromise her own identity either," Jackson replied.

"Mission? What do you mean?" Amelie asked in confusion.

Jackson removed the towel from his head and laughed, "Oh, I forgot to tell you. She's an SPU agent."

Amelie looked at Jackson in surprise. No wonder Halia hadn't mentioned anything yet.

"Does that mean she knows your identity?" Amelie asked.

"No, I haven't told her anything yet. But, she's already figured out the code on my bracelet, so I'm sure she'll figure out roughly who I am soon," Jackson smiled.

Amelie sighed and shook her head. Things had gotten a lot more complicated.

"By the way, did you notice anyone following us today?" Jackson asked.

"No, I didn't see anyone suspicious today," Amelie replied.

"Me neither," Jackson smirked.

On the first day that Jackson and Amelie arrived in Macau, when they first ran into Halia, someone was watching their every move. Jackson had spotted the suspicious person as soon as they stepped foot in the casino, so he was extra careful not to blow his cover. When Halia showed up unexpectedly, he quickly made an excuse to return to his room as soon as possible. He even pretended to kiss Amelie, hoping to put on a convincing show for the mysterious person watching from the corridors. The fact that they weren't followed today meant that their show was convincing enough.

It seemed, they were right to follow the lead in Hong Kong; someone close to Jackson was definitely after him. Perhaps, they were paranoid that they had been discovered so they sent someone to follow Jackson and Amelie to make sure Jackson's cover was true. If they were convinced now, would they attack again?

Since no one followed them today, it was at least a good sign for now. Now that the enemy had their guard down, Jackson and Amelie could properly delve into their investigation. Who disliked Jackson so much that they tried to kill him? And for what reason? Most importantly, how did they know that he was back in France and in that safe house? Everything was highly confidential.

No matter who it was, one thing was for sure: this person was definitely rich. Otherwise, how could they afford to hire a top killer like Gogh?

Jackson didn't want to believe it, but he was beginning to suspect his family members.

...

The next day, Halia arrived at the VIP room as usual. After all, she had to spend at least two hours there every day. As she walked in, she noticed Thomas and Emerson's uncle chatting secretly in the corner. Halia quietly snuck over to hear their conversation.

"You didn't tell me that Director Feng and Emerson were so close," the uncle complained. "Did you discuss anything illegal to her yet?"

"No," Thomas replied.

"Good. From now on, only mention legal dealings in front of her and keep a close eye on who she talks to. I don't want word to get back to Emerson about what we're doing here," the uncle whispered.

Thomas nodded his head.

Halia listened carefully and frowned as she snuck away. She had a feeling the uncle was involved from the start. But, after what she heard, it appeared as though he wasn't just simply involved - he could well be the mastermind behind everything!

So, Halia quickly sent Sean a message, "Investigate, Everett Pang. He might be our guy."

But, just as she was messaging, someone suddenly snuck up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder. "Why are you acting so secretive here?" a man's voice asked.

Halia quickly hid her phone behind her back and turned around in surprise.

It was Emerson.

Did he see anything?
