Jackson dragged Halia out to the parking lot where a Limousine was waiting.
"A Limousine?" Halia asked with confusion as Jackson opened the door. She had simply completed a mission, was a Limousine necessary?
But, when Halia peered in through the door, she noticed some familiar faces smiling at her from inside. Her eyes immediately enlarged in shock.
"Dad!" Halia exclaimed as she looked into her father's warm eyes. Halia's father was seated inside and next to him sat Father Wu, Emerson, Aunt Lily, and Jaclyn. On the opposite side of the limousine were Max, Natalie, Amelie and a friend that Halia hadn't seen for a while, Lily. Meanwhile, in the front, Rowan was driving, as usual, while Kevin sat next to him.
As soon as they saw Halia and Jackson, everyone quickly shuffled over to make space.
Halia looked at the familiar people with surprise. What were they all doing here? Apart from Jackson's three boys and Lily, everyone else was from out of town. Why were they all in Beijing?
Halia ran her eyes up and down her father. He was wearing a black tuxedo, a champagne-colored tie, and there was a pastel pink rose in his pocket. His hair was neatly done, and he had a proud look in his eyes as he gazed at his daughter.
"Jackson gathered us all here today to finalize something," Father Feng said with a grin.
Halia looked around, the men were all in tuxedos and the women were all in beautiful gowns. In fact, when she looked carefully now, she noticed that Max, Rowan, and Kevin were matching, while Natalie, Amelie, and Lily were matching. The men had on white shirts with grey vests and pants, a champagne-colored tie, and a pastel pink rose in their pocket, while the women were in cute, lacey champagne-colored knee-high dresses with pink rose flower crowns on their heads.
That's when Halia realized what was happening.
As the car moved, Jackson suddenly got down on one knee and held onto her hand.
"We've been separated and reunited multiple times, and we've had many people try to come between us during this time. I must admit, I found myself getting jealous on occasions. I've already made up my mind that you are the one I want to spend the rest of my life with and I want the world to know that you are mine. In our line of work, every day is unpredictable. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's to appreciate every day as if it's my last. If today was my last day on Earth, I would want to die knowing that you are my wife and that I did all I could to be your husband. I don't want to waste any time. If you are willing, then from this day forward, I vow to support you, push you, inspire you, and, above all, love you, for better or worse, in sickness and health, for richer or poorer, as long as we both shall live. Haili Feng, may I ask if you are still willing to marry me? And, if you are...will you marry me today?"
Halia was caught by surprise as she looked around the Limousine. All their closest friends and family were there. Jackson's three groomsmen were ready and the three bridesmaids that she briefly mentioned to Jackson when they were in Germany, was also there. For her, this was a surprise, but it was obvious that Jackson had been planning it for a long time.
Halia was touched. There was no doubt in her mind that this was the man she wanted to marry.
So, without hesitation, she nodded her head. "Of course, I will."
Her timing was perfect. As soon as she said this, the Limousine stopped outside the Civil Affairs Office, and with a smile, Jackson opened the door, dragged Halia out excitedly and ran straight up the stairs of the building.
Halia laughed as she followed the man into the main lobby. He was like a child running into a toy store. After they entered, Halia spotted another familiar figure waving at them.
Cleo was seated inside with some boxes, clothes bags, and bouquets. She looked relieved as though she was worried she'd be abandoned there on her own.
Jackson quickly ran over to the woman, grabbed one of the clothes bags, and handed it to Halia.
Halia looked at the bag and undid a bit of the zipper at the front to see what was inside.
As soon as she opened it, she immediately recognized what it was. It was her dress from Germany! The one she had selected with Jackson. When did he get it shipped all the way here?
Halia smiled as she remembered the amazing day they spent taking wedding photos at the castle. It was a day she would never forget. If it was possible, she would have already married Jackson then and there.
Natalie, Amelie, and Lily quickly caught up to Halia and dragged her towards a change room. "See you boys again soon," Natalie giggled as they disappeared around the corner.
As soon as the girls entered the room, Natalie began to help Halia put on her dress, while Amelie did her hair, and Lily did her makeup. Natalie and Amelie had never met Lily before, but they worked perfectly in sync like a professional team of stylists. In less than half an hour, Halia had transformed from an SPU agent into a beautiful bride.
Halia couldn't believe her eyes when she looked in the mirror. She did not wake up expecting this today, but she wouldn't change it for the world.
When Halia came out, Jackson and the rest of the bridal party were already waiting for her inside one of the private rooms with a marriage celebrant.
Just like her dress, Jackson had his suit shipped from Germany, and he looked like a prince as he watched her walk in.
The marriage was small and intimate with their closest friends and family by their side, but it wasn't any less beautiful than an extravagant one.
As the couple exchanged wedding rings and Jackson kissed his bride, he whispered beside her ear, "Sorry I was in such a rush to make you my wife. I promise I'll give you a grand and luxurious wedding ceremony later."
Halia chuckled, "I don't need a grand and luxurious wedding. I just need you..."
She meant it.
She then pulled her husband over to sign their marriage certificate. She had been dragged around all day; it was about time she dragged him back.
As their pens lifted off the papers, the couple looked lovingly at each other. "I love you, Mrs. Wu," Jackson said.
"I love you too, Mr. Wu," Halia replied. She then leaned over and kissed her husband on the lips.
