Chapter 245 - Morton's Stalker?

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
"Why are you here, Miss Feng? I thought Haili Feng never attends social events, let alone private parties. Besides, isn't Fengtai based in Guiyang City, what are you doing in Beijing?" Morton asked with doubt.

Halia darted her eyes, "I live in Beijing," she said. "My friend invited me to join him, so I decided to make an exception and come."

Morton smirked. This woman didn't sound too convincing. But, why was she lying?

She dressed up as a man to work at his law firm; she happened to make coffee that was perfect for his tastes; she appeared at a party that she knew he would be at; she asked him to take her to one of the bedrooms; he even caught her holding a box of condoms.

Did this woman like him? Was she stalking him and trying to seduce him?

This wasn't the first time a woman had tried to get his attention. But, her method was certainly creative.

Morton looked down at Halia as she blinked at him innocently. Even when she was dressed as a man, he had noticed her beautiful eyes. Now that she was a woman, her eyes were even more alluring.

Halia was seated on the edge of the bed and the man was standing right in front of her. She couldn't move back, but she couldn't stand up either, so she gently cleared her throat, "Did you bring the bandaids and broom?"

Morton snapped out of his daze, pointed to a broom by the door and nodded his head. He then pulled out a small box of bandaids from his pocket. "Show me your finger. I'll put it on for you."

Halia quickly shook her head and grabbed the box. "No, that's fine. I can do it myself. Can you please move aside so I can get back to the bathroom?" she waved her hand awkwardly.

Morton smirked as he stepped aside and watched as Halia quickly rushed past, grabbed the broom and returned to the bathroom.

...

Back in the living room, Emerson was beginning to worry about Halia. What was taking her so long?

He glanced at his watch and looked over towards the corridor.

"There's always a queue for the bathroom," Roy explained when he saw the anxious look on Emerson's face.

Emerson looked at the man and quickly realized something as he nodded his head. As long as he kept an eye on Roy and prevented him from going near the bedrooms, then Halia wouldn't be caught and she could take as much time as she wanted. So, he raised his glass towards Roy, "Thanks for hosting a great party."

"No, thank you for coming, and thanks for bringing Miss Feng as well. It's such an honor," Roy replied as he raised his glass as well. "The two of you make a great couple."

Emerson blushed a little but didn't correct the man. After all, it didn't matter what this man thought.

But, next to them, Marissa overheard and frowned. Was Emerson admitting that they were a couple?

She grabbed another glass of alcohol and emptied it into her stomach as Danson continued to watch with amus.e.m.e.nt. "It seems, your 15 years of effort have gone to waste. This woman appeared out of nowhere and she's already won his heart," he teased.

Marissa clenched her fists angrily and grabbed onto Emerson's arm. "Emerson, do you want to dance?" she asked as she ignored Danson.

But, Emerson shook her arm away, "I'm waiting for Haili."

Danson chuckled on the side.

Overcome with humiliation, Marissa couldn't contain her anger anymore, so she finally yelled, "Haili, Haili, Haili, what's so good about her? You only met her a couple of months ago. Does that not compare to the 15 years that we've known each other? You obviously know I've liked you all these years, why haven't you given me a single chance?"

Emerson smiled and shook his head, "I've known Haili for much longer than a couple of months. She was the first girl I ever liked..."

Marissa froze and stared at the man with confusion.

At that moment, Danson spoke up, "The girl you danced with...your first love...was that Haili?"

Emerson looked at Danson. He had almost forgotten that they were once best friends.

Emerson nodded, "Yes...she is."

Marissa put down the glass in her hand in a defeated manner. All this time, she thought Haili had come out of nowhere. But, it turned out, Haili had always been there standing between them.

11 years ago, Marissa started her obsession with money and beauty after Emerson briefly mentioned that the girl he liked was beautiful and came from a good background. Who knew that this girl was Haili Feng?

Danson was also surprised. All these years, he thought there was an ambiguous relationship between Marissa and Emerson. He knew how much Marissa like Emerson and there were constant rumors about them, so he thought some of the rumors had to be true. He even ended their friendship because of this misunderstanding...

11 years ago, when Danson asked Marissa to be his girlfriend, he honestly intended for it to only last a week. But, as he got to know her better, he only felt his attraction grow stronger and he didn't want to let go. So, when the one week was up and Marissa thought she was meeting him for the last time as his girlfriend, he demanded for an extension.

"I thought my feelings would fade after one week, but it's only gotten stronger, so I changed my mind. Let's stay together for another month," he said.

Marissa looked at Danson in surprise. This wasn't what she had agreed to. If they stayed together for another month, then they would be dating at school. She didn't want anyone to know about them. Especially not Emerson.

"I can't..."

But, just as she opened her mouth to reject him, Danson suddenly pulled out a pair of gold earrings. "As like last time, this is compensation for your time," he said. He called it compensation, but it was a sincere gift that he wanted to give to the girl he liked.

Marissa looked at the earrings and hesitated. She had already sold the necklace that Danson gave her and used it to pay for a package of dermatology sessions. If she sold these earrings, what else could she do with the money?

She held onto the earrings and subconsciously nodded her head as her eyes lit up, "Since it's only one month, there's no point telling anyone about it. Let's continue to keep it a secret."

Danson smirked and nodded his head.

However, one month led to another...and another...and another...
